It's hard to win over that crowd who are essentially waiting for KPop groups to appear. This is the genius of Mori (and KZ Tandingan too who sang a Chinese song whilst performing on a Chinese show). She chose the most popular breakup Korean song and changed most of the lyrics to English AND then sang the last part in Korean which made the crowd go wild.
That's how you win a crowd.

Morissette's performance at the 2017 Asia Song Festival in South Korea was outstanding, the Koreans were so amazed by what they witnessed, a Filipina singing "Secret Love Song" and "Emotions - Best of My Love" mashup, and were surprised hearing her whistle notes, that she was nicknamed "Asia's Phoenix". They were so impressed that they invited her again for the 2018 Asia Song Festival, the first and only time a singer/artist from the Philippines was invited two years in a row in the said music event. And Mori once again proved that she never disappoints. If the Koreans admired her in the 2017 ASF, they loved her for her 2018 ASF performance, with such an emotional and powerful rendition of an original Korean ballad titled "Resignation" in English translation. Did you hear the resounding applause they gave her? They were amazed with her beautiful voice and her gorgeous belting high notes, they were resonating and filled the whole stadium. What surprised them more was that she was able to sing the last part in Korean - that was what she meant when she said she wanted to challenge herself and put her twist into it, because she is not speaking Korean, she only studied and learned that part so she could deliver a rendition that would win the hearts of the audience, and it surely did! Not only did she give justice to the song vocally, but she also put her heart into it. And that was what endeared her more to the Koreans who were there, and to all of us who have watched this video since then. 🥰
The fact that she learned Korean to translate such a beautiful song says it all, so glad they invited a class act back who knows how to bring the house down every time 💃🔥she never half steps and is fully committed to every performance, we loved it. ❤

Not only did she sing their biggest ballad in their country , in their language ,she squeaked and cried her ass off making it all her own. Girl is fierce.
I’m a harsh judge when it comes to singers. I know there are hundreds and thousands of really good singers out there in the world and I’ll probably never get to experience them all. But ever since I discovered Morissette 2 years ago I literally stopped looking for an replacement for Whitney.
In my opinion a really great singer is one that can perform their phenomenal vocals LIVE(not in a studio recording or live streaming in their room) on stage. I know in today’s technology there is the ability to use auto tune while on stage but this girl is the real deal. She is truly one of the best stage performer in the music industry right now.

Very similar sentiments here. My friends and I are music geeks, and sometimes we would discuss what our "perfect voice" would sound like. My perfect voice was an amalgamation of the qualities I admired most in singers like Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Beyonce and others, but she didn't exist in real life. Until several years later, when I randomly came across a Morissette video and there she was. Such a wacky feeling to see the living, breathing version of a singer you thought only existed in your imagination.

She did a cover of Resignation uploaded in her channel. She sang that rendition in English, Filipino and Korean. That's why it is a multilingual cover. Though I prefer this live performance, that one was amazing. I don't know why, but this girl is always better live. She makes every cover and the own originals 10000x better than the recoding. Anyway, you should check that out.
