You could also add Shelmet/Karrablast, and even ones that are just intended to be thought of as a pair, like Seviper and Zangoose with their rivalry, since it doesn't really make sense lore-wise to have one without the other. Even Volbeat/Illumise could fit that.

I would like to point out that Psyduck in gen 4 and maybe zoroark and crustle because of black and white 2 could have been in the "roadblock category".
@@Matthew_Baratheon They may not have been *designed* as roadblocks, but they were used as such and at least deserve to be in the roadblock category as honerable mentions
on the fur-bait group, you could've also added lopunny (for obvious reasons, despite not being a mascot for gen 4), also incineroar and salazzle from gen 7... you could even make a case for all 3 of the Alola starters' final forms to be fur-baity, heck, you could go as far as gen 6 and call fur-bait all the final forms for starters from that point onwards... that group can be as big as the fanart tells you it is =P
Two new categories: Multi-head Pokemon: Dugtrio, Doduo, Dodrio, Weezing, Slowbro (Shellder on tail is separate head), Kangaskhan (mother and kid are one Pokemon), Vanilluxe and few more. Shell Pokemon, or Pokemon who can hide in itself body: Squirtle line, Omanyte line, Torkoal, Forretress, Shellder line, Shuckle, Dwebble line and few more.
For road block pokemon, you forgot the psyducks from diamond/pearl that block your way. You can't get past them until Cynthia gives you something for their headache.
I’ve never disagreed with a list as much as I do this one, but keep up the good work. I’ve never thought of this idea before and it was fun ranking these mons in a new way
Too funny- until now I never put much thought into the genres, but now I'm thinking about more that weren't on this list: Household Pet Pokemon like Meowth Urban Pokemon like Muk, Trubbish Prey Pokemon like Magikarp, Caterpie, Basculin Vocational Pokemon like Growlithe and Chansey Culture based Pokemon like Ludicolo, Ninetales, and Mr. Rhyme Stone evolutions Battle based evolution Location based evolution Music based Pokemon like Chattot
Toxtricity, a FUR bait ??? 😅 You forgot to count Lopunny, Baxien/Delphox, Lycanroc, Zeraora, and many more ! As for the Payoff Pokémon, you forgot Wimpod/Golisopod ! 🐌
I think some genres that could fit into this list would be: -Shiny Pokémon -Pokémon that are not what they seem (Pokémon like Mimikyu, galarian sunfisk, Amoongus and maybe even ditto, that hide their themselves or look/pretend to look like something else) -Separating the furrbait genre on this video into 2, being the furrybait pokemon (adding mons like Incineroar or Lopunny) , and the Mascot/commercialized Pokémon (adding Pikachu, Greninja etc.) -Pokémon with multiple evolution forms like eevee or Kirlia -Pokémon that should be one type but aren't (kinda like the dragon/not dragon thing, with Pokémon like Groundon being related to heat but not being part fire type or Florgeous being the garden Pokémon but not being grass) -Controversial Pokémon, Pokémon that have caused controversy one way or another like Porygon or Jynx (tho I'd understand If we didn't include this one bc it can be a controversial topic) - And lastly the "introduction/Professor" Pokémon, this having all the Pokémon that the professors of each region introduce you to when you start the game, like Juniper's Cinccino or Kukuis Rockruff
-dunno about shinies, since that category includes literally every mon lol -pokemon pretenders is a good category! voltorb/electrode, wishiwashi, and klefki would all also work here -definitely agree that "mascot" mons could be their own group. any of the mons in smash would work -split evos are a great group since they all each kind of have distinct personalities across their pairs (think slowbro vs slowking, or glalie vs froslass) -I really like that last category too, and you could even include other mons that are integral to the "intro" part of the story, like the zigzagoon that corners birch or the starly that attacks at lake verity
The worst is definitely mythical. I hate mythical Pokemon so much. Permanently locked content is so lame. A permanently missable thing in a colleting-based game is such a bad idea. It is the primary reason I don't want to play older Pokemon games. What's the point when it's an incomplete experience?
Really interesting list! Wondering why you didn't include some pokemon in the smaller genres you had, like at least two widely acknowledged furry bait pokemon (Delphox and Zeraora, maybe Lopunny) and at least one widely acknowledged payoff pokemon (Wimpod, maybe Larvesta and Beldum). Also wondering why you didn't include eeveelutions since it's one of the most widely acknowledged genres, but makes sense if it's because they're all a single evolution line. Cool concept for a video.
