HP still exists and sell consumer products such as computers, printers, etc. HP split into two companies HP Enterprise and HP Inc. The former focusing on business product lines and the latter consumer products. Really poor research/wroiting to repeat that mistake multiple times in this video.
The fact that Elizabeth Holmes got sent to prison for scamming rich people and not for threatening the health and safety of everyone who used her stupid scambox is one of the most infuriating things about that whole debacle. Also, imagine being her children and learning your whole existence was an attempt to keep mommy out of prison, and it failed.
She didn't threaten anyone's lives since her machine didn't work and FDA wouldn't allow/approve a device such as hers without rigorous testing and giving it approval. So, she can't be charged for something that would never make it to market. At Least she only ripped off her rich colleagues/investors and now can enjoy a nice 11 years in jail for her nefarious efforts. It sounds like nothing but when you live 24 hours a day for 4015 days locked up. That is a LONG time and time you can never get back.
My mom had an HP touch pad. Used it for a couple years before it stopped working I think. It was a free gift my brother got through work if I recall. He gave it to her.
I kind of miss Palm. I used to have a Palm IIIc and I remember there was this neat kind of fencing-based RPG called Lordinium I used to play on my lunch breaks at work. Ahh, good times.

As I recall that was a design flaw of only the battery. Still bad but nothing to sink a company especially one as diverse as Samsung, they sell far far more than smartphones. Still something to keep in memory though, battery fires are still an issue with all sorts of other things, electric scooters, bikes, and cars, probably some others, but vehicles are the most dangerous because their battery packs are so large, long time to burn and set other things on fire.
Sir Sinclair was an economical man, he had one of them was the ZX Spectrum which gained incredible popularity throughout Europe, and later the closed USSR. But with the C5, it turned out to be an extremely disastrous product, that in the end the company died, and Sir Sinclair himself passed away in 2021.
The Edison from Theranos shouldn't be on this list because it was an outright con job. It never worked; at least the rest of the items on the list partially did what they claimed they could do. I would include products like the Edsel, the DeLorean, the Newton, the Zune, the Windows Phone, and that's all just off the top of my head.
Another winner for shortest lifespan on a store shelf would be the Microsoft Kin 1 & 2. The idea behind this device was that it was a smart phone but with out an ecosystem…. After 49 days the devices were pulled from the shelves only to be reintroduced as feature phones, but by then it was all over.

I still have a CueCat around here in a box somewhere. Never signed up for anything tho. You could physically mod them to just read bar codes without signing up. Was fun, but not really useful for the average person. Amazon tried that basic model again not too long ago with their Wand, which they ended up killing as a product.

ya know it just hit me that Elizabeth Holmes is the same type of Alien that Mark Zuckerberg is. They both have that same Doll Eyed look constantly, that weird sort of, disconnected stare that comes from something TRYING to interact the way humans do. Uncanny.
This is what happens when you are focused on quantity rather than quality. The result is that these products don't do very well, critically or commercially.
When it comes to the electric tricycle, that needs to come back, I'm being totally serious about that, it needs a redesign, get rid of everything that made a terrible in the first place, make some things bigger, make something smaller, and have some things more efficient, it may be a big wheel for adults, but it's still a good, it's a ridiculous idea, but still an good idea. HP did not go defunct. HP did not pull out of the consumer market. HP computers and printers are still available, but you should not buy an HP printer because they are locking down their firmware so that only official HP ink cartridges will work on some models.
Aside from the blood tester I never heard of any of these, and even then only after it came out that it was a scam. I'm still not sure why the mastermind behind the scam got less jail time than her boyfriend who came in after the fact.
