Dog Life Hacks That’ll Change Your Life

  • In this video, we’ll look at 23 dog life hacks for dog owners to help give your pup better life and make things easier on you.
    Prevent chewing
If your pup chews your furniture or cables, spray them with bitter apple. The smell and taste of bitter apple discourage dogs from chewing them.
    Freshen their Breath
Parsley is a well-known remedy for bad breath-for both people and dogs. It gets rid of the nasty bacteria that causes bad breath.
If you add a little parsley to your dog's food, it could help to combat stinky dog mouth.
    Brushing their Teeth
If your dog is reluctant to do their dental diligence, squeeze some doggie toothpaste onto your pup’s favorite rope or chew toy. This will help to rub the toothpaste on your dog’s teeth and keep their mouth clean and healthy without the hassle of having to brush it yourself.
    Eliminate Urine Stains and Odors
Baking soda naturally neutralizes odors. If your dog has peed on carpet, simply sprinkle some baking soda or even an old urine stain, and then vacuum it up to remove the smell or stain completely.
    Chicken Popsicle
On hot summer days, you can keep your dog cool and treat them with a healthy and tasty summer treat. Simple fill up an ice cube tray with beef or chicken stock and let your dog enjoy a nice frozen treat.
    Your Sign
Print a list of foods that dogs shouldn't eat. It's an excellent reminder and comes in handy when you have a dog sitter.
    Protecting their paws
Exposure to winter’s cold and chilly rain, sleet and snow can cause chapped paws and flaking skin. Winter walks can also become dangerous if chemicals from de-icing agents are licked off of bare paws.
Booties help minimize contact with painful salt crystals, and massaging petroleum jelly or Vaseline into paw pads before going outside helps to protect them from salt and chemical agents.
    Digging Box
You can keep your garden safe by designating certain areas for digging, or teaching your dog to use their very own digging box.
    Shower Cap
Water and soap can irritate a dog’s sensitive ears and eyes. Use a shower cap to keep them protected during the bath time.
    Pool party
Many dogs love swimming or hanging out in a doggy pool. Fill an inflatable pool with cool water on hot summer days and stock it with some fun toys.
    Music
Classical music can help us relax and decrease our stress levels, but recent studies have shown that certain classical music soothes your pet too. Playing music reduces stress in dogs, lowers their respiratory rates and reduces barking. If your dog barks excessively, or is anxious, use music to calm them down.
    Easy hair removal
To remove doggy hair from your carpet or sofa, simply put a pair of rubber gloves on and dampen them. Rub the gloves back and forth on your upholstery. This will cause the hair to ball up, and then you can remove the hair in one simple clump.
You can also use a window squeegee to remove dog hair from your couch, carpet, and car seats.
    Force a Dog Throw Up
If your dog has eaten something harmful that they shouldn’t have, like raisins or chocolate, use hydrogen peroxide to make them throw up.
    Easy tick removal
Apart from using tweezers, you can apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball, and cover the tick with the soap-soaked cotton ball. Then swab it for a few seconds. The tick will come out on its own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away.
    Downhill Fetch
If it takes a lot to tire your dog out, you can play a game of downhill fetch. Throw the ball down the hill and your dog runs down and back up to retrieve it.
    Say goodbye to fleas
Dawn soap breaks down fleas’ exoskeletons, killing them almost instantly. Give your dog a Dawn dish soap bath if they have fleas.
You can also spray apple cider vinegar on your dog’s coat to get rid of fleas. The odor of apple cider vinegar makes dogs less attractive to fleas.
    Thunderstorms
In a thunderstorm, it is likely that your pup is more afraid of the weird static building up in their coat than the bright lightnings and loud thunders. Use a dryer sheet to get rid of static electricity in your dog’s coat.
    Dog’s scratching post
If you don’t want to trim your dog’s nails, attach sandpaper to a piece of wood and teach your dog to trim their own nails.
    Fast Eating Dog
Does your dog scarf down their food too often?
Unfortunately, eating too quickly isn’t good for digestion as it can cause choking, gagging, and vomiting.
The good way to slow down the eating is to put a tennis ball in their food bowl. As silly as it may sound, the tennis ball will force your dog to move it constantly to get to the food; therefore, slowing down their meal time.
    Play Hurt
Instead of chasing your dog when they get loose, lie down and pretend to be injured. Your dog will run back to make sure you're okay.
    Pillow case bed covers
Use pillowcases to cover your pup’s beds and mats. That way, you can just slip the pillow case off and wash it.

Brandon mcmillan is the most gentle, thorough and effective dog i've ever encountered. My friend and i love the dog show and never miss it. So many times we've shed a tear of happiness just seeing a dog's life changed forever when proper training is applied and they go on to live their lives the way they should. I have brandon's book th-cam.com/users/postUgkxK8-VQWpYThx4IC6MiIvb6VS1ebTzzdxq in two formats. Not only the paperback version but also the kindle version to refer to when i don't have the paperback along with me. I have used his methods with my cavalier kc spaniel and turned a non-disciplined furbaby into a companion who has traveled thousands of miles with us across the country. He is a near perfect dog thanks to brandon's methods. I don't get one cent of kickback for recommending brandon but i do it because i love dogs. They deserve to be given a chance. Brandon's mission in life - to rescue dogs and place them in a forever, happy home - is very dear to my heart. I recommend his methods to anyone who has a dog - young or old. I've seen him take even old dogs and teach them. Brandon was an animal trainer before his current mission. His parents were animal trainers. His methods are the best i've ever found. Your furbaby will thank you for spending the money on this book. Don't hesitate - it is worth every cent.

