      Hadyn Lander It depends on how good you are at driving in real-life i suppose. My friends found it hard and most of them does not have a drivers lisence. Those who i know of that drives in real life found it easier. Or i should put it like this: Faster to come into the game than those without a drivers lisence.

    Some tips I can give is to practice making your car break loose when approaching turns doing Scandinavian flicks. I do this alot especially when approaching 3's and 4's. Another tip I can give, when approaching hair pins where using the handbrake to get the car to come around the turn, before engaging the handbrake tap the left foot brake first this will transfer the weight of the car to the front wheels and allow them to "bite" and will create a pendulum effect as the rear breaks loose and swings around while the front wheels pulls the car into the inside of the turn.

    • @vincentbaelde-millar670
      @vincentbaelde-millar670 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've never needed a pendulum turn on a 3 or a 4, trail braking should do the job just fine if engine braking doesn't.

    • @kyousey

    • @charliebernhardt410
      @charliebernhardt410 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I usually do the flicks in the hairpin turns. Never do flick in turns easier than a hairpin turn, unless it's a square, or 1 turn.

    • @Ghost12973N
      @Ghost12973N 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@charliebernhardt410 Right. What it really boils down to it is just judging the turns, using what works best for you, and see if it shaves off a few seconds on your run.
      Also as Vincent Baelde-Miller mentioned, engine braking is a great thing to pick up too.

    the best advice i can give to the new players of dirt rally is: avoid the Lancia 037 in the group B (RWD) class and the Lancia Stratos in the 1970 class at the beginning. they're unforgivable oversteer monsters and if you are too brutal with them(especially the 037. it's like driving on eggs with this car), you'll get your car extremely damaged. so, avoid them on the beginning to learn how works the physics first. later, you can take them ;)

    Something that helped me, is changing the transmission to a manual clutch one over an automatic one. I played most of DiRT 2 and 3 with an automatic, changing to manual once I got the hang of driving, but knowing DiRT Rally was much harder, I went back to automatic so I could focus more on controlling the car over shifting. Once I changed to a manual the car felt 100x better and helped me be able to control where my car was going through corners better. On automatic the car always felt like a solid rock that never turned, once changed, it felt like I could maneuver once again. I know its common sense for most to play on a manual already, but for someone who plays racing games a bit more casual, using an automatic may have not been tried.

  • @hashrulsubzero
    @hashrulsubzero 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    2:09-3:17 That is true. If you are going to become a rally driver competing in your local rally events or just play any rally games, *YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO YOUR CO-DRIVER*. In fact, the driver is the one telling the co-driver what to write in his pacenotes during recce so the co-driver can tell the driver what corner is coming up during a race, so it's logical that the driver should learn what those calls mean. So please do not ignore this advice. Good commentary ;)

    Pro Tip: Get a Steering Wheel and Pedals! I've been playing for a while now with an XBOX ONE controller but it is SO MUCH easier with a wheel. It's a bit counterintuitive, but for the most part your steering inputs (besides countersteering) will need to be very small, which can be very difficult with analog sticks.
    If you've got clumsy thumbs and a sim isn't an option for you, I've found Kontrol Freeks (usually used for FPS games) can help by extending your thumb's range of motion. This makes it a bit easier to cope with the need for small steering inputs.
    Glad to see a DiRT specific channel! Your first commentary is better than many guys who've been doing it for a while lol

  • @burakertug4524

    Btw these are really beginner tips as the video suggests, i really thought it would be a bit more in depth. For example controlling your car in a slide with throttle and brake rather than steering wheel, or usage of handbrake, or apex of a corner, or timing of a brake. I think these are the things that will help a beginner more than this video. Don't get me wrong these are the basics yea, but if someone coming to a badass sim rally game from an arcade racing platform.... Oh boy, i pity the fool.

      Firstly - turn off ALL of the supposed aids - like steering correction, ABS, traction etc.
      Then you will get to know your car properly - every mistake you make will be your own, not the game's (plus you get a credits bonus for doing that).
      That's how you will genuinely learn the limits of your vehicle.
      Secondly - drive your vehicle just as you would do in real life.
      If I was on gravel, in the wet, I would take things easy.
      Losing control of your car in real life means becoming dead or disabled .. treat this game the same way and you'll go far.
      It's not hard to do - just imagine that this is a real situation, and apply all of your real world driving experience.

    thank you very much for this video that will help many people, because this game is very deep and so as Dirt2 and Dirt3. You guys,( viewers), should listen carefully to what this tutorial say, because every thing matter in rally, don't leave some thing without knowing it perfectly, this will result in an awesome experience that you will never forget and you will play dirt even after completing the game because it is not limited, I mean the experience and enjoyment.
    When you spend lots of time leaning from your mistakes, you will improve in a way that you might find some thing which is an important fact, but you have found it from the experience. For example, in the video the commentator said that you can use the clutch as a downforce to get the car to slow its speed, this is fact, for me I didn't know that but with my experience I noticed its effect on the car while I was trying to drift for many time,( this was a long time ago), when I saw this video I was happy that I knew this from the experience I had, And here comes the really great thing about Dirt Games. For me, I love these videos, because no one would do this in the past... I don't know why?! , make it a series of tutorials, many thing could be taught, like Co-Driver word explanations and many other more

      +Sekai Ori No Game No We do eventually plan on something like this! Our main issue is time and upload speeds, unfortunately the both of us don't have the best of internet upload speed and WeBe runs also his own channel so its harder for him to spend time making content for this one as it already takes him around 6 hours to make a video for his own! We'll see what we can do!

    I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds this game (particularly RWD) much harder than Dirt 3. I thought RWD in D3 was tough but in this game I'm like "what's the benefit of this?"
    In FWD or AWD, I find I can just mash the gas pedal and slow down when I need to, effectively making me go as fast as the car (and physics) will let me, while having pretty good control. But in RWD I feel like you're at a huge disadvantage, where you're wasting a lot of acceleration time just trying to get the car to stabilize. Even when I let go of the trottle, RWD cars just feel like the tires are made of plastic, where I'm still struggling to go straight.
    I think RWD would be much easier if I had a real wheel and pedals, because being fast and precise via a tiny thumbstick and trigger seems too hard.

    My biggest two tips: Drive with bonnet/hood cam or even first person! If you say " I can't do that view!", get used to it, it's better. Second, this is a tip for sharp corners or hairpins more or less. When doing a handbrake turn, keep in mind you can come into these pretty fast, but don't just use the handbrake, you can maintain a level of control by using the foot brake as well. Use it to slow yourself if you're carrying too much speed. Practice makes perfect!

    Also remember ABS OFF, Stability control Off, Traction control off is the most fun way to play but if you drive something like the Sapphire Cosworth you'll spin out a lot. Keep revs medium some cars turbos are high revs and short shifting or just treading lightly on the throttle is the way to go, only flat out when the track is straight. Usually cars with Engine Front and 4WD are the better ones for the scandi flicks and that the end feels more like it w ill go where you point it but the mid ranged 4wds tend to feel like they have weight and more grip.
    So excited for Dirt 2.0 xDD

      IAMJAKETRIMBLE You are right my friend, I am driving without aids although I only have the stock pad and no wheel. What bugs me about Wales is that it's great in dry conditions but in wet conditions it says "gravel" and it feels like mud: Less traction than on ice (with spiked tires).
