      I always thought he should have a TV show on PBS, like This Old House. I'm sure people would find his work fascinating.

    Great restoration, the repair to the base is probably far better than the original and a lot stronger. As you said it is unlikely that anyone would want to separate the two pieces.
    Don't leave it too long before your next release. 👍👍

    Another great video. Thank you. When I do veneer repairs I like to do them before I strip the furniture (providing they show up then) that way the squeeze out is on the old finish not bare wood. I saw your special putty knife. I buy small flush cut saws from Harbor Freight and I had an old dull one and I ground off the teeth and rounded the corners and it is great for loose veneer. It is thin and if necessary you can get eight inches or so under the veneer. Hope you have a great Holiday season and don't work too hard

    Hey, Good to see ya. Table came out GREAT!!!!! In my area of the world (High Plains of Colorado) the Furn. bizz has improved just a bit, not great, but better. I have had some luck with upholstered stuff, sofas and chairs from the 50's & 60's, I have a lot of fabric from that era. Keep on the sunny side.

    Good job! Really am kinda sad it's no longer lighter in the center and got darker at you went to the edge of the table. That color gradation is my favorite part of depression era furniture.

    Hi Larry Enjoyed watching you skillfully give this table a new lease on life! Just FYI .....I have had good luck using wide stainless steel drywall finishing knives in veneer repairs. Wallboard brand is a favorite. When applying the glue to the veneer for this specific table might you have let gravity help you out by remounting the top vertically? I have also warmed up glue (both yellow and premade hide) to reduce it's viscosity so it "runs" in to tight paces better. regards vic

    Stand the work piece on end and then gently open the separated veneer with a putty knife, and put the glue down into the void. Lay the piece down flat then work the glue around. You will get more glue in and better coverage

    • @LostMountainRestoration
      @LostMountainRestoration  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely correct. In this case, I felt I had plenty of glue in there to effect the repair. Thanks for watching!
