@@opaquea2448 Full album reactions are difficult. I'm personally battling copyright claims on my album reaction for TWICE, where every b-side got the video blocked globally, plus it's difficult to edit together in a visual medium, so probably not for now
Thank you and I am happy that you like BTS and want to know them.💜Dance line bts 4: jhope, jimin, V and jk . jhope and jimin = Main Dancer. Jungkook and V = Lead Dancer Dancer.
Aaron nailed it. The whole album (BE) is their Pandemic stories. Some depressed, some hopeful. They were literally shooting in their apartment. They all lived together for about 10 years. The bedroom scene is Jimin and j-hope's actual bedroom. This whole album was done during lockdown.
Actually there is one live performance of RUN BTS! It was at their free concert for the Busan expo 2030, if you search "Run BTS 'Yet to Come' Busan" you'll see the performance uploaded on their BANGTANTV channel 😊
I can't believe I am being THAT GIRL, but I think the guys would enjoy BTS's harder hitting songs like ON:Kinetic Manifesto, Mic Drop (Steve Aoki Mix), etc.. Everything Janci is choosing is poppy, though I appreciate Aaron and Eric's open mindedness. I just think that limiting all 5 songs (and that's all they are gonna get) to one style is a disservice. One of the things I love most about BTS is their diversity and ability to fuse genres in a cool way. Just my two cents.
I think most of us agree these pics for their reactions aren't really showing BTS' range as a group. I kind of wish they had done polls are something each week to decide what video they would do. Or they needed someone with more BTS knowledge to pick the videos. But I still like the reactions.
@@crystalsnow1138 Agreed! I'm enjoying the reactions too; I just get antsy when I know songs they would like more are at our fingertips.(more their own style) I think Aaron would adore Tae's Singularity, and he'd be running home to play it for Melanie... hahaha (even tho the lyrics) For Eric, anything that has an ethnic world music flavor (I think) and both would appreciate some stomping and headbanging songs. Of course I could be completely wrong.
I agree, and I honestly think that in the 'Spring Day' video, she explained the song in a way that kinda takes away what makes it special and sad, especially for Koreans
Yes!! Agreed. Like I love the boys melancholic or poppy tracks but it's time they see the hard choreo and hard hitting tracks which BTS is known for😅 I always get antsy when they only show 1 type of genre when bts has never been the type to stick to 1
@@yourfavoriteanonymous_-9093 I don't expect her to know all of the details like a more deeply invested ARMY does. I also don't expect Eric and Aaron to be able to distinguish who's who. These are potentially casual fans, so I just want them to experience the music enuff that they may continue checking out BTS on their own. :) Blindwave is just broadening their horizons, and spending time with their SOs. I think it's interesting when the guys are exposed to new genres. So I'm chill about the depth of things being presented to them. I'm more concerned with the sample of music chosen not being representative of their diverse styles and genre fusion. Sorry that was so long. I just wanted to clarify 💜💟💜 Columbia Cousins and Wives seems to be doing a fairly in depth jump down the rabbit hole and Landon Mark REALLY went down the hole. He created the BTS Roadmap with another ARMY
Dance practices are (generally) done in their own street or workout clothes. They dress how they want. Jimin's outfit from the Airplane Pt 2 dance practice with his Italian boots and leather jacket is legendary and has its own fandom, and that's just all Jimin. The long hair in RUN BTS dance practice is less a "concept" and more a reflection of the fact that they were facing their looming military service where they all would have to shave their heads, so they all grew their hair out during that time period. My brother did the same thing before joining the Navy in 1990. The Busan free concert was their last concert as a group before military service and this practice was for that concert. BTS has never had fake boy band personas. That is kind of the whole point of them. Their "brand" from the beginning is their authenticity. They are themselves. They have always been themselves. Raw, honest, real, genuine. Even in their vlogs before they debuted, they were sharing their fears and worries, hopes and dreams, and just being their chaotic, silly and loving selves. In fact, the big brands they are signed with as global reps now chose each of them because their personal style reflected the brands ethos in some way. Like the quirky, artsy uniqueness of Bottega Vaneta with RM or the casual rock n roll bad boy aspect of Calvin Klein with Jungkook, or the elegance and grace of Dior and Tiffany with Jimin, or the experimental, modern street hip dynamism of Louis Vuitton with j-hope, etc.
Just to round out the list: There is also the timeless classiness mixed with embracing bold statement pieces of Celine and Cartier with V/Taehyung, the classic, masculine smooth coolness of Gucci and FRED Jewelers with Jin, and the clean, sharp, very grown up feel of Valentino with Suga/Yoongi . Suga is also the NBAs first ever global ambassador, because he plays and loves basketball.
