Well, I think this is good news… As long as they make it unique and give it character. The Saddledome may be old, but it is iconic. You need to create something memorable that will be looked back upon fondly in years to come.
Do they have all the funding for this that includes inflation and inevitable cost escalations so they don't come back later to tell everyone they can't do the full build out? How long is the final agreement stage? Is this whole thing going to be a 10 year process, or 20 years? I'm not holding my breath.
As long as there is no more environmental surprises that pushes them over budget again it will get built. I just hope they dont cut corners like in seattle there is Nowhere to park and they expect everyone to take transit to games. I hope a big parkade sky scraper will need to be built.
