    Every other rookie QB may have more “talent” or “arm” than Ridder, but based on this performance, Ridder clearly has the perfect balance of everything including a mind that’s smart and determined. Falcons got a steal.

      arm not talent maybe, ridder and also pickett and matt corral have one of the best arms in college.

      Still worried about his accuracy. This was a mixed bag and that’s okay, he is gonna be one of the guys that has to sit and learn for awhile before he can be the starter. He definitely seems mature, just unpolished and we only spent a 3 on him so it’s no big deal .

      @romain8390 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don’t think he’s that good.. Imma call it now, he’s not your future starter. These are some of the same things I saw at Cincinnati. Yes there were some drops, but he badly placed some of those passes where the receivers had to unnecessarily extend to try to make the catch. He missed throws downfield, as he did often in college, and he should have been picked to close out the game. I like him as a developmental backup, but nothing more.

      @@romain8390 I'm an Eagels fan so I have no horse in this race, just like to see young QB's develop. I'm not a big college football fan so I can't claim I've seen a lot of what he's done at Cincinnati. But with Arthur Smith as head coach, and the tools Ritter has; mobility mainly, I see no reason why they can't develop him into a solid starter. Especially with a Kyle Pitts and a London there too. Not saying he's gonna be an all pro, but I like what I saw. It's pre season so we gotta take it with a grain of salt

      I seen some good things out there. Guys have to help their QB out by catching the football. Hopefully he’ll sit all year and learn and build and be ready to go next year. If the Falcons can build the defense they can be ok in the near future. They’re building something on offense. Ridder is a winner, he’s won on every level.

      I predict that Ridder is going to end up starting the majority of games this year. We'll see. Mariota is far from established there, so if they struggle, and they probably will because they aren't a great team, they'll let Ridder out there to develop

      @@PlaySA if they figured out how to fix their o-line & d-line, they could be a scarier team than most casuals think. All other skill positions are set on the Falcons. They got 2 mobile QBs, Secondary & WR group has improved, LB & RB group have a lot of solid pieces as well. The main obstacle for the 2022 Falcons will be how do they manage the trenches. If they improved in that area, they can be a dark horse playoff team. Only time will tell.

      But I do agree with what you said before that. Ridder was always my favorite QB all-around from the 2022 Class.
      Obviously a very weak Class, but I still think Ridder will end up being the best of the bunch and will end up Atlanta's QB1. Unless Tennessee (or whoever ends up with him if he's traded) really focuses on developing Malik Willis, I really can't see any of the other guys being much better. Ridder looks confident as hell. He took calculated risks and was pretty damn accurate on every throw.
    But, I still can’t get over how calm he looked, even as plays are breaking down. Eyes down field, looking for a lane or a receiver.
    I legitimately think he has perhaps the best chance at sustainable success outside of Pickett. And I only say Pickett because the Steelers organization is so well run. I say that as a Browns fan. It kills me but it’s true.
    But yeah, I was the most confident in Ridder and after watching that performance, I’m 100% sold. It’s not that he blew me away, it’s that he seemed so comfortable in his first NFL game ever. That’s insane.

    He should've been like 18/22 with 3 TDs. The receivers had oil rubbed all over their gloves or something. Really good debut, albeit against some no names but still good. Plays like that last one to win the game are what gets your teammates to trust you and accept you as THE guy in the huddle.

    1:52 and 2:31 Sad truth, if that was Matt Ryan, those would have been a sack or no gain of yards. All those dropped catches. Ridder definitely looks confident out there. I can't wait to see what happens with his future.

    Only preseason - but probably one of the best games I've seen for a rookie QB. Stat line doesn't quite tell the whole tale with so many dropped passes.

    If the falcons start him week 1 I think he will be alright. It would be good for his development.
    On the other hand If they can keep him
    On the bench and Mariota plays well it will give ridder a season to master the offense and adjusts more to the speed of the nfl, he will be very good next season.
    Either way I see it, there isn’t a bad option for him.

    Desmond's First NFL start is this sunday! I always liked his game and watching rookie QBs get a shot. As an eagles die hard fan all my life. we've seen it happen with hurts and what he turned into. I dont think he will ever be on Jalens level as a dual threat QB but I honestly think he will win on sunday and give the eagles a better pick from last years saints draft trade. ( pick is Currently top 5🔥) Desmond will win falcons qb1 job and the kid will have a solid year next year and make the falcons an above average team again. Cant wait to see how he does in his first start on sunday. Go birds 🦅 and go falcons. Just for this week vs saints 🙏🔥🦅

    I don't know of anyone notices but Ridder is extremely fast. I noticed several times when he moves , turns, it's impressive , the speed of turning and throwing the accuracy is beautiful. I'm afraid, depressed that We ( Falcons Coaches ect) may make a unfortunate decision to trade or end up not utilizing this guys extremely well noticed talent .

    Goff and Mariota both played well in this game. Frankly however the stats on Desmond Ridder or misleading. The drops from of his receivers really made his 10 of 22 look worse. He completed more than 50% of his passes had those drops not taken place.

  • @vinetip
    @vinetip 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    0:53 rolling to his left and throwing a strike to the end zone (pass dropped). That’s an NFL arm.
    Falcons found a gem (finally).