They had "boy band personas" during debut, but they always made fun of it. Like JK complaining loudly about having to be the cute maknae when he wanted to workout, or Jimin saying something like "that's my role" on a shared vlog when somebody else (can't remember who) said something sweet
They did have more typecast “roles” in the very beginning (like Jimin was “sexy” and lifted his shirt during dances, Jin was portrayed as cold but handsome, etc, but pretty quickly (basically always) were very authentically themselves. I think the agency figured out quickly that we love their chaotic side just as much as their professionalism! I think what helped was that they were filming logs since pre-debut where people got to know their personalities and they learned to feel comfortable chatting and playing on camera. Nowadays they just do whatever they want lmao, I don’t think there are any “roles”, they are just humans with different personalities and preferences and musical identities. Even the shift they do with every new album feels very real - they always write albums about topics that they’re going through at the time (Persona with Boy With Luv were written when they were extremely famous and questioning their public image, BE with Life Goes On was written in 2020 when they were in COVID Lockdown, Run BTS was for their 9-year anniversary looking back at their struggles and achievements and saying good job to themselves and that they’ll keep going). So the outfits and aesthetics represent their emotional/mental states.
This is only partially true, that they sort of had personal concepts at debut. Also, initially, they were all supposed to lift their shirts in the choreo, but then they decided to just have Jimin do it. Big Hit had never trained a group before, and they were struggling with Producer/CEO Mr Bang's mandate that the boys were to just be themselves and not some slick, produced product. It had never been done before, and they didn't know what that would look like or how it would work. The boys themselves also were all still teenagers and were still figuring out who they were as people too, as well as who they wanted to be as artists. Iniitially, based on advice from well-meaning adults or their own ideas, some of them tried on personas that didn't fit them, as most kids do, and then they shed those. Jin, as the eldest and the "visual" of the group, was encouraged individually and culturally to be cool and aloof. It was the "cool, handsome guy" persona popular at the time. But since Jin is a giant dork who loves dumb puns, dad jokes and teasing his brothers, he quickly dropped that idea in favor of just being himself. Jimin tried to be hard and tough to fit the group's hip hop aesthetic and sound. But Jimin is a lovely, sweet, gentle soul, and that tough persona felt painful for him. He eventually embraced himself as he is. And so on with the others. They just naturally grew into themselves as they aged.
Yes, that’s what I was trying to express, thanks for saying it more understandably! I used the quotation marks around “roles” on purpose, because I do think both the members and big hit were very new/young/inexperienced during debut days and it took a bit of trial and error and growth before everyone matured and got comfortable. I only mentioned Jimin and Jin specifically because they’ve shared about how they struggled with those things in the beginning (Jin said his cold/quiet persona was a concept, and ARMY started seeing his actual self a bit later, and Jimin’s interview of “hurry up and be me soon” is always stuck in my head.) But I know J-Hope also took some time to settle into how energetic and bubbly he wanted to be, and all members had their own journeys before getting to where we are now. That’s what the whole persona/map of the soul series is about. I just don’t want blind wave to think they are all type cast into set roles - it’s normal to struggle with one’s identity and celebrity persona and public image, especially starting this lifestyle at 13-18 like they did. Like I said, they all have the freedom to do and say whatever they want and feels true to them.
I was commenting about their early "personas" or roles somewhere else. I think it's not only the company realized it wasn't needed, it's also that the members always kind of made fun of it (I felt that while watching their earlier logs here on TH-cam and reading the translated blog posts), so it just did not make sense to keep enforcing it
Their dance practice outfits are iconic. Some will look like they just woke up and threw on whatever was clean and others will look like they are ready for a night out on the town (I'm look at you Jimin Airplane Pt. 2 dance practice). I imagine they do coordinate their outfits though because most of the time they do look cohesive when it comes to their dance practice outfits.
This song was helping Army cope with the CoVid shutdown and saying that life will go on. The song is like a balm to my heart. I miss them so much while they’re in the military. I’m so glad you’re getting a chance to watch them sing live to realize their singing ability. These boys actually sing when dancing in live performances. No lip synching or autotune. This song doesn’t even showcase the full range of their abilities.
@@kronostvx You're right. BTS uses it when they are trying to create an audio-effect, not because they can't sing normally and/or hit notes (which is the case with quite a number of "singers" in the US). I'm so used to autotune meaning the latter, that I forget it's used for sound effects. I stand corrected.
I'd attribute BTS's success to the fact that they are very much themselves in their group. They started off having those roles of the "sexy one, cute one, etc" but they abandoned that concept pretty early on and in my opinion it contributed a lot to their success. They have A LOT of behind the scenes footage and vlogs showing their journey through success which also portrays their personalities really well. I didn't listen to K-pop a day in my life until I saw them in concert in 2021 just accompanying a friend who had an extra ticket and what pulled me in was their individuality and showmanship. Of course they cannot completely reveal everything about themselves but they have a very strong sense of authenticity and vulnerability that makes the audience relate to them and see them as friends rather than celebrities.
