Thanks for the seal link. My pressure washer key rode up and took out my seal. I plan to use a small hose clamp to hold the seal in place. Seems to be a issue. Also a piece of PVC pipe works to tap the seal in. Or any type of tubing really that is slightly smaller than the OD of the seal.

Always check with your Honda dealer and reference your engine number to ensure you order the correct seal. Whilst some of the later OHC GCV160 engines use this crankshaft seal, the earlier model GCV160 engines have a 25mm diameter shaft. This seal is for 28mm crankshafts.

My pressure washer has been leaving drips here and there on the garage floor for a year now, and today it started to drip on the pump while I was pressure washing, causing a really nasty smell. Exact same thing happened to the seal on mine. I live in a cold climate so I pull the pump in the fall and store it in the basement to prevent freezing (I keep the motor in the yard-shed). This spring when I put it back together I must not have noticed that the key had ridden up. The first time we used it, it destroyed my seal. (The only reason I shut it down before all the oil was gone was because I was letting my son do the work and I just happened to walk over to the unit and see oil flying.)
Your video is particularly helpful since the seal was completely destroyed and I wasn't sure if the metal of the engine had been damaged. Based on the video, I think I'm fine and just need a new seal. Thank You!

You ever had that orange/red colored seal go bad at the top of the pump itself? I've got gray looking oil leaking out from the top of the pump (it runs down the pump when I lean the pressure washer back. I haven't taken the pump off yet but I know for sure the oil is not coming from the seal at the bottom of the engine as that is dry and has no oil coming from there.

@@DIYAllied sweet deal. I have had a small leak from my pressure washer since I got it used about 1.5 years ago. There is no oil coming out of the engine crank shaft though. I disassembled the pump from the engine. I put the pump on a paper towel vertically to see if it leaks down. The engine is now exposed with the crank shaft. I see no leaks on either seals. If I run my finger down the dip stick I feel oil residue. I purchase a new dipstick (Honda oem) as I heard it can be as simple as just this if the old one is defective (probably not though). I’ll give it a week and see which leaks the pump or the crank shaft. I purchased a crank shaft seal anyways in case mine is bad. It’s hard to tell. Only leaks when it’s sitting for long periods of time and not in use 🤷‍♂️
