Honorable mention is the Japan exclusive vinyl for Discovery, with cover art from Interstella 5555. It used to go around $400-500, but after Daft Punk’s retirement it lists for $2200 on Discogs
crazy how in the days leading up to the annoucement i had my eyes on two jp discovery albums that went for exactly $400-$500 as you said. after that they vanished into thin air and i missed my chance to have some unique art.
True the CD version goes for around $90 bucks? I prefer CDs more but excited for Discovery 25th anniversary i really want them to bundle the dvd and cd together
The price is inconsistent to say the least. I've heard plenty of people say they got it at retail price from their local record store (even after the breakup), while others say it's out of stock everywhere.
Got my RAM vinyl (sealed and brand new) a few days ago from a local store for 23€ (=$28) and it was the last copy available. Big luck for me, all copies online are selling for like 40€ minimum
I bought a turntable almost a month ago and started collecting vinyls. I honestly didn’t know that vinyls can get hella expensive, especially Daft Punk’s RAM and Discovery. Eventually I’ll probably fold in and cough up the $400 to get the vinyl. So far I have the US version of the album and I just bought the Japanese version of the album yesterday

I still regret not buying it. I was planning on it, but I never did. Bought a 30 dollar shirt instead. Guess what was the better long term investment...
I just picked up an original pressing of Random Access Memories for just $35 sealed at Amoeba. I feel sorry for the collectors who don't have access to giant stores that still have plenty of sealed Daft Punk stock. My actual rarest record is the 2013 bundle of Popul Vuh's Hosianna Mantra (only 500 copies in existence worldwide) bundled with the Ave Maria 7" (first repress since 1972, also only 500 in existence + a few originals). It only costed $60 because Popol Vuh isn't that mainstream.
i’m so pissed dude. i wanted to get the vinyl after christmas but it was sold out on amazon for a while. then they broke up and now the prices are crazy
Do part 2, you missed on a lot of records that are also expensive like you said, so I think a second part would do the justice well. A good recommendation to include on the sequel video would be Endless by Frank Ocean that costs around 300$-800$ if mint on Discogs
I managed to find a Random Access Memories vinyl for around 50 dollars online. I wanted Discovery, but the cheapest one was like 3 times that. Should be here in a week. I'm really excited.
I've been collecting vinyl as well for maybe two months at this point. as of right now i've only been collecting them since i dont have a turntable yet (been pushing that back for almost a month now) nor do i have a decent audio setup. I really started collecting them since I wanted to own a physical copy the music that I frequent, plus the art. Obviously theres Daft Punk, so far out of all of thier albums I own, Daft Alive '97 (came with a sticker sheet so yay i guess), Homework (my first vinyl and holds a special place since it arrived on the 21st of Feb), Discovery (almost lost it and the $200 due to it having a typo on the shipping label which sent it down the street), and RAM. Already ordered Human After All and have Alive '07 and Daft Club back ordered. Tron really doesn't affect me as much but I'll get it some day. Some of my other vinyls include Cowboy Bebop soundtrack (the vinyl patterns are something else), G'n'R (Gold Splatter pattern is kinda meh but i like the music), Imagine by John Lennon, that first Justice album, Best of Hall and Oates. Yeah thats it really. I've recently been eyeing some of the Weeknds albums such as Stardust and Afterhours. edit: i bought my RAM vinyl for like $90 because some shop in New York had extra(currently my most expensive vinyl is Discovery at $200). Also before you said $50k i tought you were about to say $20k (which is still a ludicrous pricepoint) because of a listing on ebay, actually i think thats the ebay limit tbh. Also yeah like others have said before me, you missed the Japan exclusive run of Discovery. Still salty about missing out on the box set of RAM tho considering they only just sold out last year in august or so. Didn't buy it at the time since I thought they were already sold out since it was limited to 2400 copies since 2014. edit edit: as a daft punk fan post announcement. yes. luckily enough i've found decent prices here and there and can still access their official storefront to avoid scalper prices on whatever is left of their merch.
Same as me man. I don’t have a turntable but I started collecting not long ago. I only collect sealed vinyls. I will never open them. For me it’s just having the physical copy and display.
I’m a huge fan of those records produced in limited runs or being cancelled. It’s pretty cool to see the records market increasing thanks to the new generation, so bands focuses on it
I bought infinite for 75 bucks in 2001 off ebay, verified legit, i have some expensive albums but this one tops em all. Most my $200+ records are jungle records though lol, and a fair amount of hand me down punk 7" records. Its really fucking insane the value some records gain.
I’m pretty much incapable of buying any classic vinyls because of where I live and family things. It’ll take a long while for me to actually do these things.
My dads been collecting records ever since his father passed and gave him his collection , passed the Hobby onto me and I can say it’s a very weird market
As soon as Daft Punk quit, TONS of their records were dumped on eBay to ride the wave of demand. I had a few of their albums still sealed and I dumped all of them on eBay too; I had 0 doubt they'd all get re-pressed later. The frenzy was wild. I sold the ALIVE box set for $400. I sold Human After All for $400. I sold Tron Legacy for $200. Never in a million years did I expect RAM would ever be worth anything; SO many were pressed. The highest I saw a copy sell for during that frenzy was ~$750. I sold mine for $600. And sure enough, in the next few years, they were all re-pressed again and I picked up new copies for sticker price.
I'm really sad I didn't buy a Daft Punk vinyl before they retired and everyone jacked up the prices for basically no reason. I've loved them since I was a toddler
Started collecting vinyl, exclusively vaporvinyl, but they can rack up the bank. There's about 900 vaporvinyl out there and each one can be from $20-$800 depending on how rare the vinyl is.

