When anthems were sung, I was expecting to hear "O Canada" which I had heard recently when Blackhawks were playing in Montreal. Instead, I heard "God Save the Queen," with the camera focused, not on the flag, but on a portrait of Her Majesty in all her glory looking like she was ready to slay the world in defense of her people. She may have enen had a sword. I was impressed! Trivia fact: I think Leafs won the game, and Canadiens won the other game I mentioned.

@@karenwesley84 Your comment about Remembrance Day was interesting. Actually, I think Leafs last won Stanley Cup in 1967. The Chicago Blackhawks were favored to win Cup that year because they had the best regular season record, winning the Prince of Wales Trophy, but Maple Leafs beat them in playoffs. I think Leafs then won the Cup by beating Montreal Canadiens. That was back in the original six days shortly before expansion. I hope the Leafs don't go a 108 years without a title like the Chicago Cubs did!

@@bannermanigans And most Canadians know that O Canada was first written in French. Any schoolchild attending school in today's day and age understand Canadian history, including where our national anthems come from. Canada still considers The Maple Leaf to be an unofficial anthem much like O Canada. Canada's true national anthem is God Save the Queen since we are part of the British Commonwealth.
Nobody thinks twice about Quebec, and nobody cares about your histrionics anymore.
“O Canada” sucks because it’s a slow, boring, church hymn with lyrics that are repetitive and unimaginative in English. The “Maple Leaf Forever” is a song you can blast out the top of a Kangaroo carrier as you smash your way through the Scheldt, incinerating Germans as you go.
I gotta say that was just as epic as the Soviet marches
The 2nd battle of Ypres
Exactly what I wanted to know
I wish being patriotic was still a common thing.
Nationalism and patriotism unite countries and lack of it destroys them
@@captainrex5947 we are taught to feel shame for our country in school and in modern culture. We hear of our missteps and failures constantly, and dwell on them in the education system, and even cancel Canada day because of them. Pretty sad
@@seymourpant same here in America. Our education system is the most brain dead brainwashing system I have ever seen I recently got put into private school who gets $3,000 a year for each student and our public education system that I learned nothing from gets $15,000 per student and they keep asking for more and don’t teach us shit

I like it! It's very beautiful music!
For Majesty and Country.
This doesn't seem like the austrian anthem
Austrian Monarchist That's weird😂 I find you in whatever youtube video of this page, but are you really austrian ???
Francis Trip Yes of course I am
Ok but I'm not understanding your phrase, I mean, what is the significance of "It does not seems like the austrian" 😂 of course! It's canadian 😂😂😂
Francis Trip it was a joke I used to pull off until he actually posts it
Austrian Monarchist Yeah okk 😂😎
Happy Dominion day
A much better anthem than O Canada. The Maple Leaf Forever!
It's great! Thank you for the upload =)
My Great Great Grandpa fought through world war one from start to finish. The stories he passed down of how Canada used to be make me tear up. I hope we can return to the times he would have lived in. When we more united and a British Nation again as opposed to where we're going. I love my country so very much and I am so very proud to be a Canadian. God save the King!
I have great respect for my Northern friends. We are not so different and the very best of chums i'd say - Love from the US

It is sad to think so many soldiers were sent to die under this flag and national anthem. For it to be so easily changed.
Proud Conservative Canadian here!
a rare breed :(

I don’t mind Conservatives now. Ever since these extremist liberals have been popping up out of the millennial generation and how Trudeau is helping their cause *alot* I think I’ll start voting conservative.

Hello from the United States; as far as Canadian patriotic songs go, my personal favorite is a tie between this song and "O Canada," their national anthem.

@@m_g6659 As an American, I remember watching a Chicago Blackhawks/ Toronto Maple Leafs game played in old Maple Leafs Garden in I think 1966.
@@stephenkammerling9479 The Maple Leafs actually won their last Championship in 1966. They've never won a game since. God Save the Queen is still played on Remembrance Day, at least it is where I live in the Province of Ontario.
Happy canada day!
This is a really fast march.
Canada should have kept that flag as it's national flag.

As an American, can I ask what happened in 1953 that caused Canada to no longer be a Dominion?
tbh even as a Canadian I don't know why 1953 was chosen for the date. Honestly, it should be 1951 as that's when Canada stopped being referred to as a Dominion. The only major event for Canada in 1953 really was Elizabeth II being crowned, but I don't see how that would have anything to do with it.
It still is a dominion