Didn’t think about humanoid Pokémon, my first thought was Pokémon with clothing. Also feel if you’re going to have a “not a dragon” then we need a “not a pseudo legendary”. Mega Pokémon too maybe
For roadblocking pokemon, the group is larger than just Snorlax, Sudowoodo, and Kecleon. In Gen 4 you have the psyduck blocking the road to Celestic town, in Gen 5 you have the Crustle Blocking Route 4 in B2W2, and even Gen 8 has Wooloo blocking part of Route 1 after you complete the Slumbering Weald initial quest.
Furbait is a much bigger group, you forgot Lopunny. I'd also count Braixen, Salazzle, Incineroar, Cinderace and Zeraora as furbait too, there's a lot more probably
I feel like wooloo should count as part of the road blocking Pokémon cause of the beginning of sword and shield as well as the psyduck in diamond and pearl
Love the video, a lot of cool concepts here. Regarding road blocking Pokémon, I’m not sure psyduck should count since they weren’t designed as such and were used to block a route in a game 3 generations after their debut. However I would posit that Crustle count. They are used to block progress a couple times through the gen 5 games, particularly at the seaside cave.
Protesting because obviously S tier should be Cuteness Overload Pokemon, with the top of that list being my personal favorite: Growlithe. He's just such an adorable FIRE PUPPY!!!
@HoopsandHipHop you should do a video ranking the individual pokemon in each of those genres after and make a little mini series of it that would be awesome I would so watch that
I actually prefer Pichu over Pikachu. I just like it's design more. Also, I think you forgot one furbait pokemon, unless it was intentional. One pair of brown rabbits, please.
10:50 garbador and trubbish are meant to be rubbish and ugly it is like feebas who is meant to be ugly garbador and trubbish just are meant to be rubbish so their concept is what makes people hate them their application of their concept is great
There's also the Psyduck in Gen 4 who block your path and Crustle in Gen 5, Gen 6 has Snorlax again and Gen 7 in a way has Tauros and Stoutland (including the people they're with), Gen 8 has Corviknight in one spot at least. They didn't stop doing these. If you only want to include the ones you yourself need to do something about then it's at least up to Gen 5 and 6, since the Tauros/ Stoutland/ Corviknight are more story forced blocks that go away on their own.
Tbh I'm mostly neutral on object-mon but for some reason every time I see a Klefki I go 🥺 Why? It's a keyring. A floating keyring. And it has stolen my heart. The deciding factor of whether to buy the swsh dlc was the expanded pokedex so I could get klefki. If pokemon were real I'd own 10. I'd buy a bunch of antique keys at flea markets for them.
Only one entry in and you ticked me off. My Delphox will be seeing you soon... (Edit) Also why is it nobody treats Marill like a Pikaclone anymore? Did everyone forget the "Pikablu" nonsense?
Gamefreak really missed out with not having Rillabooms drums be a part of its chest. I feel the same way with Zacians sword. It should have been a part of its anatomy, and be its tail or something.
I would throw split evolution Pokemon into the mix as a genre. Things like Bellosom/Vileplume, Poliwrath/Politoad, the Eeveelutions, etc. I always thought Pokemon that could evolve into different things depending on various conditions was a super cool conceptual space to play around in
For me the reason Im not high on Baby Pokemon is their evolution method. Imm not a fan of having to evolve through happiness because it takes FOREVER and usually by the time u get its happiness high enough ur on the sixth-eighth badge and all the good moves are gone (looking at u Budew and gosh dang magical leaf!) but if they evolve through non happiness (such as toxel who is ADORABLE! DO NOT UPSET MY TOXIC!) Im cool with them.
I'd consider psyduck from Sinnoh as a blocking pokemon. A group blocks off a route and like the others they require you to obtain an item to clear the path. Snorlax-pokeflute, sudowoodo- spray bottle, kecleon -devon scope, and psyduck-special medicine.
What about Trap Pokémon as a category? It would include Voltorb/Electrode, Stunfisk, and maybe Sudowoodo. Pokémon who you approach in the over world expecting to collect an item/cut down a tree and are instead forced into a battle? Though I can’t imagine they would rank too highly.
19:38 you forgot zeraora and lopunny Also the applin line as a whole are based off of wyrms which are serpentine/limbless dragons so that's why it makes sense as a dragon.
Zacian is a legendary pokemon so that sorta cancels out the held item issue you mentioned at the start of the video putting both it and Zamazenta who also has a held item and is it's legendary counterpart right next to it wouldn't it?
