8 blocks for one square meter would be Php816 per square meter. Cheaper than AAC which is at least Php1200 per square meter. But its not available any more according to the company. They ceased production of the blocks. Only making the panels now.
    What did you use?

The rough outside of Lite Block. The amount of steel and filling. Overall was almost the same cost as hollow block.
We ended up using LightStrong. More cost effective than Starken. Starken blocks are 60x20 whereas Light Strong is 60x30. Less contact time means more cost effective plus the sales centre was terrible.
Our initial costing was done per SQM but so many cited finished costs. Biggest reason for AAC of any type is the finishing cost is virtually zero relative to hollow block. 3layers of sand and cement plus extra putty layers (white skim coat, I call it putty)
If we were building today… Dr J. Has a poor sales outlet but they did accommodate a site visit and they make both reinforced panels and standard 60x60 panels. Panels means your finishing is a bit more like drywall with seams floor to ceiling.
Clarence is currently getting 2023/24 costing from LightStrong and Dr J. His build will start in a few months.

Where are you going to build?

Another project to watch is the Armstrong build. I tried to warn him about AAC and flooding on old rice fields. The blocks (in their case) needed to be on a 30cm pony wall. The aac ended up in the water. Ouch. Can you say mold issues. 😂 we all live an learn.
If you see our videos of us going directly onto the slab and not the footing wall, you’ll hear me cite Canadian code. We did what a Ph gov did. On the outside we put a slight slope between the AAC and the slab, on the outside of the house, to ensure no standing water.

@@kenlyn2208 we are located in Davao City and are almost finished with building our family home. The AAC will be for future projects especially relating to our church ministry. Here in the neighborhood, I see one house using AAC. I am still looking for a local distributor of AAC with a warehouse in Mindanao, as the quotes I received will add about 20% to the AAC cost for shipping from Luzon. Also without a local source we cannot use AAC blocks for small projects or testing.

@@kenlyn2208 I have seen the Armstrong family AAC videos and it looks like the Stärken blocks he used are of a good quality. Depending on the amount of water that got into the walls from the flooding, it could take a few months to completely dry out. I think his walls were already plastered when the typhoon hit, so I think this should be manageable.
It is difficult to build anything in a rice growing area and the floor level should probably be at least two feet above the finished road surface. We have a rice farm and the area is often flooded so much that you cannot see the road any more. We are not currently planning to build a house there though.