This song (and the album it’s the title track to, BE) is about the members feelings during the pandemic. Yes, the stadium V is looking at while driving is the olympic stadium in S Korea. It’s where BTS holds their concerts in Seoul. They had a MASSIVE world tour which was getting ready to begin when the shut downs due to the pandemic started.
Bts are always themselves , they don't try to be someone they are not In some western bands they kinda promote that specific member as the bad boy or the mysterious one for example ,but Bts are just group of regular guys who have different personalities 💜
They are all musicians and Suga, Jin have both played piano and guitar on stage with a live band while Jungkook has played drums live on stage. RM has been playing Saxophone in the Military Band in the South Korean Army and V for the band practice for his Tiny Desk concert was jamming on Saxophone with the band. Whenever they have a live band on stage they always introduce the band members and say thank you.
@@purpleskiesforever yes he does I've seen and heard him play piano on a live he was bit tipsy and at first was making little mistakes and apologising then suddenly he played the piece beautifully.
@@FlynnTheRedhead I think the quality is pretty good. Some of the camera angles could've been better, but that's only because the performance is from a livestream so it wasn't edited. But it's still an excellent performance to check out.
I love that you're reacting to BTS but the song choices are a bit random. I know it's hard when you limit yourself to only 5 songs but I feel like BTS has such diverse music style it's impossible to represent it all in so few. Hopefully, you'll decide to do more BTS in the future I can't image you not seeing Blood, Sweat and Tears, Fake Love, On, I need you girl, Dionysus, Fire, Dope, Daeang, Tear, Run, Black Swan, Magic Shop, Let go, Mic Drop and so much more.
about your question they don't have a 'character role' to play in the group but they do have unique and distinctive characters and personalities, yes all the members give off a different vibe/aura for example: -RM is the smart and mature kid, though he is not the oldest member he gives off that impression. although sometimes he can be very clumsy this is why one of his nicknames is God of destruction. -Jin is the older brother of the group, he is goofy and funny but he is very caring and patient towards the members, most of the times he cooks and feeds the members. and he does call himself WWH (which we all armys agree) -Suga is one that is quiet and calm most of the times and he gives off an old grandpa vibe always wanting to sleep and rest, however you can see him break that character and join and goof around as well with the members and not to mention that he is a genius in disguise. -J-hope is the sunshine of the group always there to make everyone happy and the members go to him to get positive energy, and he is also the comfort zone guy. -Jimin is the cute and sassy and sexy member of the group though he is not the youngest he does act cute like a baby sometimes, however rarely you can see Jimin be very mature and be wise like a grandpa. he will be the first one to come and comfort a member. -V is like the prankster of the group, he also has a very unique and fascinating way of thinking, he is very creative, him and Jimin are like soulmates, always together. and they are the ones that like to annoy the other members. -jungkook is the youngest, so he is like your typical youngest sibling who is hyper energetic and likes to do extreme sports and workouts, and he is like the baby of the group so everyone takes care of jungkook like a baby and treat him like a baby. hope this helped you guys to have idea of their personalities (this is just my perspective and how i see them)💜
BTS doesn't do the role thing. One of their major USPs is and will always be their authenticity. And they have their own style of clothing. ARMYs can probably describe each one's. Loving your reactions. Hope you have a nice time going deeper
I love this series! The talk about roles is.. interesting. Tbh BTS don’t really have roles like “cool, sweet, funny, cold” etc… their styling differs from comeback to comeback yeah, but they usually match together for the concept. Their personalities are complex, and army loves them as the complex people they are. I think there was more of a focus to fit into a persona in the earlier days, and BTS have spoken about this (I mean, they have an entire album called Map of the Soul: Persona) and they are aware that being a celeb will always create some kind of persona. But, yeah, I wouldn’t say any of them are easily categorized. 🫶🏼 You mentioned how Suga is more serious, and Hobi more energized, and while that can be true, it can also be the complete opposite. Hobi is extremely serious when it comes to his craft. Also Suga is misunderstood to be a lot more serious and cold than he is. He is an incredibly caring (and funny!) person, and for everyone who’s been army for a little while and actually watch behind the scenes stuff (and reads his lyrics) will quickly learn this about him 🫶🏼
*SUGGESTION* : It would be really cool if you guys could react to their solo work. I know the initial intention was to focus on the group songs but since we are now in a time where they all have released solo work it would be great if the guys could watch their solo songs to get an idea of their individual styles and personalities. I suggest Jungkook - standing next to you, V - slow dancing, Jin - astronaut, Jimin - who, suga - haegeun, RM - wild flower, J-hope - arson. You can watch the MV and a live performance of each song, 2 or 3 members in a video and then the next week the other members. Then you guys can continue to react to other BTS songs. That would be really cool. it's a different and original way of doing BTS reactions.