What about Pokémon that wear clothes like Machamp and Hitmonchan, or Pokémon made up of multiple separate creatures, like Falinks and Exeggcute? It’d be nice to have an F- tier, and both of these are great contenders for that tier 🤣👍
I think they're from another universe... so, sort of. I mean, everything is from space if you really think about it... but the Ultra Beasts I believe were from an alternate reality to our own. A real Multiverse of Madness, if you will

In the Pay-off Pokémon group should also include Wimpod and Golisopod. Literally a Pokémon with WIMP on its name turning into a big and powerful Bug Samurai (only hindered by its ability)
I would like to point out that Psyduck in gen 4 and maybe zoroark and crustle because of black and white 2 could have been in the "roadblock category".
Again, Psyduck was not "Designed" to be a road block as he was from Gen 1. The gen 4 road block could have literally been anything in that respect.
@@Matthew_Baratheon They may not have been *designed* as roadblocks, but they were used as such and at least deserve to be in the roadblock category as honerable mentions
9:20 you forgot Wimpod
It somehow slipped my mind 😅
How about Pokémon that evolve with clothes?
Where does Machop get the underwear and belt? Where does Hitmonchan get the gloves and purple outfit?
on the fur-bait group, you could've also added lopunny (for obvious reasons, despite not being a mascot for gen 4), also incineroar and salazzle from gen 7... you could even make a case for all 3 of the Alola starters' final forms to be fur-baity, heck, you could go as far as gen 6 and call fur-bait all the final forms for starters from that point onwards... that group can be as big as the fanart tells you it is =P
I think Zeraora is also fur-bait
@@ParodyTimeExtra oh, right!! I tend to forget zeraora =P
I'd consider Lopunny as an unofficial fourth member of the Furbait Squad.
theres a LOT more furbait mons than he mentioned
One genre I'd add might be Ancient Pokemon, Pokemon made or from a long time ago, that are still around, like Golurk, Claydol, Relicanth or Bronzong
15:10 I recently started a Playthrough of Shining Pearl with only Trade Evos and it's so much fun to finally use those guys on a Playthrough
When you were talking about fossil Pokémon, that got me thinking what fossils are we going to get in gen 9. Maybe a video idea?
There are none
@@d13bowman80 There could be.
@@emperorpiplup1083 is already been confirmed that there are no fossil pokemon new or old
@@d13bowman80 Where's this news! I missed something?!
It's from Riddler Kuh
Two new categories:
Multi-head Pokemon: Dugtrio, Doduo, Dodrio, Weezing, Slowbro (Shellder on tail is separate head), Kangaskhan (mother and kid are one Pokemon), Vanilluxe and few more.
Also the Crustle from Black/White 2. They were road block Pokémon too
I’ve never disagreed with a list as much as I do this one, but keep up the good work. I’ve never thought of this idea before and it was fun ranking these mons in a new way
I’m surprised Abra wasn’t part of the “pay-off” group since training it only knowing teleport can be a pain but Alakazam is really good
Too funny- until now I never put much thought into the genres, but now I'm thinking about more that weren't on this list:
Household Pet Pokemon like Meowth
Urban Pokemon like Muk, Trubbish
Prey Pokemon like Magikarp, Caterpie, Basculin
Vocational Pokemon like Growlithe and Chansey
Culture based Pokemon like Ludicolo, Ninetales, and Mr. Rhyme
Stone evolutions
Battle based evolution
Location based evolution
Music based Pokemon like Chattot
Toxtricity, a FUR bait ??? 😅
You forgot to count Lopunny, Baxien/Delphox, Lycanroc, Zeraora, and many more !
As for the Payoff Pokémon, you forgot Wimpod/Golisopod ! 🐌
@10:00 the super weak/pathetic evolving into stronger forms group could also include Wimpod evolving into Golisopod
I think some genres that could fit into this list would be:
-Shiny Pokémon
-Pokémon that are not what they seem (Pokémon like Mimikyu, galarian sunfisk, Amoongus and maybe even ditto, that hide their themselves or look/pretend to look like something else)
-Separating the furrbait genre on this video into 2, being the furrybait pokemon (adding mons like Incineroar or Lopunny) , and the Mascot/commercialized Pokémon (adding Pikachu, Greninja etc.)
