I love how this video showcases the unique mechanics that MH4U had. Wystones, disposable earplugs... things that were new to the generation that later titles didn't see due to quality of life upgrades.
I miss the old armor point system. Mixing and matching to get as many positive skills while having just few enough negative ones so that they won't activate was a fun mental puzzle.
As much as I absolutely love the new GS from the gen 5 games, I miss this old style of playing greatsword which is all about observing the monster's moves and timing your draw attacks. Good thing Crit Draw GS is a viable build in Sunbreak and it's currently my favourite one to use.
@@primecalibur source? I am using it and I consistently get crits when I do fully charged draw attacks with 0% affinity weapon but full WEX full Crit Draw. I even tested it and it's more than 2 seconds. If you still think it's not a good build, Aris' recent video on the frostcraft GS would like to prove otherwise.
@@weebutrash8733 the skill description in the game is misleading. The affinity boost is granted after the draw attack is RELEASED, not after it HITS. It's stated in the MHRise wiki. You can test this out in the arena yourself, the affinity up icon appears when you release, which means the first draw attack hit still gets the affinity buff. So yeah, big misconception there.
I remember when gs art of unsheathing build used to be broken back in unite. it’s calming to know that crit draw build is still possible in recent titles. It’s like using old solutions on modern problems lol

Definitely a good deal of luck involved here. Garuga can do that double peck attack immediately after his tail spin, along with a few possible mix-ups that will catch you off guard. It's tricky and fast and will move it's head suddenly while you are charging. But let me mention the hitbox on that peck. Its very disjointed and is easy to be hit by. It's one of my least favorite moves, on one of my least favorite monsters. This bad boy garuga here would make a good replacement mascot for the Michelin man. It's tail and wings are particularly hard, and will bounce low charge attacks without fail. I can't even remember how many times I've been hit by that flying tail flip while believing I had a good opportunity to charge up a big hit. Overall, like the man said, position is key, but so is preparation and practice, garuga demands so.

Well at least from my experience in 4u But still a pain in the ass for other reasons, and speedruns usually only show the most cooperative ones. In the tail swep movement you can rush the position, the tail moves you but the movement does not hit you. It's a very fair position, sometimes it goes wrong, it's a lot of attempts to get that position.
That time when I play online LV.140 teostra just got destroyed by 4 great sword user they read it like a book so I just follow them like where they charge where they hit lmao miss that time so much

It's not though...they changed how it works: you get the affinity boost AFTER your draw attack, not during - and only 2 seconds after. Rise moment 😔
