- Louisiana native Iris Duplantier Rideau became the first Creole woman to own a winery in the U.S. in October 1997. She shares her journey of making history in her book, "From White to Black: One Life Between Two Worlds" that is a powerful account of her life from New Orleans to California and life changing events throughout the years that have informed who she is today.
