Have you ever written a tragic hero or tragic protagonist?

I trilogy I only wrote 2 books for, before I abandoned, had 5 MCs and 3 were tragic heroes. The 2 most tragic were 1 - a chimera experiment who, along with special abilities, lived in constant pain of his body being malformed, even after surgeries didn't help. And 2 -an anti-chimera mega athlete who uses his platform to preach that chimera aren't human and should have no rights and should be destroyed. The Chimera was working for the corporation who created him, investigating the athlete to discredit him. They independently discover the horrors of the experiments were worse than either of them imagined and when the chimera shares his info and the athlete actually shows compassion for him, they develop mutual respect; not enough to align their goals. Neither of them could win without the other losing everything. I abandoned it because I pants it and couldn't come up with an ending. :o(

I really appreciate you taking the time to share your story with me. It sounds like you had a lot of passion and creativity in your trilogy. Endings can be tough, but don't let that discourage you. Keep writing and exploring new ideas, and who knows, you might just come up with the perfect ending someday! I've shelved plenty of stories!

Good episode! I'm my novel, both the heroe and antiheroe have the same goal : protect their family, no matter what. But of course, to do it they have to endanger the family of the other... I have so much fun!

Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the episode and found the dynamic between the hero and antihero interesting. It's always fun to explore complex relationships in storytelling.

How are you doing mr Aaron. Thank you for your educational channel. We appreciate your great efforts as foreigners subscribers as overseas students want to increase our cultural level improve our English as well literature lovers. I gathered main information about topic you mentioned briefly here it’s first of all definition of tragic hero is person of noble birth with heroic qualities. This person fated by gods or supernatural force to doom and destruction at least to great suffering. Example of modern tragic hero is jay Gatsby. According to Aristotle tragic hero evokes our pity and terror as he neither throughly good not throughly bad but mixture of both .tragic hero characteristics such as born of noble birth with some kind of imperfection that make them human and relatable, they have been wounded by some traumatic experiences, they have fatal leads to some kind of realization, they have meet significant dam fall. Main difference between tragic hero and antihero is antihero is someone who lacks heroic qualities. They might do good things on other hand tragic hero remains with strong moral and good intentions with exception of their fatal flaw than trip them up .

Last part of my research how to develop tragic hero by following tips such as your protagonist should have some combination of virtuous admirable or advantageous traits , develope one or more of these admirable traits as fatal flaw . Progression of fatal flaw should be believable due to this fatal flaw your character must suffer reversal of fortune . Shakespeare presents Romeo as tragic hero whose character flaws lead not only to his death but to deaths of multiple other characters in play . Thank you for giving us chance to read learn new information improve our English as well. Best wishes for you your loved ones.
