Making and playing music is WORK and it's harder than most JOBS especially during the 90s when social media havent existed yet. It takes a LOT of time and effort to be really good at your instrument and just like athletes, musicians need to practice regularly to maintain a certain level.
Okay but Howard is such a good interviewer. I believe he asked the questions fast because that's how you get a natural response, you don't let the other person think of a fake or mild response but an honest, raw response. As an interviewer, he's smart and quick, I like him.

New York city i love Howard I saw him on Jerry Seinfeld comedians in cars getting coffee and he opened up about his father and it broke my heart cause I went through domestic violence from my own father
Wait What? Dave Grohl doesn't remember how or when he heard that Curt Cobain was dead?!? I remember where I was when I heard Howard Cossell announce on Monday night football that John Lennon had been shot & I wasn't even in the band(I was in elementary school)WTF?! Wouldn't that be a precise moment in time for a drummer in a globally popular rock band?
Thats why he became the biggest radio jockey ever. Some people hate him for it because it can come across as insensitive or inappropriate but he makes you talk about the interesting stuff that no other interviewer can get u to. He'll hammer you about your dad who left you and the impact it had or an affair you had with another celebrity etc and will get you to say more about it than you have in the previous 20 years.
@ Andrew Audet Yes, you could say there is a distinct difference between Howard and people like Jimmy Fallon it's pretty obvious. If anyone out there can't figure out who would be the better interviewer between those two I just mentioned then they have severe mental problems!
Dave is lying about how he found out or he really doesn't care. He remembers the moment he found out Kurt was gone 2:56 but doesn't want to talk about it so he has his non answer ready. Which is fine by the way.
I have come to realize that I have a finite amount of minutes on this earth while I'm still young enough to appreciate things like walking and breathing. I think I don't wanna waste any more of those minutes listening to Dave Grohl talk about his days in Nirvana over 25 years ago.

Dave joined around 1991, so for him it was closer to 3 years, but he did take on another “job” fronting the Foo Fighters, so not entirely true, but I get what you were saying: Nirvana kicked ass and those guys can coast through the rest of their lives because of it.
I bet, especially Krist, would give it all away just to have Kurt back. Dunno but Dave though 😂😂😂
Making and playing music is WORK and it's harder than most JOBS especially during the 90s when social media havent existed yet. It takes a LOT of time and effort to be really good at your instrument and just like athletes, musicians need to practice regularly to maintain a certain level.
Rip Kurt and Taylor :( 🌹🥀🕯️
Stern got no filter and doesn't use soft words to water down the things he says. I respect that
Howard needs to let his guest/s answer the question before cutting them off mid-way
RIP Taylor
Okay but Howard is such a good interviewer. I believe he asked the questions fast because that's how you get a natural response, you don't let the other person think of a fake or mild response but an honest, raw response. As an interviewer, he's smart and quick, I like him.
Always liked Dave as a musician - songwriter, and also as a person. When you listen to him, he seems like such a down to earth guy
This kills me watching this: Dave Grohl talking greatly about 2 amazing people and band members RIP Legends all 3
Totally grilled him and asked all the questions I would want to ask too that would just pop into my head ‘...and what about this? And what about that? Pow pow pow’ 💥
the only guy to get away with that
He is just a fan, I see
Right in the Kisser
Howard stern is the greatest interviewer of all time
0:15 Taylor's like "oh god more Nirvana questions?? just google it, everyone's asked these before"
This is the best 5 min interview ever
I think Dave has a lot of negative shit to say about Kurt but because of Kurt's god like image he just lets it be. He gave a little peek here. It would be interesting as hell to hear more
Good point
Yeah, the way he speaks about him reminds me of how you might talk about a friend that you still love but you no longer see much because of personal differences
amen🌪👻
Bindair Dundat I’d be pretty pissed to if my guitar player Decided to just off himself at the height of my career
I think that had Kurt not died and just went off and away and that was it for Nirvana, I think Dave would have had far different things to say about Kurt during those days.
hilarious line: "the last thing the drummer said before he was kicked out of the band is hey i have a song". So true...