@@FlynnTheRedhead Thank you! do you can send this suggestion directly to her? I don't know if they have an ARMY editor to help them with these ideas, so I think we all should help them! 😊💜
@@VanefromUruguay Incorrect, Lead Dancer and Dance Leader aren't the same. Jhope and Jimin are both Main Dancers, while Jhope is also the Dance Leader
Hey what????🫠🫠🫠 I've been observing different reactions on this channel for a few years now, but I never imagined seeing them reacting to my favorite group 😭💜
I kind of wish they did a reaction to that guide before they started to react to their music. Yes you can enjoy their music without know much about the members but knowing a bit more about their history and where they came from adds a lot if you ask me.
I love you asked about concepts in songs because, yes, BTS is very mindful with expressing a specific message with every "era." They usually release 2-3 albums that revolve around a specific topic (at debut, they emphasized in SK school system, then they moved on the topic of youth, self love, the pandemic and their legacy) So, of course, they try to match their stage look with the overall message. But at the same time, you notice that they still have unique traits like J-hope being the smiley one, Jin shyly flirting or Jimin flowy movements
The thing about BTS, more than any group, is that they are sincere and so human. RM even once said very early on that, if he had to pick out one reason why they seem to resonate so strongly with fans, is their human touch. BTS are 3rd gen idols--early third gen, too. They came out of an era where idols weren't human. They were expected to be IDOLS. Figures to worship, not KNOW. And BTS thrived because they pushed back against that. They wrote their own songs, told their own stories, shared openly their own dreams and doubts and flaws, and put their whole hearts sincerely into the music, into each other, and into us. So they all have different personalities and, yeah, if you asked "who's the grandpa?" we'd all say Suga or "who's the sunshine?" we'd all say j-hope, or "who's the pretty one? we'd all say Jimin...but they're so multi faceted so our resident genius is our resident clumsy guy, our resident handsome guy is our biggest dork, our resident swaggy guy is our resident neat-freak/professional, our resident "cool guy/bad boy" is our baby star candy," etc. So I understood the question about tropes or characters, but that just doesn't really apply to BTS the same way. They have roles they fall into naturally after developing a group dynamic that works after 13-14 years together, but none of it is typecast. Other groups though, seeing BTS' success with their chaotic, dorky selves, started making that kind of a concept so now every group has the "cold but caring guy," the "hyung who's like a maknae," the "cheerful but intense on stage" guy, the "feminine" guy...But BTS...they're just themselves. They're whole brand is sincerity. How wholesome. :)
I cant explain how happy i was to see Run BTS here, that's my favorite song and actually that dance practice+ the live performance is what solidified my love for them
hi , V is part of dance line too , u r not the only creator to forget him when it comes to dancing , believe me he is great , in fact all of the members put a lot of effort in their craft , just wanted to mention him and give him his deserved flowers thank u for the reaction tho
Honestly, she too still baby army and many of her info are the surface level,,, I wish all of them learn together instead of relaying on her info only cause it’s still lacking
As @MrKaibaoh says, her info is lacking, and she says as much since she's still unfamiliar with the grp, so I wouldn't hold it really against her to not know everything. I also agree that it would've been pretty neat to see them all try to look up the answers to their questions together rather than just put it all on her to answer.
They definitely have their own individuality, the concepts stick to vmv and live performances and stuff or promotions. Other than that there's so much more content so you can definitely notice their individual styles.
what the guys seemed to be asking is, "is there an archetype that the boys consistently fall under individually, like the 90s' boybands in western culture did?" and the short answer is no. it can be hard to answer questions like that bc it requires explaining the whole industry and cultural differences that's hard to summate easily. especially with how groups have evolved over different kpop generations. but i would say that kpop companies don't usually like to pick vastly different people to fulfill an archetype, they want them to get along. lol.
You should react to their solo works as well like Rap line solo works Wild flower, Agust D Trilogy (Daechwita, Haegeum, Amygdala), Arson, and vocal line's solo works such as Astronaut, Set Me Free Pt 2, Love Me Again, and Standing Next To You.
Kpop groups in general tend to do the whole "this ones the heartthrob" "this ones the bad boy" and bts did at one point too, but they dont push it anymore. Its just them being them and its up to the audience to find something within them, but they definitely dont push the surface level narratives anymore
Interesting selection of songs to choose to introduce someone to bts. two ballads, and two very traditional pop songs in boy with luv and dynamite coming up isn't what i would have personally selected. lol bts has such a large variety to offer, but maybe that's more in line with the guys' personal taste? idk what they normally listen to, it'd be easier to make recommendations off of that. except black swan, everyone should listen to black swan. lol.
