Fitwise they models are the same as the 3's you'll have less difficulty fitting into your jerseys if you go with the smaller one but could feel some really hard shoulder shots.

Jerseys aside, my concern is also mobility and sort of "cheater feeling" you mentioned with X3PRO+. Feel like getting PRO now. Regrettably, the black/red version of X3 is rare in Europe, so will go for X4...
