      Honestly Germany is one of the very few countries in the world that doesn't take pride in it's military history and is filled with self hate.
      Almost everyone else is very proud of their past even if they were just as murderous as Hitler, like in Russia Stalinist statues are still popular and Mao is still on all Chinese banknotes regardless how many more people than Hitler they killed. Even in Italy people aren't particularly negative about dressing up with ww2 uniforms or wearing historical clothes in turkey is something to be proud of regardless of the Armenian genocide.
      The US isn't hating itself about what they did to the indians or in the Philippines or in Guantanamo, gitmo or Afghanistan.
      Really it's just Germans that has been thought from birth that they should not be proud to have almost won fighting against most of the world but to hate themselves for those that died.
      People in Italy are super proud of roman emperors even if Trajan and vespasian killed millions of Jews in the conquest of Judea and the during Jewish rebellion.
      So honestly it's just the Germans hating themselves over their history.

    Great video and very informative. It was great to see How to wear every item. I was surprised by the basic design of the Type 99 Tako backpack. It looks like an evolution of the prussian style backpack we use in the parade uniform of the Chilean Army's Escuela Militar (Officer School) and in a simplified form in the NCO School. The "marmita"( I don't know the English Word for the metal food container and pot combination) looks very simmilar. Our packs had a wooden frame and were fastened to the ammo pouches via bronce hooks. But the principle is the same. I also got to use the last model of field pack with the poncho and cloth objects tied in a horseshoe shape around the pack. I understand that contemporary school backpacks used by children in Japan are based on old European Military models, maybe there is a conection but I don't know.

    Awesome video man! I love comparing uniforms. Biggest one for me is the amount of kit and the rather drawn out time it seems to take to get kitted out for a fight. And I believe the uniforms were wool, were they not? I just can’t imagine! Very cool video. Thanks. Gonna help in my painting my model kits as well.

    • @hattorihan7503
      @hattorihan7503  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      WWII IJA equipment is pretty much a simplified evolution of German equipment from the 1880s/90s. I personally find it more comfortable to wear than German kit since there's less stuff hanging from the belt.

    • @fanta4897
      @fanta4897 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hattorihan7503 That would probably depend on the configuration of the german kit. Even if I have all on the belt, it can be made relatively comfortable if I use belt hooks (which would be similar to japanese system, although the japanese seems more simple, but fragile). On the other hand, the japanese kit seems to have a lot of things hanging on shoulder straps which I would assume would have to be very irritating on the shoulders (my shoulders are always sore when I use Y-straps, or even just shoulder strap for gasmask can, since japanese have canteen attached by shoulder strap, then that by itself must be irritating).