The Guide elaborates on the techniques used on the show. The examples given in the th-cam.com/users/postUgkxECnmSvBSv_NGWx4_ChD73pF3NYZwI2F3 are helpful and some of the techniques suggested very useful. One such technique/tool suggested was the lure stick to encourage a small dog to keep up with the heel command. I have a small dog who lags behind smelling any and everything and find it hard to keep bending over while walking to his level. The lure stick is great also for another dogs focus and sprinting at anything that catches her eye. The stories about different dogs, their different temperaments, have been helpful, especially Lulu's: After reading about Lulu's challenges I felt relief concerning one of my rescues that I have had for 10 years. Over many years I have checked out many training books from the library, watched different shows, DVDS, bought training books, taken lessons and this book is the best by far! Kindness, patience and perseverance works.

I listen to loads of metal. So my dog is used to that music genre. I just learned to scream just like the vocalists in metal and my dog responses by wagging his tails and getting excited. He is even happy when i scream while i am petting him. Just amazing how he responds to it XD

Do NOT cuddle your dog when they're scared. It's very very hard not to but you're just re-enforcing their fears. Instead: create a small dark place they can hide in to and ignore them. In time they will look at you when they're scared and when they see you continuing your normal tasks they will calm down.

The ball in the dish bowl trick wont work on my 2 boys. The just grab it and take it out of the bowl.

    • @arandomsanti3228
      @arandomsanti3228 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Hey I've gone through some methods.
Big dog bowl, get wet food and smoosh it into the sides of inside of the bowl and put a small bowl in the middle (give it a little wiggle as the water retention helps it stay there)
If that dosnt work u can get a dog bowl that when u turn it upside down it kinda looks like a bowl with a bowl inside. Then when the dog learns to eat slower just flip it over .
Another trick is to get some hard food that u know for sure ur dog dosnt like , maybe potatoes (very important dog dosnt eat the potatoes) mix that into food and they will avoid the potatoe)
Now if u can't get this to work then u will need patience , when it's feeding time u sprinkle a small ammount of food in the bowl, when they are done u sprinkle the same ammount, sometimes take a few second break before sprinkling more food. Make sure that feeding times are strict and dogs don't go to eachother bowls. (This will ensure that they learn food comes from u when u say so helping them feel that food always comes and no need to quickly eat incase someone else eats it)
I'd love to help properly but for that I would need to know so many more factors, like are both dogs just as fast , do u share the house with other ("competing") animals , age, how the boys compete with eachother , breed ect.
The last suggestion should work but may take a month or so

Dawn Dish soap is not good to use on a regular basis for your dog skin. I know this from experience. Instead, try using an all natural dog shampoo plus a conditioner with flea repellent like Cedar. You can even use an Apple cider vinegar and water spray for fleas.

Dont give your dog Ice cubes or frozen stuff. Or stuff that is hot because their internal organs are a specific temperature and are not designed to cope with food that is extreme low or high temperature and it will make them vomit. And if they dont vomit it back up, it just wont do their stomach and gut any good. Feed dogs food that is room temperature or either a little warm or a little cool depending on what kind of food it is. The same goes for water, dont give really cold water to your dog it is too much of a shock to their system. Cool water is ok cold is not

Hey dude , had a similar issue . What u wanna do is gather ur patience, get some special treats that doggo only gets during shower time. Ur ready for positive association training. Start with just being bathroom and giving treats . Nothing more, once the dog has confidence in the bathroom then start by jumping in and out of the bath and treats , no running water yet , then once u can see ur dog is confident with this add running water , don't shower them yet, u can use a cloth , moisten and wipe ur doggo, once this is confident then u can start slowly by showering .
It's easier with 2 ppl, lots of praise and treats for each step ur doggo takes that goes being their comfort zone. Don't push them, let them make the decision themselves with a little guidance with the treat. As I said u need patience. Dog training is rarely fast so don't be disheartened if doggo isn't ready in a week for a full shower comfortably

Letting them have sticks in the house means they chew on those instead of wood furniture. I know by experience.

    • @HalfdeadRider
      @HalfdeadRider 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Really! sticks are not great anyway, they splinter and cut up their gums (rotten soft wood will clean their teeth well though), you can just give them a denta stick. If you distract from bad behaviour and reward good behaviour from a pup, they won't be chewing anything.

Noooooo soap bad . Soap can make the tick puke inside ur dog or salvate extra which is the same bad. U can't suffocate the tick it takes 3-15 breaths an hour . Get urself a tick laso or learn to use special tick tweezers , lyme disease is deadly to dogs and any stuff coming out of the tick into the dog is a risk of lyme disease

  • @arandomsanti3228
    @arandomsanti3228 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Better frozen treats alternatives then salty stocks frozen
.just ice (My dog loves just ice)
.frozen meat chunks, chicken hearts ect
.frozen bones (lamb, beef, deer, horse are all good raw) (infact if u pop down to the local butcher u might get some bones free)
    .bood cubes
    Some dogs like vegetables too
Frozen Carrots or broccoli are good to give to ur dogs ,but only as treats on occasion ,few times a week eg.
With all these healthier options why choose salty stocks
