having worked on X-Men before as a writer, and now a successful, blockbuster filmmaker, I think Marvel should hire Michael Dougherty to helm the first Merry Mutant Marvel movie. sorry to be the nostalgic guy, but he was there on the ground floor of how to handle characters with oftentimes uncontrollable powers, needing guidance, education, and community to survive in a world that fears & hates them.
Let director duo Bensen & Moorhead do it. They've already done work for marvel in Loki Season 2 and they have great unconventional style and certainly vision
What about James Mangold who did Logan? It seems to be a well received X-men film. Nicole Kassell directed some eps of the Watchmen series and has a huge resume. Kate Herron was the EP and Director for the Loki series….
Mangold made one of the best comic book movies with “Logan” (and a pretty good one with “The Wolverine”), but he’s not a fan of the wackier side of comic lore. He may not be into a wide-ranging ensemble project with so many willing-suspension-of-disbelief elements
Even though I don't really care for the F&F movies, which says something considering I'm suggesting him despite that fact, the right director to bring in for a team franchise like the X-Men who understands action and story is Justin Lin, the director of most of the Fast and Furious movies. He checks literally all the boxes.
I’ve loved the X-Men since getting all the Claremont Byrne Austin comics at a garage sale when I was a kid. I’ve grown up loving these uncanny mutants. The director(s) hired should have a balance of reverence and actual insight of what The Uncanny X-Men is and the ability to handle multiple characters including younger members of the team. They understand staging epic moments and also handle emotional and intimate moments. With that said, I think I’d go the tv to film route(like the Russo Bros and Matt Shakman)and hire… The Duffer Brothers. They know the X-Men and they know their stuff and would be key in making the Mutant saga a crowd pleasing MCU success.
Zack Synder doing an X-Men movie would be a bad movie, imo. He is someone who likes to deconstruct superheroes, and his takes on the DC universe was to make the core Justice League characters as gods.
John Krasinski, Doug Liman or Ron Howard. Depending on how you want to do it. Either way X-men stories should be told in 3 parts, People will think starwars but really it's more like the X-men book series Mutant Empire (recommend)
They were happy with Shawn Levy. Or Ryan just worked with John Krazinski. Not sure if they would do this but Jordan Peele for some version of the Midnight Sons.
Alan Taylor of "Many Saints of Newark" 1). A relative unknown director 2). Worked within constraints of a beloved franchise with well established characters & made it work 3). Isn't in heavy demand currently 4). The stunt & special effects were good + also not a hinderance
John Krasinski. A Quiet Place showed his chops. He has MCU experience. He could add a bit of a comedic flair but also has the dramatic experience to carry a film.
So this could definitely be a job for Chad Stahelski. If not… If he wasn’t so toxic, I would definitely want to see Bo Demeo Helm, this flagship series.
Because of the fact that the mutants as a whole are a people that are discriminated against, which that storyline has ALWAYS been the driving force behind the story of all the 'X' comics titles, I feel the director has to be someone who has lived their life knowing what its like to be discriminated against. The X-Men were never really meant to be super heroes. They were the retaliation to the discrimination of their people...
I hope Wolverine isn’t in the first few mutant focused projects, I think he should either have his own film, or I’m more so hoping he’s an antagonist in a Hulk film. And then they can introduce him into the X-Men later, just so he doesn’t shift focus away from some of the other amazing characters
Zack Snyder would be the worst choice in the universe. An X-Men movie demands a director who knows how to work with character development and this is exactly what Zack Snyder doesn't understand at all. The movie would be visually stunning, but no one would care about the characters. I would chose Ryan Coogler. He knows how to work with characters, he knows how to manage social conflits, he know hot to make things pretty on screen, among other qualities.
I really hope the X-Men reboot is good, don't have anyone specific in mind to direct it, but someone who really knows how to direct action shows with emotion would be great!
YOU: Are you OK? ME: What happened? YOU: You passed out. ME: Oh… while I was out, I had a horrible nightmare that Zack Snyder might be considered to direct the X-Men movies. YOU: Well, there is a very slight possibility… ME: **passes out again**
Yall wild as hell putting Radcliffe in the wolverine convo!!! Lol Unfortunately Edgerton said he feels he's out grown the role or simple dont wanna follow Jackman. It may be like anyone who's the Joke after Heath.
If Zack Snyder could do a Watchmen level X-Men movie, then yeah, it could be great! In Watchmen, Syder had to introduce a whole team that was complex to an audience that some people had never seen before. To this day It is one of my favorite comic book movies. Every time I see it on, I can't help but watch it.
My top 5 picks for X-Men directors are either: Jordan Peele, Ryan Coogler, The Duffer Brothers, Josh Cooley or Bruce Dallas Howard. I feel the best way to do X-Men is the Evolution approach since they want to cast Sadie Sink as Jean. I’d like to see Professor X, Storm, Beast and Wolverine as the primary mentors. It would be easier for them to cast Colossus as a Hagrid type of groundskeeper and a part-time Art teacher. The young X-Men lineup should be Jean, Cyclops, Iceman, Nightcrawler, Kitty Pryde, Spyke, Angel (Warren’s daughter), Jubilee, and Sunspot. The first main villains should be Mister Sinister and Archangel imo.
After watching the justice league I vowed to never watch another Snyder movie. He wasted way too much of my time and I don’t care for his directing style. Just my opinion, but he would be a huge mistake
John Watts seems to make a lot of sense, if he would do it. Zac Snyder seems risky for such an important movie. I’d love to see a Zac Snyder X-Men movie, but it’s hard to imagine how they’d get all the stars to align to make that possible.
Excited for the X-men , they were my first introduction to comics and super heroes when I was a child… I didn’t learn about the avengers or dc until way after . In feige I trust
@murkincl69 they say Snyder fans are toxic but there's an hoard of people dedicated to hating Snyder. When it's unwarranted. ManofSteel BvS JLSnyderCut and what he did for the first WW were all BANGERS!!!!!
@ Didn’t say anything about those movies, I said “Comic Book Properties”. He thinks Batman Kills People, which excluding dressing like a bat, that is his one thing. Yes, he actually said this in an interview, look it up.
@@msmithivh1 Man of Steel was amazing, everything else in the DC universe was Hot Dog Water. It’s like he took a look at the MCU and said “wow that worked so well for them… Let’s do the exact opposite and start with a team-up movie before we establish any of these characters or the universe. Oh, while we are at it, let’s ruin the Flash.”
I don't know what he's been up to lately, but I thought of Matthew Vaughan. If I'm not mistaken he was behind the kick ass movies which were, in my opinion, fun take on the superhero genre.
Marvel studios needs to find new Taika's, Watt's & Coogler's to direct these last few films before we get to DD & SW. They were on a roll at the end of phase 3 with how they chose new talent with the right eye to direct. If they can somehow repeat that again and find the right people to lead these last upcoming projects, then it would make up for all the failures from this saga for sure.
The movie should be 1990s period like Fantastic Four First Steps is 1960s period piece mirroring in 1990s the year X-Men was rebooted by Jim Lee and gave us the most iconic designs of the X Men and went on to blast Marvel into insane popularity and the Jim Lee run went on to be the highest selling American comic book ever with 7 Million copies and 1990s culture would be unique and increase box office
The director of the new top gun or the director of The Boys works for me. Both can handle fast paced stories, action, fast character building with multiple characters and know how to connect them well with the audience
I love the idea of Snyder because of his great scoping vision. How about Pete Travis the director of Dredd 2012, he has a very kinetic style. I mean he's doing tv shows for pete's sake. Now I know this one is a stretch but Timur Bekmambetov the director of 'Night Watch', 'Day Watch' and 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter'. He could really show their powers in a new more interesting way 👍💥
Merry Christmas Michael Roman. Everything Always; Always First.