Bts are just fantastic at what they do and I’m glad you guys are enjoying watching them and I hope you continue with their diverse discography because there’s so much. Fighting!💜
Omg, how I miss this game! It broke my heart when BigHit/Hybe stopped supporting it with updates. We got that news, and then they let us know that in 3 months they would be decommissioning it. I wasn’t into mobile games, but this one really got me. Lots of live action, extremely interactive, and you’d get random phone calls and text msgs from them, and participate in chaotic group chats. There was even a mystical Magic Shop-like place that was woven through every member’s story. It was quite an emotional game sometimes…I know it sounds weird to say that, but it really did tug on your heartstrings. I played it every night before bed. How I wish that they’d bring the game back, but once it traveled through the years to almost present day, I think it may have gotten too complicated for the game designers who did all the updates to continue the members’ lives in the stories. I do wish you’d had a chance to see it.
I really think they need to react to a more diverse range of songs than these. BTS started out more rap and hip hop focused, less pop. Start with Mic Drop and the MAMA stage performance.
this was fun! i like the reaction and the editing is so good, very unique makes the whole watching experience smooth despite all the copyright restrictions
I'm not sure abt when they're in other countries, but I know BTS always uses The Lab (a California-based dance studio crew) when they perform in the US. And they don't have any company assigned roles (except RM is acknowledged as leader) that the company pushes (like with styling, I mean). But their individual talents can determine what we may expect from them in terms who sings or who raps tho. The performance styling is generally based on both the concept themes and what looks good for them, individually and what works in a grp setting.
OMG you are so smart to catch the message by your own! It is a song for ARMY who spent time in Pandemic, its also right that they miss to go on stage because of pandemic isolation
Aaron, I loved that you understood the message and context of the song just by paying attention to the details and the lyrics. I loved the reaction, it would be nice if they always looked for the context and message of the song. I also hope you can react to the Guide of the 7 members, it would help you get to know the boys a little better and resolve doubts about their personality. In any case, in general, roles are not used for album concepts, they are simply them, they have more marked traits in their personality, they show themselves as they are, they are authentic
I really hope you guys continue the journey with BTS! 😭 ARMYs would love it and I think you guys would have a lot of fun and there's definitely tons of content to react to. I hope you guys consider it!
You had an interesting discussion at the end about the assigned roles/personas that boy bands used to have and you wondered if they had the same. The guys tend to use a bit of a persona on-stage for the sake of turning up their stage presence and charisma a bit more (like TH-camrs turn up their personas a bit extra for entertainment). However, there's no real need for them to have a designated persona for fans to connect to them. BTS has been uploading unedited vlogs since before their debut days, they post videos of themselves after performances, the do vids of their behind the scenes during MVs, they have multiple reality tv series where they leave cameras around the location and they're filmed most of the time, they go on livestreams to hang out with ARMY whenever they feel like it, they host a variety show, they have several documentaries and movies, etc. There are so much pieces of content documenting their lives all the time for over a decade so the fans know them pretty well. We've seen their organic growths as people, been there for the death of family/friends/pets, when they were struggling with personal things. They've often come to us and chatted about it, opening up about things they're worried about or working through. There's just so much content they've shared that something like a persona is kind of useless for them because we know way more than that. And sometimes they let us know years later if there was something they hadn't talked about and was dealing with and they're ready to open up now. We try not to pry but they've been really open about their lives. I've never seen a fandom/artist relationship quite like this before. Usually when things get parasocial it's with the fans toward the artist. Yet this is the first case I've seen where the artist seems mutual and they actively seek out that bond with the fandom. And not for the sake of PR but to treat the fans as an extension of their group. I suspect it's because they were all kids when they started creating this bond with ARMY so we're a solid part of their growth as people and they've always had us as a part of their group dynamic. It broke their hearts to tell us that they were going on hiatus. And even now we joke that they acted like they were about to never make music until they returned but instead they gave us like 7-8x more stuff than usual. We'd have been content with half of what they prepared but they have a "we must spoil ARMY so they remember how much we love them" mindset. Even if it means going on a live for 4 hours to hang out with us, having us there while they do chores or do crafts or have a meal. In the early days when they were starving ARMY would bring them food and one bought them a rice cooker (that they used for many years). When people made fun of their clothes because they couldn't afford it, ARMY would buy them clothes to wear. When they were attacked, we'd stand with them. It's unusual and impossible to really explain to new people because with any other artist it would seem delusional or insane to say it. But BTS truly are big fans of ARMY in return and they adore their fans in a way that people in the industry have been studying to try to replicate it. Im usually pretty jaded about celebs so it surprised even me to see how genuine these guys are. Like when they say they love ARMY, they mean it.
BE (the album life goes on is on) is quite a poignant pandemic album. In the very beginning there's a kind kpop role they were kind of being wanted to slot them into, (like the ice Prince, the 'mom') etc but a few years in, they are just being themselves because they do so much behind the scenes stuff that we see their actual personality shine through anyway
Love your newness to the boys. Also, love your method of giving the performance more of the screen and stairstepping you images. You have 11 years of history to learn and it is a wonderful ride.
