As a Building Scientist I am actually excited about 3d printing possibilities.
    .
    .
    .
I appreciate the rounded edges of this building, but I think it is so unfortunate that this case example is a very simple 'square shape' building. 3D printing has the capability to really go crazy with curved walls. All other building materials: bricks , wood board, fibre board, etc all lend themselves to straight walls. Finally we have a game changing possibility to build houses with beautiful curves. Just think about the corner of any room and how much dead space is in that corner Now you can make buildings come alive with impeccable high quality precision and beautiful shapes leaving behind the construction materials of the past and introduce a bright new future.
    .
    .
I'm sure it's going to happen. And when you show it to us on TH-cam, I'll be watching (you have a new subscriber)

Also, circles have larger area/perimeter ratio than squares and rectangles, so shape can lend to energy efficiency. Octagon houses were a 19th century trend for this reason, but they were more difficult and expensive to build back then.

Pretty awesome. I'd like to see Delta printers used in home construction. That'd be one less leg to set up. Could drill 3 holes in the ground and drop in telephone poles that you either leave on site or just cut off at the bottom when you are done. Also to add a new section you'd only need to add one more telephone pole and transfer the cabling from one leg to the new leg. The legs that are left in place could be used for sail cloth or to string lights.
I'd also like to see someone try an aircrete mix on a 3d printed home. To keep the printhead at it's lightest I envision using a vacuum hose to suck the concrete up to the head on an as needed basis and mix it in the head with water from a hose. And add soapy water in before it is extruded. But that's all a guess and probably quite an expensive test to conduct the feasibility of a system like that.

    • @vanderumd11

Absolutely not. The price will likely increase. Think about a tractor vs human labor. You can have a job done with 5 men at $30per hour or one tractor at $220 per hour. Better equipment costs more

    • @12vLife
      @12vLife 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@vanderumd11 Perhaps, but not for long. At some point the machines will be mass produced and their price point, AI intelligence and dexterity will rival that of any human, minus all the human variables like skill level, accidents, planning, coordination, insurance, breaks, safety, security, errors, daylight, scaffolding, weather, transportation, unions, drama, sick leave.. etc.. I think it's inevitable and once they show up for work some human will jam gum in the nozzle when nobody is around.

Adding an appropriate length of trowel that oscillate on each side behind the printer head would smooth it out automatically as the concrete is still wet and pliable. If we can build robotics in this day and age capable of almost any complex set of instructions with accurate finished results, I'm sure a simple smoothing apparatus can be added.

You can buy this equipment from cobod or you can look into the other companies I’ve featured on this channel.

Hopefully the big doors are leaky ... cuz ... I don't see any ventilation or humidity control.

Nice building....but covering the 3d printer from winds will improve the lines in the wall.

No insulation. Ok for garages and out building that don't need cooling or heating.