They did marigold together ❤️ I don't know who's idea it was for that song but Dave sings in that one
How’re you gonna drop this on me in 2019. This is old, BUT THIS MAKES MY HEART HEAVY! 😭
4:00
*taylor reaction is pure gold*
Howard is such a pain, Dave is awesome!
I can’t believe Howard got him to answer those questions.
Such an interesting & easily missed tell when Dave says he’s not even sure how he found out about the death, maybe the news or something. If you’ve lost someone close to you, you’ll never forget the shock of hearing & how
I'm so thankful for this channel on TH-cam. I missed out on these years of Howard and missed gem interviews like these. Peace and love peace and love ✌️
I wish he would take his shoes off the couch
RIP Kurt RIP Taylor may you jam together up there and share stories of all the good times you had with your buddy Dave down here!
RIP Taylor & Kurt. Dave is a legend
Hello Howard Stern Iam from australia i have huge respect for Howard Stern. This is heartbreaking iam a singer songwriter myself but I wanna be a solo artist. My dream is to live in. New York city i love Howard I saw him on Jerry Seinfeld comedians in cars getting coffee and he opened up about his father and it broke my heart cause I went through domestic violence from my own father
I love how solid he comes across. I find that really calming 🙃
Can you imagine the moment Dave and Krist met after Kurt's death? Just thinking about it I start crying. :c
Wait What? Dave Grohl doesn't remember how or when he heard that Curt Cobain was dead?!? I remember where I was when I heard Howard Cossell announce on Monday night football that John Lennon had been shot & I wasn't even in the band(I was in elementary school)WTF?! Wouldn't that be a precise moment in time for a drummer in a globally popular rock band?
maybe he tried to block it out of his mind because its such a dark moment
Wow... I love Howard’s interviewing style. Goes right to the big questions.
Exactly a lot of interviewers act freindly and nice but secretly trying to ask the question.
Love him or hate him. Howard doesn’t fuck around when it comes to interviewing.
@@psyberiusblackWell said. And I love the way Robin just sits there and smiles and giggles!!
4:15 😭😭 so sad with taylor
Dave is lying about how he found out or he really doesn't care. He remembers the moment he found out Kurt was gone 2:56 but doesn't want to talk about it so he has his non answer ready. Which is fine by the way.
Dave's one of the most level-headed, pragmatic rockstars of all-time.
I have come to realize that I have a finite amount of minutes on this earth while I'm still young enough to appreciate things like walking and breathing. I think I don't wanna waste any more of those minutes listening to Dave Grohl talk about his days in Nirvana over 25 years ago.
he said i haven't done drugs since i was a kid -20! i used to think a kid was someone younger than 9-now it's 20!
Dave is great - honest and to the point. Didn’t sugar coat shit, said how it is even with the touchy subject. You can tell he really misses Kurt still - you’re the man Dave !
NIRVANA didnt even come close to peaking. I think Kurt would have ended up using some of daves material for sure. Imo, they werent together long enough
He did already, the Scentless Apprentice riff was from Dave.
Dave’s material is not really the kind of material I could see Nirvana playing.
This is probably why Dave never pushed his material
i dont know, kurts voice was shot. I personally love bleach and incesticide and think the me punky version of Nirvana was their peak although the later albums are fantastic too, i just feel the early stuff was more relatable, band in a garage type vibe and less world superstardom and he was a bit happier.
They used that one song marigold.. I mean I think they were just about peaked out honestly
Modest Mouse are a good example of what Kurt would have done, I think. Although he adored R.E.M and truly wanted to make music like that, so..
Finally an interview with all the questions we’ve wanted to ask. 👍
I thought of this interview when I heard the news
I like how quick Howard is to lead the interview foward, no scripts just the right questions at the right time.