-Pokémon with multiple evolution forms like eevee or Kirlia
-Pokémon that should be one type but aren't (kinda like the dragon/not dragon thing, with Pokémon like Groundon being related to heat but not being part fire type or Florgeous being the garden Pokémon but not being grass)
-Controversial Pokémon, Pokémon that have caused controversy one way or another like Porygon or Jynx (tho I'd understand If we didn't include this one bc it can be a controversial topic)
- And lastly the "introduction/Professor" Pokémon, this having all the Pokémon that the professors of each region introduce you to when you start the game, like Juniper's Cinccino or Kukuis Rockruff
-dunno about shinies, since that category includes literally every mon lol
-pokemon pretenders is a good category! voltorb/electrode, wishiwashi, and klefki would all also work here
-definitely agree that "mascot" mons could be their own group. any of the mons in smash would work
-split evos are a great group since they all each kind of have distinct personalities across their pairs (think slowbro vs slowking, or glalie vs froslass)
-I really like that last category too, and you could even include other mons that are integral to the "intro" part of the story, like the zigzagoon that corners birch or the starly that attacks at lake verity
The worst is definitely mythical. I hate mythical Pokemon so much. Permanently locked content is so lame.
A permanently missable thing in a colleting-based game is such a bad idea. It is the primary reason I don't want to play older Pokemon games. What's the point when it's an incomplete experience?
Mythical sounds like a cool concept until you remember that you have to get them as an event, and if you miss it then you are screwed.
I can't believe you forgot mimics, I know there's only three but you have Magikarp and company a group, lmao great video overall thiugj
Shouldn't Pokemon like Delphox, Incineroar, and Cinderace be included in the list of " Fur Bait" Pokemon.
Also lopunny
Was thinking this. Dunno if he really gets what 'Fur Bait' means lol
Yes, Buneary, and Lopunny especially!
Didn’t think about humanoid Pokémon, my first thought was Pokémon with clothing. Also feel if you’re going to have a “not a dragon” then we need a “not a pseudo legendary”. Mega Pokémon too maybe
What would not a pseudo include? Haxorus for sure. Maybe volcarona or lucario?
I believe that Wimpod should have been part of the "payoff" pokemon category
Feminine Grass Pokemon: you missed Belossom (gen 2)
I think wimpod would fit with magikarp feebas and ducklett, also notice they’re all water types 🤔
Psyduck was a road block in gen 4
For roadblocking pokemon, the group is larger than just Snorlax, Sudowoodo, and Kecleon. In Gen 4 you have the psyduck blocking the road to Celestic town, in Gen 5 you have the Crustle Blocking Route 4 in B2W2, and even Gen 8 has Wooloo blocking part of Route 1 after you complete the Slumbering Weald initial quest.
Pretty sure obstagoon too
in its own weird way, i would count sylveon as a "pay off" pokemon
and some happiness evolutions like lucario
Furbait is a much bigger group, you forgot Lopunny. I'd also count Braixen, Salazzle, Incineroar, Cinderace and Zeraora as furbait too, there's a lot more probably
Wouldn't psyduck be considered a roadblocking pokemon due to them blocking the route to celestic town in gen 4?
It was used as that, yes, but Psyduck wasn’t really designed to block a road the way Snorlax and those others were
What about the Crustle on Route 4 in Unova?
I feel like wooloo should count as part of the road blocking Pokémon cause of the beginning of sword and shield as well as the psyduck in diamond and pearl
Love the video, a lot of cool concepts here.
Regarding road blocking Pokémon, I’m not sure psyduck should count since they weren’t designed as such and were used to block a route in a game 3 generations after their debut.
However I would posit that Crustle count. They are used to block progress a couple times through the gen 5 games, particularly at the seaside cave.
I know you didn’t mention Psyduck, but thought they might be an interesting honorable mention.
I'm surprised you didn't include Toxel in the "Weak Little Baby Man >> Big Strong Super Guy" group
19:38 what about zeraora and cinderace?
And lopunny😳
@@casoart_ yeah exactly
Instead there’s toxtricity 😐
Protesting because obviously S tier should be Cuteness Overload Pokemon, with the top of that list being my personal favorite: Growlithe. He's just such an adorable FIRE PUPPY!!!
@HoopsandHipHop you should do a video ranking the individual pokemon in each of those genres after and make a little mini series of it that would be awesome I would so watch that
I actually prefer Pichu over Pikachu. I just like it's design more.
Also, I think you forgot one furbait pokemon, unless it was intentional. One pair of brown rabbits, please.
That’s funny, I like Raichu better than Pikachu. Also don’t forget Zeraora
@@EpicRandomness555 yeah, I don't get why he forgot about them, they are some of the best.
You missed wimpod in the payoff group, who i think was supposed to be the Gyarados of Alola
Wooloo should be in the road block Pokémon, it literally blocks of areas at the start of the game.
10:50 garbador and trubbish are meant to be rubbish and ugly it is like feebas who is meant to be ugly garbador and trubbish just are meant to be rubbish so their concept is what makes people hate them their application of their concept is great
I like your content a lot but you forgot Crustle for roadblock pokemon in gen 5.