Life goes on is a beautiful song, it helped many people during the pandemic. I’m glad it hit number 1, definitely deserved. And the Run BTS does have a liver performance, it’s Crazy good. Amazing reaction guys!
Thank You for reacting to BTS loved it!! Even though I watched these countless of times still missed many things. But when you guys were explaining from your point of view I noticed those things. TYSM!! ❤
Life Goes On is a special song to me, it was really a comfort to many during the pandemic. Yoongi also included his own version of the song in his last album (D-Day by Agust D). Also, while BTS definitely incorporated typical concepts of Kpop in their beginning, I think it's also important to remember that they tend to be very different from their peers in their trajectory and practices. That's why you'll notice that they do things differently than other Kpop groups you may know about or that they don't play into the same stereotypes.
i think maybe back when their company was much smaller and they weren’t as well known the members dialed their personalities 2x cus they had to if they wanted to gain attention or fans. jhope has said multiple times that when he debuted his personality wasn’t the sunny/joyful one we know now. he acclimated to the role of hope when he chose his stage name and i remember briefly the boys recounting times their company had them act or look a certain way for a concept 🤔 for example i believe jin was given the quiet calm older brother concept and was encouraged to act that way when they first debuted in an interview/behind the scenes with jungkook from before he was 18 tells fans how the agency discouraged him from going to the gym lest he lose his cuteness also V’s whole alien/4D “personality”
Blind Wave reacting to BTS still amazes me hahahaha never did I imagine you guys will know these boys so thank you Jancy for introducing them 😊 more reactions to come ❤
I hope you come back to BTS again sometime, I feel like you only just scratched the surface with these reactions, doing a mix of their most shallow pop songs and a few slow songs. Of course it's hard to capture such a diverse sound in just a few videos, but there's SO much depth you'll never hear if you don't get into the albums! People are recommending songs like Mic Drop (which is fun) but even that kind of 'club banger' song doesn't have the lyricism or rap/vocal skill that drew most fans in... ah, it's just frustrating how the BTS iceberg goes like 9 layers down below the surface but most reactors only ever look at level 1 or 2. I just hope people get curious enough to listen on their own time. I also hope you learn more about their story, and see that they're not just a 'boyband' with roles etc. Their story is complex, and they're deeply invested in making their own music. Kpop was the only medium they had to reach the world stage which is why they took that route, but they go far beyond the typical kpop formula.
I remember going back to Church eg into the building rather than online service. We had to spaced out according to the rules, and wear masks and have had taken a covid test prior to going. Everyone name had to taken down in case anyone in the week had covid so everyone could be contacted. As a member of the worship band we could play and sing but but were extra spaced out with our mic's and band equiptment and still of course sending a live feed to TH-cam and Facebook for those who couldn't be in the service but could continue to be part of the service live on line. Anyway that's what I remember here in the UK so I guess they'd have the same kind of regulations about people meeting in South Korea as well. Notice how far back the band was as well. Life was really different back then but we adapted.
I think something I’m noticing here is the constant pigeon-holing of BTS into the “K-pop” box. BTS has never fit into that box, not from the day they debuted to now. The only thing they have in common with it, especially in the last few years, is their nationality and that they dance and sing. Otherwise, BTS has broken the mold over and over again. It’s probably why the woman here isn’t as much of a fan, honestly - because BTS isn’t K-pop like other groups (BP, Babymonster, etc.). Lots of K-pop fans don’t like BTS as well because they don’t match what they like about K-pop. I (and many, many other ARMY) love BTS but just can’t do more than appreciate a specific song or two here and there from anyone else, because the formula of K-pop doesn’t actually appeal to me (us). For this series, the reactors should have been advised from the start not to try to understand K-pop by watching BTS, or to understand BTS by applying what they “know” about K-pop. They’d “get it” more that way.
I disagree with some of what you said, because in a way, what you write is pigeonholing kpop, because of the meaning you're choosing to give to kpop too
@@MarinaEariel That's fine. I don't know anything about K-pop except that most K-pop fans - and most US award shows - seem to try to box BTS into it, when they're clearly different than any other K-pop artist.
@@OT7_DopeOldARMY most award shows and streaming platforms just see "kpop" as Korean pop, so as BTS are Korean and sometimes make pop, it checks for them. And they just create those categories so they don't need to be inclusive with foreign artists. About kpop fans, most fans use the word "kpop" for "idol music". And BTS started as idols and still promote as idols, both as a group and some of them (not all) as solo artists. So it also "checks" in that regard. As idols, they're outliers on their industry, but they also share a lot. I think BTS are clearly different than any other artist, period
Great Reactions once again! In their stage performance you can also use the color of their mics to tell who's who because they have their preferences of what color their mic is. RUN BTS is my favorite dance practice ever (they do have a stage performance for this. They performed it for their concert in Busan). As a new ARMY just a little insight you opened a never ending rabbit hole and it just gets deeper. There's alot of content with these guys and not just from a group level but individually as well. Good Luck on your BTS journey you'll enjoy it.
