I've been inspired! Was in Vienna today, and after watching your video last night, I thought a Thaler from the local coin shop was an appropriate choice of souvenir! Beautiful coin, and its weird how a fairly modern coin feels like such a part of history! Love the sheild design especially . Maria is a big deal in Vienna, with gardens, streets, and huge statues dedicated to her that I passed after buying the coin. Thanks for the Vid and the inspiration!
This is lovely to hear that I inspired you to pick one up! Thanks for letting me know!
The Bhutan coin is certainly the least seen on youtube. Back in my early collecting days, the 1780 restrike thaler was quite common and I picked up several at under $4 each. Some are proof and all are in perfect mint state. I would love to know more about the mints that made them and when they were minted.
I’m new to those variety of coins. I have never seen that before. First thought when I see that is that- wow- that is a huge coin. Amazing that it is dated 1780 in MS!
Very nice Thaler! I'll vote for the Buthan coin. Thanks for the show my friend.
I love that coin so much, I now have two. Thanks to the silver forum! I vote for the elephant please.
Picked up one of these today at a market, got it without knowing much about it but thought it was cool, thanks alot for this video!
When you throw it onto a table the typical silver-"pling-ringing" is a nice indicator, while non-silver coins have a kind of "smack"-sound. Easy fast test for silver, but works best with larger coins.
Funny to come across this, I have a roll of silver restrikes. They are a really nice design!
Really beautiful coin, I just picked some up bacause I like the history of them. Another interesting fakt about the coin is that it was a conversion Thaler for the German currencies at that time. The X behind the year stand for 1/10 of the Köllner Mark. 1 Mark were 14 Prussian Thaler or 24.5 Bavarian Gulden.
2 of these coins (Maria Theresa Thaler restrike) were given to me in a garage sale 😀 (i just asked the price and the person didn't know nothing about coins) and i also thought they were fake🤣 but they are silver made !
I have a thales myself they are 82% silver
Definitely enjoyed the History! Picking up a re-strike Ducat today! :)))
What is up from Minnesota? Thanks for the neodenium magnet test, I can use that one, I vote for the second coin, I'm not familiar with it, Peace
restrike or not it's still a very beautiful coin : ) great for anyone's collection. i very much appreciate the history on it, a piece i would have picked up no doubt. and what an awesome deal on it. i would like to see the yeae of the dog next week
The Maria Theresa Thaler has been minted in several cities. Very historical coin. I Definitely Vote for The Kingdom of Bhutan coin.
Good low premium silver 👍
Great news discovering it is real. She is what I would call a handsome woman. She looks like she would be respected for sure.Great bit of history there today. Thanks a bunch fella.I would like to hear more about the piece from Butan my friend.
It was a learning experience when I found out - fun for all! Thanks for dropping by and Thanks for the vote!
Just to clear up. These coins weigh 28grams and they're 83% silver so the silver content is 23,25grams? thanks!
A very nice coin indeed and got it for a steal and I vote for the Bhutan please 👍
ok haven't heard about whats going on with the Emu coin so it gets my vote
I vote Emu! Especially if you want to talk about the time the Australian military fought and lost a war with them!
Oh Very nice ...I also have that One 😇
Hi I would like to send you a photo of a strike that I think might be one of the earlier strikes.
The H is definately silent in Thaler.... I got one too. Not 100% silver though
I’m pretty sure these were also Re- Struck in silver. I have one. Also have fake Morgan’s made of silver
Some times people use lower grades of silver to fake a coin - giving it more of a look of a genuine one, but still fake.
Backyard Bullion Yes, just because it contains silver it doesn’t mean it’s genuine.
Pretty cool when you get something for free.. or almost free. I vote Bhutan not for the dog but for the dragons he he...As then I might get one
lol so epic!!! Find the seller and buy all their fake lots with this coin!! LOL! I just got 2 in Saudi Arabia and was researching it and found your video! lol :D
Its a two headed eagle ?
Very nice
@Backyard Bullion: It's Maria Theresa and not Therisa
The older restrikes were used like trade dollars! I vote the emu because Australia lost a war to them ;)
They were basically the trade dollars of the middle east. Thanks for the vote!
Sir bhi is coins ki kitni value h I am from India (Rajasthan )
Inscriptions???
More countries should do restrikes. Many of todays modern coin designs leave alot to be desired
I also have a bang but the 1760 one
Cheap?
Uhm ... if you buy them they cost around €20.- which is many things but not cheap. You lose half of those 20 bux the second you bought the coin as its buy back price is €9
Yes, if you can get them for the right price they are good. They hold good value in the after market if you are not after a quick sale.
@@BackyardBullion O yeah, if you have private sources to buy then definatly they are a good buy.
Im just a sucker for the Austrian/Hungarian and US designs is why i buy them. Else i never would buy that far from spot.
Probably made in the 50s. Fun fact, all thalers after 1780 are still dated 1780, the year the Queen died. But ya, still silver
du you calect this coin
I HAVE ONE ,BUT MINE IS FROM 1760...
Brilliant! Always love when someone makes a good profit without the seller being disappointed or none the wiser.
Great history as always!
I’ll vote the Emu, please. 😁

I just learned about you by researching my current favorite coin. Your commentary is sweet as heck and you earned a subscription from this vid at the very least.
Awesome stuff, thanks for commenting and subscribing!
