      Why is it necessary to say that you are black ? Are you implying that you would expect black folks to only like other black folk artists as their favorites and the same with white folks? We should like them for their artistry and not have to be almost apologetic. My favorite artists include Sammy Davis Jr and Leontyne Price. They are not "Black" artists, they are great "artists" who happen to be black.

      🦓 Guess what ? I believe that it is o.k. if Mooky wants to announce anything , his age , sex , skin type . . . whatever .
      That is called 'free speech' .
      And , yes , Sammy is black . He had alot to deal with when touring around and looking for lodging or a place to eat .
      Did you ever think about that ?
      He also married a Scandavian woman , Britt May . Do you think that he noticed her skin type ?

      +Vanessa P ya but looking a certain way has nothing to do with yourself, it is not related to the the single person, dressing up is specifically for other peoples reaction and judgement. He was hiding his need for attention by making up an excuse saying its only for his enjoyment, ya fucking right, it is specifically and intentionally for others and their reactions. Case Closed.

    • @Rachel-dq5lo
      @Rachel-dq5lo 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      ReliveTheDream He has said in many, many, other interviews that he was "dressing up" years before he was famous. He's been doing it since he was eleven. You don't know him personally, so you can't assume he's doing it for attention. That's like saying dying your hair a different color is for attention. You can dress up, dye your hair, wear makeup, etc. without doing it for attention.

      Johnny's greatest gift was being able to ad-lib. He had in his mind a way the interview was going to go, but he knew who he was interviewing, and had the talent to go off-script and take the interview as far as it needed to go, and keep the viewer interested. He was a genius. If you were gay or straight, Jew or Arab, black or white, conservative or liberal, Johnny would be able to steer you into his interview.

      what!! He is totally wacked out! He imprisoned a young male escort with the help of a friend- chaining the kid to a wall and anally raping him repeatedly for days on end, before the kid broke free, jumped out the window and ran for help. A few years earlier while living in NYC, he called the cops claiming a (female) prostitute had stolen his cocaine. The cops arrived and found Boy George in a state of drug-induced psychosis, raving mad, with a bag of coke sitting in plain sight. He was given a slap on the wrist and got off with a week's worth of community service picking up trash in lower Manhattan.

    It’s surprising to read the comments and see everyone praising Johnny Carson for being so nice to Boy George. What else would he have done? Boy George was a guest on HIS show. This was a time when Americans weren’t always saying rude things to everyone and tweeting insults for breakfast. Carson was the HOST, not a guest host. He was a professional and already a part of Hollywood-a place where many people are different anyway. It would have been super stupid to invite an entertainer on your show and be rude to them. It’s not likely he’d be able to book anyone good after that if you’re dumb to them. George was beautiful, wonderful and very popular. It seems it would be effortless to be nice to him. Carson wasn’t doing George any favors. He did ask dumb, repetitive questions and 22 year old George handled them like the pro he already was. 🌸

    I worked a drag queen party in a casino showroom a couple of years ago and I was surprised at how many people bought tickets. We did a full rehearsal before the show. the cast was actually part of the crew. It was a fun and good day.

    They don't make the like Johnny anymore. He researched his guests "I read the article in Rolling Stone about you..." He's non judgmental and casual while sincerely asking his guest about themselves instead of telling his guest what he thinks about them. Classic. Funny now Boy George's cross-dressing is commonplace in America.

    I’m pretty conservative and I grew up in a time where Boy George was either loved or hated. I liked a few of his songs but wouldn’t admit it like most at that time. It shocks me that Johnny was so generous because that’s not how the world was back then. And watching this, Boy George was light years ahead of his time

    Was really cool to see how they clicked with each other and how cool Johnny was with him. Hard that may have been to keep his image relevant but it was still awesome cuz he could have made jokes about him and I think it is because of Boy George himself that jokes did not happen. So is like Boy George I thought he was beautiful and actually still lives attractive as a coach on The Voice.