Run BTS does have a live performance, it's on BTS' channel Bangtantv. They performed it only once at their last concert before they enlisted in the military.
I really feel we are doing a bit of a disservice to BTS’s variety of music by sticking to the recent single releases. I think if you don’t show a song like Baepsae, Dope, Am I Wrong, Ugh, Go go etc that has a socio political message you are missing what made BTS different from the rest kpop and made them what they are today. Arguably spring day has this type of messaging but it was missed without the context of the Sewol Ferry disaster references in the music video. The fact that dynamite is next really shows me that you don’t get this about BTS. Dynamite while fun and popular is arguably the least BTS song of any of their releases.
Im loving these! I do hope that you guys check out their 'b-sides' once their singles with music videos are done. They really shine so much more on their other tracks. Its easy to just go for the most popular mv's, but you'll be missing out on amazing music, lyrics and performances from them if you dont look at the b-sides. Also I think you guys would LOVE watching their variety show 'Run BTS', even if its just in your own time. It's genuinely the most entertaining show out there :]
I wish you had an army to help you answer all your questions in the video and guide you better to who bts are . But i guess all the armys in the comments are already helping you ! 🎉
They also have their own style that's their practice clothing, all their choreo are in their normal clothes. No they don't really have those images as concert like other groups.

They don’t have “character roles”, they have personalities. That’s an aspect that attracted so many fans for sure

It's also on a lot of Amazon Prime TH-cam channels with the concert audio, versus the Bangtantv version which is more fancam style.
STRAY KIDS IS THE KING OF KPOP---
Yes please! Do a reaction to their live performance of RUN BTS and also MIC DROP in Busan!
I'm enjoying the reactions too; I just get antsy when I know songs they would like more are at our fingertips.(more their own style)
I think Aaron would adore Tae's Singularity, and he'd be running home to play it for Melanie... hahaha (even tho the lyrics)
For Eric, anything that has an ethnic world music flavor (I think) and both would appreciate some stomping and headbanging songs.
Blindwave is just broadening their horizons, and spending time with their SOs. I think it's interesting when the guys are exposed to new genres. So I'm chill about the depth of things being presented to them. I'm more concerned with the sample of music chosen not being representative of their diverse styles and genre fusion. Sorry that was so long. I just wanted to clarify 💜💟💜
Columbia Cousins and Wives seems to be doing a fairly in depth jump down the rabbit hole and Landon Mark REALLY went down the hole.
I still can't get over Jimin in the Airplane Pt. 2 dance practice, my jaw literally dropped when he walked into frame the first time I watched it.
Just to round out the list:
There is also the timeless classiness mixed with embracing bold statement pieces of Celine and Cartier with V/Taehyung,
the classic, masculine smooth coolness of Gucci and FRED Jewelers with Jin,
and the clean, sharp, very grown up feel of Valentino with Suga/Yoongi .
He was looking at the stadium where they would have had a concert if COVID had not cancelled their World Tour
I think it's not only the company realized it wasn't needed, it's also that the members always kind of made fun of it (I felt that while watching their earlier logs here on TH-cam and reading the translated blog posts), so it just did not make sense to keep enforcing it
Eric: "Which one's the cute one?"
Editor: *puts caption over all seven* "This one."
That had me dead. 🤣🤣 You're not wrong though
Hahaha thanks, THEY ARE
In dance practices they usually wear their own clothes if I'm not mistaken.. you can always clearly see their personal style..

110% autotune used... why lie?
Bts are always themselves , they don't try to be someone they are not
In some western bands they kinda promote that specific member as the bad boy or the mysterious one for example ,but Bts are just group of regular guys who have different personalities 💜
the vibe switch up from Life Goes On to RUN BTS! was crazy lmfao 😭😭
Whenever they have a live band on stage they always introduce the band members and say thank you.

about your question they don't have a 'character role' to play in the group but they do have unique and distinctive characters and personalities, yes all the members give off a different vibe/aura for example:
-RM is the smart and mature kid, though he is not the oldest member he gives off that impression. although sometimes he can be very clumsy this is why one of his nicknames is God of destruction.
-Jin is the older brother of the group, he is goofy and funny but he is very caring and patient towards the members, most of the times he cooks and feeds the members. and he does call himself WWH (which we all armys agree)
-Suga is one that is quiet and calm most of the times and he gives off an old grandpa vibe always wanting to sleep and rest, however you can see him break that character and join and goof around as well with the members and not to mention that he is a genius in disguise.
10:06 I'm dying with the editor's comments 😂
You did an amazing job!! 💜
Thank you!! ❤
I love so much that you guys are doing this. Army is the greatest 💜
You mentioned how Suga is more serious, and Hobi more energized, and while that can be true, it can also be the complete opposite.