X-Men has to be on point, I hope they hire a director who has a good understanding of the lore.
Doubt it. They’ll probably end up hiring a lousy director & writer who’ll end up putting a bunch of 15 year olds in the movie..
Marvel will cook.
Good luck with that

Can’t wait to see the Mutants come home to the MCU!!!
Hey Michael, again I'm so ready for the future Mutant sagas
Alan Taylor of "Many Saints of Newark"
1). A relative unknown director

3). Isn't in heavy demand currently
4). The stunt & special effects were good + also not a hinderance
What if Gareth Edwards directed X-Men?

1) Zach Snyder
2) James Cameron
3) The Watchoswkis
4) J.J. Abrams
5) Gore Verbinski
Merry Christmas from Cameroon Africa. Keep up the good work 🎉🎉🎉

Zach Synder needs to stay far away from the X-Men. He is not a good choice for super-hero movies. Watchmen aside he doesn't understand the genre.

Big X-Man since I was a kid, but know next to nothing about directors so I'll leave that to the other comics. I'm just stoked for Phase 7

I’m glad the MCU had success and shortcomings. I would like some mutants saga stories like Winter Soldier and the Eternals.
X Men and the eventual soft reboot of the MCU (with big character recasts) are the biggest weapons they've got.
Snyder is all style over substance.

Looking forward to seeing the new X-Men in the MCU I'm all for Zach Snyder taking a shot at directing it.
Looking forward to the mutant saga hopefully they incorporate other x-teams into shows and other things
I'd go with Cary Joji Fukunaga. If you can put out a good Bond film, you should be able to tackle X-Men.
I just hope Marvel finds someone who is either already familiar with the X-men or willing to do the research in order to truly make a good movie
Yeah, film by committee will keep established talents at arms length. But hey, Bryan Singer really did a good job on 'Days of Future Past'. Y'know...
Looking forward to the Mutant Saga but I don't think Snyder would be the right choice for the XMen
