  • Its around lunchtime and I walked around Östermalm.
    Östermalm (Swedish pronunciation: [œstɛrˈmalm]; "Eastern city-borough") is a 2.56 km² large district in central Stockholm, Sweden. With 71,802 inhabitants, it is one of the most populous districts in Stockholm. It is an extremely expensive area, having the highest housing prices in Sweden.

    Stockholm is the capital of Sweden. It has the most populous urban area in Sweden as well as in Scandinavia. 1 million people live in the municipality, approximately 1.6 million in the urban area, and 2.4 million in the metropolitan area. The city stretches across fourteen islands where Lake Mälaren flows into the Baltic Sea. Outside the city to the east, and along the coast, is the island chain of the Stockholm archipelago. The area has been settled since the Stone Age, in the 6th millennium BC, and was founded as a city in 1252 by Swedish statesman Birger Jarl. It is also the county seat of Stockholm County.

    I thought you'd take us into Saluhall which, as far as I recall, is a beautiful food market. I've seen it before, maybe one of your earlier videos? Yes, I just checked, your video #52 that I viewed 4 months ago. How time flies!

      It's been a food market since it was built in 1888. The architects had traveled Europe and liked the brick and iron they saw 🙂.

    I would have stopped filming when that tall slender blonde in the navy blue Armani outfit walked past and asked her if she'd like to have a refreshing glass of champagne with me. My favourite bar is at Bern's Salongen @ Berns hotel.

    Sweden is great if you like very clean, well organized cities and very smart, well informed people that are multi lingual and so on. But realize that Sweden is a nation of introverts, of very reserved, very private people...not the warm touchy-feely Italian type at all...

    One depressing thing I noticed is a complete lack of greenery block after block except for some trees in the distance it's all concrete and asphalt, although it's very clean. Speaking of people wanting to be filmed, some people also don't want to be filmed, you had a woman a few days ago that looked seriously annoyed she was being filmed.
    Let's walk, if you ever want a side gig that earns a little income maybe you should consider tourist guide, it sounds like you have a knack for it.

    • @letswalkaroundstockholm
      @letswalkaroundstockholm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well that maybe seems like that. But Stockholm is the greenest city I know. Everywhere parks , trees & water. I would say its the best part. Check out my parks playlist for more 😄 Yes true some hate the cameras.

    Great walk and a beautiful neighborhood.
    As for women noticing being filmed, I was always worried someday one of the maight complain to you😁. But it seems it's the opposite according to you.
    Also, do they reply to "hey"? Is it common to say it to people passing by in quiet sidewalks?

    • @letswalkaroundstockholm
      @letswalkaroundstockholm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha. It only happened 1x that a lady complained that I filmed close to her children in 6months of walking. But if someone complaints i would stop immediately offcourse. Yes people usually reply to Hej.

    "Nice and crowded here", I agree. I get so confused by people who think Stockholm is too crowded. Like, have they not been in any other city? I feel like people with more international experience think the opposite, that Stockholm looks deserted/practically uninhabited. Lots of people is part of the attraction with cities as a concept even.

    • @letswalkaroundstockholm
      @letswalkaroundstockholm  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah exactly. I once had a guy from India and I spoke to him on Sergels torg. He said "this is such a nice little village" He was bloody serious 😄

    4:44 it seems common to sneak inside a shop in Stockholm!!
    Now I have seen many people doing this in previous videos too
    This is something that we avoid in our country!!

    • @DikWhite
      @DikWhite 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sneaking into a shop means entering surreptitiously. That's not what the lady is doing here, she's merely looking through the window at what seems to be an art shop or gallery. Perfectly normal.

    • @letswalkaroundstockholm
      @letswalkaroundstockholm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's kinda the purpose of the windows right?

    • @obamabinladen6618

      @@letswalkaroundstockholm I didn't mean to say that
      Here, (where I'm from)
      if someone is even staring at a shop in the market then owner would come out and take you in.
      And won't let you go unless you buy something!!
      It doesn't sound good but this is something that we avoid!!

      Most swedes will run away if the sales people are the slightest bit pushy 😀. But instead, in many places you may get the impression that they'd rather not sell you stuff 🤪. (The proper etiquette is for sales person to say, from a distance: "Please tell me if you need any assistance!" and the customer replies: "Thank you, I'm just looking".)