Psyduck for gen 4
"Ranking Every Genre of Pokemon From Worst to Best"
Eeveelutions: Are we a joke to you
Yes
You forgot the psyduck that block a path in gen 4
I feel like the Wimpod line definetly fits the theme of the "Pay off" genre
Also Wooloo could be considered a "Roadblock" Pokemon
There's also the Psyduck in Gen 4 who block your path and Crustle in Gen 5, Gen 6 has Snorlax again and Gen 7 in a way has Tauros and Stoutland (including the people they're with), Gen 8 has Corviknight in one spot at least. They didn't stop doing these.
If you only want to include the ones you yourself need to do something about then it's at least up to Gen 5 and 6, since the Tauros/ Stoutland/ Corviknight are more story forced blocks that go away on their own.
Tbh I'm mostly neutral on object-mon but for some reason every time I see a Klefki I go 🥺
Why? It's a keyring. A floating keyring. And it has stolen my heart. The deciding factor of whether to buy the swsh dlc was the expanded pokedex so I could get klefki. If pokemon were real I'd own 10. I'd buy a bunch of antique keys at flea markets for them.
I feel like Toxtricity should be a Payoff Pokémon as well due to Toxel. And it doesn't get more Fur-Baity than Lopunny.
Sirfetched is a good mom that Carrie’s something around 😞
I think Golisopod would fit in the Payoff category
So now what’s your favourite Pokemon from each genre?
Also where does Smeargle fit? He has paint on his tail so, ‘holding stuff’ Pokemon?
Only one entry in and you ticked me off.
My Delphox will be seeing you soon...
(Edit) Also why is it nobody treats Marill like a Pikaclone anymore? Did everyone forget the "Pikablu" nonsense?
It just doesnt make sense for every member of a species to have the same item, said the guy I guarantee has a smartphone.
"There's only 3 fur bait lines"
Uh whut? Hoops, buddy. You're smoking something. Blaziken, Lucario, Lopunny, Zoroark, Braixen, Delphox, Lycanroc (Night), Incineroar, Salandit, Zeraora, Cinderace, Toxtricity, Sneasler.
Anyone feel free to add one and I'll add it to the message
17:34 Psyduck was one in Gen 4
Wow. #1 is really quite the CURVE BALL 😅
Gamefreak really missed out with not having Rillabooms drums be a part of its chest. I feel the same way with Zacians sword. It should have been a part of its anatomy, and be its tail or something.
That actually would've made a lot of sense for a gorilla pokémon.
It being its tail would just look stupid. Zacian doesn't even carry the sword all the time, it just summons it to battle
I feel like Zubat would also be one of those evolution payoff Pokemon. As a Zubat it's weak and a chore to raise. But Crobat is absolutely awesome.
Is psyduck in gen 4 considered a roadblock?
Yed
Also, baby Pokemon are actually harder to get than normal, so they’re pretty much pointless
Being part of the furry fandom, I can guarantee you there's more furbait pokemons x3
Zeraora
Lopunny
To give examples
Zera is really cool
Yes agreed 100%!
No Eeveelutions?
19:38 you forgot zeraora and lopunny
Also the applin line as a whole are based off of wyrms which are serpentine/limbless dragons so that's why it makes sense as a dragon.
Zacian is a legendary pokemon so that sorta cancels out the held item issue you mentioned at the start of the video putting both it and Zamazenta who also has a held item and is it's legendary counterpart right next to it wouldn't it?
id agrue beldum for the “pay off” genre considering it only knows take down till it evolves
Eeveelutions :exist
Hoops: i dont care
For the pay off pokemon I would include Noibat into Noivern, Larvesta to Volcarona etc
Klefki is a good object mon tbh. Seems very natural. Same with comfey, if you count flowers as objects.
What about Pokémon that wear clothes like Machamp and Hitmonchan, or Pokémon made up of multiple separate creatures, like Falinks and Exeggcute? It’d be nice to have an F- tier, and both of these are great contenders for that tier 🤣👍
At 2:21 Zacian can only be that form if it's already holding the rusted sword, so that makes sense, right?
Aren't ultra beasts from Space?
I think they're from another universe... so, sort of. I mean, everything is from space if you really think about it... but the Ultra Beasts I believe were from an alternate reality to our own. A real Multiverse of Madness, if you will
@@michaelmulligan8527 I assumed ultra wormholes were wormholes, my bad.
Hey I think crustle should count as a road blocking pokémon 2 since it blocks your path in Pokemon Black and White 2
