I think conflict inspires art. As long struggle exists people will continue to express themselves artistically

Conflict can and does inspire art but is it healthy for growth? If you can't create without conflict then is the art authentic?
There's art which comes from what's needed. Alot of the time, in struggle, there's more need. But we celebrate the struggle and people enjoy our struggle. It's sick.
I am not against addressing the struggle. We take it so seriously though. Then the art becomes a cry. The fans enjoy it. If you keep enjoying and reliving the struggle, growth will not happen easily.

@@AbuMmmBaba-rr7vz I agree with what you said.
But i think hip hop is uniquely tied to the "struggle" of any kind that's why eminems songs resonate. Or introspective songs like mr morale etcc. and I know that calls back to your earliest point about gatekeeping and defining parameters killing the growth of said labels. But genres exist for a reason. And something existing on the fringe doesn't make it any less. If it resonates enough it becomes a genre of its own and the cycle repeats
So is hip hop dead? I think as long as long as conflit exists it won't be.
One last point about gate keeping. I personally think that it's a double edged sword that can potentially filter capitalist interests from using the influence of these artist on the masses. Because if an artist appears to be a "plant" the culture won't trust. But we can easily be fooled once the suits learn how to give us want we want.

Hip hop is only dying cuz there's a bunch of immigrants doing what they want to do. They get popped up by the powers that be.