most money I spent on a record was roughly $400 on a complete mint copy of Flatbush Zombies' 3001: A Laced Odyssey which is still holding value and when the time comes will most likely skyrocket in price
The Ramones released a demos compilation exclusively in Japan called "Britzkrieg '75" which goes for $570-$700 on discogs except that its not a Ramones album but actually the album "Showa" by The Gerogerigegege disguised as a fake Ramones album. the album consists of the Japanese national anthem, audio of two people getting down and dirty for 40 minutes, and then the Japanese national anthem played again
My most expensive vinyl purchase was Moe Moe by Moeshop for $140. The second printing with the clear disc and white cover. Sadly I don't think I'll ever get my hands on the first print it's selling for $300 minimum, and last ebay listing I saw had it at $600. The first print has the normal color album art and a white disc. Both prints were limited to 500 copies each I believe. Honestly though, I kinda think the second print is cooler anyway. It's the only release to feature white artwork, and the clear vinyl is pretty sweet.
I actually got a first pressing with the full color cover for 300$ last may. Probably the most expensive record i own, though i have a few others that are around 100$
Well It wasn't a record but the most expensive music related item I got was Nine Inch Nails Down In It UK CD which was $100 which I know I overpaid but I was overzealous, it usually goes for $70-80. But the most expensive record was Depeche Mode Fragile Tension/Hole To Feed 12" double single which was sealed and I paid $85 and it's usually $60-80 but sealed can go over $100. The most expensive record on my "absolutely need" list is Psychopathia Sexualis By Whitehouse which ranges from $400-800. Whitehouse records/CD's are usually pretty expensive in their own right but Psychopathia Sexualis & Right To Kill were only pressed once in 83 & 84 respectively and another in 2019 for a box set that features other albums on Whitehouse's old record label "Come Organisation" and the box ranges from $500-1000.
Hit vibes by Saint Pepsi on red vinyl. Vaporwave/future funk classic. 500 copies pressed on black and 500 on red from Carpark Records. The black record can be found from 70 to 120 dollars. The red record can be found from 300 to 900 dollars and has been sold for 1,1000 dollars.
Bathory’s debut album should’ve gotten a mention, since the ”misprint” with a yellow goat instead of the regular white one goes for about $1 500 with okay quality, then the price only goes up from there.
I traded the first Santana album (1969) that I got for $3 to a coworker for the self titled Queens of the Stone Age album. Turns out, I got a $100+ album. It’s also my favorite album.
i got a limited version of the new metallica album (72 seasons) at the day of its release which means it's the first pressing. i wonder how much it's worth in the future...
Yeah, i just bought 2000 euro worth on limited edtions of The Doors and then u post this video 🤣😅. Got to admit i dont regret it.. even if its pure for collection. Btw i love your video's!
ooo, that's really interesting. yeah it's weird cause future funk is like, a genre in a genre and not as big so it's always super limited when pressed, if ever. and I know it can be hard to clear samples and such if they do it legit. mind me asking who you have in your funk collection?
I just bought a Daft Punk Homework cassette for 85 and even that "reasonable" of a price kinda makes me hate myself lol. S/O to anyone who knows the significance of that album in that format in context to daft history :D
Still looking for a decent turntable to play it on but I have the vinyl record of the Tron Legacy soundtrack with most of the other Daft Punk records currently in order. Seeing the RAM box set going for so much just hurts so much I want it so badlyyyyyy.

Bro can we talk about the JSRF music in the background of him talking?
I traded the first Santana album (1969) that I got for $3 to a coworker for the self titled Queens of the Stone Age album. Turns out, I got a $100+ album. It’s also my favorite album.
Is the music 8:19 from MapleStory Aquaroad? Nostalgic.
The jet set radio music made me smile
The video starts 1:46
So.... You are telling me that the RAM vinyl I bought 3 years ago at 25€, is now worth 300+€ ??? And I tought it was expensive when I bought it
Yessir! Now instead of one overpriced sandwich you can buy at least 2.
@@onlysmallbites I started collecting vinyl at the right time lol. Still trying to find the 2007 Alive vinyl, and it's expensive as hell...
@@33redstone try to preorder it, still 30€ in Germany and you only get the 2lp version, but better than 400€
i got a limited version of the new metallica album (72 seasons) at the day of its release which means it's the first pressing. i wonder how much it's worth in the future...
is that a song from jet grind radio (or jet set radio) at 4:19? i notice it from anywhere!
Yeah, i just bought 2000 euro worth on limited edtions of The Doors and then u post this video 🤣😅.
Got to admit i dont regret it.. even if its pure for collection. Btw i love your video's!
I collect mostly future funk vinyl, which are all limited releases and look cool as hell, but none believes me when I say I do it for the music :(
ooo, that's really interesting. yeah it's weird cause future funk is like, a genre in a genre and not as big so it's always super limited when pressed, if ever. and I know it can be hard to clear samples and such if they do it legit. mind me asking who you have in your funk collection?
I just bought a Daft Punk Homework cassette for 85 and even that "reasonable" of a price kinda makes me hate myself lol. S/O to anyone who knows the significance of that album in that format in context to daft history :D
I like that you use Jet Set Radio OST in your vids. Really nice touch.
I saw NAS Illmatic at Ameba for $200 and thought that was a lot but I think it was a first edition so maybe not that bad
Still looking for a decent turntable to play it on but I have the vinyl record of the Tron Legacy soundtrack with most of the other Daft Punk records currently in order.
Seeing the RAM box set going for so much just hurts so much I want it so badlyyyyyy.
I have the tame set. Never gunna sell it tho. I just got the 10 year anniversary set he released... its fire.
I also have the Beatles album with them holding mutalated baby dolls lol lol
