    Yes it can be those rocky mountains, sometimes on final descent, windy conditions. Those pilots do a great job.

    Flew in and out of Stapleton only but it was most often quite windy. Used to do between Denver and Colorado Springs including on Rocky Mountain Airways (usually a Twin Otter). Could feel the turbulance and ears popping on the descent. Nice landing. Those longer runways at Denver International must come in handy.

    For DEN standards, that was actually not too bad. It can be much worse approaching from the west over the mountains. Then it's a roller coaster ride! Nice video!

    • @RyanVince

      I'd say this was a roller coaster ride, in the bumps you were just held into your seat by the belt and stuff that wasn't secured went flying.

      Go to the beginning of the Severe Turbulence section around 7:20 in. Unfortunately the image stabilization on my phone is almost too good but you can see the times it does rattle pretty good and the stabilization couldn’t keep up, was basically because I was floating in my seat and the camera went for a bit of a ride

    There's just certain airports you should expect to get your butt kicked when flying into. Denver is certainly one of them especially if it's a windy day! I love it! PHX on a really hot summer day has some crazy convection (imagine that)

    Imagine a natural bathroom hand dryer of the earth. Denver is the hands the mountains are that dryer. Its constant wind trying to spread out. When your pilot banks he or she is cutting that wind up for easier decent

  • @jamesbabbath5306

    That wasn't severe turbulence, that was moderate - severe turbulence is defined as momentary loss of aircraft control and requires a maintenance inspection of the aircraft right after landing to check for structural damage.

    God what a horrible airport! They put it in the absolute worst possible location for turbulent winds coming over the mountains and diving down to the surface. And there is STILL, 30 years later, not a damn thing anywhere near it. They closed a perfectly good airport 10 miles from downtown to build this monstrosity!

    • @RyanVince
      @RyanVince  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      First off, the old Stapleton airport was worse for winds compared to the current Denver airport. Secondly, have you been to DEN lately, there’s houses and shops and everything else near the airport. It is absolutely not in the middle of nowhere anymore

  • @coereg

    Thank you for the upload. I hate to say this but that isn't an extremely turbulent or "crazy bumpy" approach. I do respect your thoughts on this but this flight here would honestly be considered fairly low chop or turbulence. My family and I fly probably 10 times a year and I can't remember many times where (anywhere) there wasn't some light chop either during takeoff or landing. I've been on a few flights where moderate and reasonably serious turbulence (not severe) occurred and I can tell that this isn't at all what that is. You'll know it when you come across it, believe me. But you know what, even on those few rare occasions, the pilots and plane had no problem simply bringing us through it. It was no big deal at all.
