Peter Sellars was one of the funniest people on the planet. Both his parents were "mad" and so was he and neurotic but he left a fabulous body of work which still stands up today. Shalom Peter.
With the exception of a Monty Python skit, watching Peter Sellers do a parody of Sir Laurence Olivier doing Richard III whilst reciting Beatles lyrics is, well---you can't get any better than that for comedy Brit-style🇬🇧 But the smile on Lennon's face said everything👏🤩❤️🌠 Pairing Sellers and Beatles is------- FAB !!☺️🥳🎉
I always thought he looked like John on the clips of him doing 'A Hard Day's Night' as Larry Olivier as Richard III! I've also noticed Tim Brooke-Taylor doing a similar voice for one of his characters in I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again.
Thanks!! Sellers will always be CHIEF Inspector Clouseau of the Surtee or his paralytic caricature of Werner Von Braun in Dr. Strangelove to me. But who can forget his fiendish Fu Man Chu or The Mouse That Roared!🤣
"Can we go over five o' clock or will the union trouble you, brother? ". No, silly, not the union, he just wants to go home... Come on, Peter. It's NOT Richard III, it's A Hard Day's Night...Everybody can recite A Hard Day's Night, it's two verses and a chorus.
This is an enjoyable, if weird composite of pieces from different sources, is that Victor Lewis Smith at 4.00 per chance?!? Sounds quite like him. If so, what was that from??
There's a tape from the Get Back sessions....shortly before Ringo was due to start work on _The Magic Christian_ with Sellers...where he drops in to see the Fabs, and it could not be more obvious they wanted him to piss off. John is his typical rude self. There may even be film of it. It does not make for happy listening...a 44 year old man trying to be hip to impress stoned 25 year olds.
@@prettyshinyspaghetti8332 i agree with you. maybe it’ll be included in the new ‘let it be’ episodes we’re getting in november. i know it’s very easy to hate on john at this time too, but recently i’ve been alerted to think about his situation, and how he was probably in the worst mental state around this time (heroin use and having to go through yoko’s miscarriage). i don’t even like them as a couple but there’s no way they just took that in their stride. so i wouldn’t just put john’s attitude as being ‘typical rude self’. he had a lot going on, and he admired sellers greatly.

Here, here!
WHAT A JOY to see stuff like this ! Pure Magtic, from an unparalleled era !
Many thanks for this. I had not seen any of the outtakes before. And it was even nicer to see George talking about Peter Sellers.
thank you very much for the video
We love you Peter and miss you

As a kid, I always regarded Peter Sellers the Lennon of comedy

Peter Sellers and The Beatles, TH-cam *_finally_* suggest a video that was excellent to watch!
Bloody Brilliant! 🤣
I got a Psychic Reading Service advert before this video and I think Peter is messing with me from beyond the grave
Coincidentally, Ringo worked with Peter sellers in The Magic Christian.
Kite made an appearance in there, what a wonderful treat to see him work
Coincidentally, both John Lennon and Peter Sellers died in 1980
They looked like brothers - same nose, same smile. Geniuses.
This is my first time seeing the Beatles holding their Grammy Awards!!😊😘
He looks like Lennon in the video still.
A bit of trivia: Peter Sellers had a phobia of the color purple.
He wasn't too keen on green either.
In the film 'Sybil', Sally Field as the lead character describes purple as 'a sad colour'.
That's also Michael Bentine at the start. Two Goons for the price of one.

See Being There the film he always struggled to get the money for and was the last film he did. Beautifully done if slightly bitter sweet
@@johndoyle5184 I love him in that role!
....I've uploaded some of this before - but there were a couple more of the out-takes on another documentary recently, so they've been added !
Laugh, I thought I'd never start
...George was interviewed for this in 1997....
The great Peter Sellers getting the Beatles lyrics wrong? Priceless. What show is this from?
Lennon & McCartney Music Show
Correct title: "The Music Of Lennon & McCartney".
Really cool.
What is the George Harrison interview in this video clip from?
Always Spike Milligan was my favourite Goon... Looks like Paul McCartney as a boy in contact foto? George r.i.p. lovely peep...
This is an enjoyable, if weird composite of pieces from different sources, is that Victor Lewis Smith at 4.00 per chance?!? Sounds quite like him. If so, what was that from??
Ok, perhaps it isn't (VLSmith). He has the same intonation/delivery though!
I could listen to George Harrison talk about anything.

The footage is very brief. I doubt they were annoyed with him, they loved him too much. Just might've been framed like that

It was on the Victor Lewis-Smith documentary about Sellers.
I was never a fan of Peter Sellers. I loved this though. He also sang Help as a Vicar raising money for the church.
and "Money Can't Buy Me Love", where he plays two parts and "She Loves You" as Dr Strangelove............
@@SuperNevile, There are three different versions of "She Loves You" by Peter.
Never met lovely Rita in person
I should be sleeping on the bog ...
Also - Steven ... are you related to Sgt Rutter?????
They had autocue back then, and idiot boards, there was no excuse for this.
This isn’t funny.
True. Noobs fawning as they do.