You pretty much wrote the pitch I was gonna send to Janci in a bit haha, definitely something to look into

I REALLY hope they check out to taylor guide to BTS soon!!
it's almost essential to start from the beginning with bts, their music over the last decade has been wild lol
I cant explain how happy i was to see Run BTS here, that's my favorite song and actually that dance practice+ the live performance is what solidified my love for them

thank u for the reaction tho
My God, you guys reacted the best haha BTS has the most badass LINE vocals in kpop in my opinion
what the guys seemed to be asking is, "is there an archetype that the boys consistently fall under individually, like the 90s' boybands in western culture did?" and the short answer is no. it can be hard to answer questions like that bc it requires explaining the whole industry and cultural differences that's hard to summate easily. especially with how groups have evolved over different kpop generations. but i would say that kpop companies don't usually like to pick vastly different people to fulfill an archetype, they want them to get along.
Interesting selection of songs to choose to introduce someone to bts. two ballads, and two very traditional pop songs in boy with luv and dynamite coming up isn't what i would have personally selected. lol bts has such a large variety to offer, but maybe that's more in line with the guys' personal taste? idk what they normally listen to, it'd be easier to make recommendations off of that. except black swan, everyone should listen to black swan. lol.
i would loveeee for you to reaction to a guide
cause their roles are mostly their personalities because of how much content they have.

The fact that we aren’t getting mic drop, black swan, or blood sweat and tears in favor of dynamite is a crime.

Life goes on opened the doors of the magic shop for me 🥺💜
I really hope you guys continue the journey with BTS!
Born singer, yet to come with my youth 💭 the live is lovely
2:58 what an epic cuddle that was
me: YOU HAVE SEEN NOTHING YET
The cuddles they give each other are so warm and to die for
The "imagine" subs were the best hehe...thanks for sharing BTS with your followers 💜
I never thought I’d see the fng day 😮🫡
Omg hi! I love your videos!! (I’m the editor of this video this is so cool haha)
I hope you'll also react to their performance at MMA 2019. Since you're only doing a limited reaction, at least you'll cover many songs at once.💜
i think maybe back when their company was much smaller and they weren’t as well known the members dialed their personalities 2x cus they had to if they wanted to gain attention or fans. jhope has said multiple times that when he debuted his personality wasn’t the sunny/joyful one we know now. he acclimated to the role of hope when he chose his stage name
and i remember briefly the boys recounting times their company had them act or look a certain way for a concept 🤔 for example i believe jin was given the quiet calm older brother concept and was encouraged to act that way when they first debuted
in an interview/behind the scenes with jungkook from before he was 18 tells fans how the agency discouraged him from going to the gym lest he lose his cuteness
also V’s whole alien/4D “personality”
Another great reaction! I think you all would like BTS ON performance video. Looking forward to more kpop reactions :)
BTS"MAGIC SHOP"(LIVE),REACTION
Please, please, please
There's a live performance of Run BTS for their Busan Concert!
The bts journey is my new favorite thing 💜
Loved the Twice pop up when Eric said twice in the intro xD I hope you guys react to Twice next!
Soon!
@@FlynnTheRedhead hell yeah!
Now there are no distinct character roles they follow. They are simply themselves.
@@MarinaEariel You literally just said what I was saying. BTS is different.
This dance practice I believe was for their performance at a busan music festival.
Can’t believe my worlds are still colliding 🤧👏
You should have them react to the video Introducing the 7 Members of BTS. I know I loved that video when I first saw it
I'm enjoying these videos so much ❤
3:30 That's the Jamsil Olympic stadium. BTS were supposed to perform there and those concerts were cancelled because of covid.
I can't wait until you watch the epic legendary live performances... like the one with Dionysus (can't remember the name but ARMY knows 😂)
MMA (Melon Music Awards) 2019. A 37 minute performance at an award show is legendary.
@@crystalsnow1138 Thanks! 💜
@@crystalsnow1138 It's one for the history books!
I like the little comments in the video! So funny 🤣
It’s like the editors in SK
Great Reactions once again! In their stage performance you can also use the color of their mics to tell who's who because they have their preferences of what color their mic is. RUN BTS is my favorite dance practice ever (they do have a stage performance for this. They performed it for their concert in Busan).
As a new ARMY just a little insight you opened a never ending rabbit hole and it just gets deeper. There's alot of content with these guys and not just from a group level but individually as well. Good Luck on your BTS journey you'll enjoy it.
They do have a like performance of the last one
YES, THANK YOU
Im loving these!
14:10 aaaaaaaaa so good!!!!!!!!!!!! and yes Suga hair!!!!!!! is so perfect oh my god!!!!!!!!!!!!
It would be great for your guys to watch their Tiny Desk Performance to get more live perfomances, including with a band!
They also have their own style that's their practice clothing, all their choreo are in their normal clothes. No they don't really have those images as concert like other groups.
