    Ever left a good stationery store without buying a cheap pen or pencil you've not seen before? Neither have I. They all seemed to have potential, and they wrote so nicely on the testing pad by the pens display stands too, before you took them home. Great video Joe and Ethan!

    Oh my goodness, I thought I was bad for buying too many cheap and cute pens! Ballpoint, gel, marker, clicky... love'em all!
    I have a clear acrylic little dresser drawer unit that's supposed to be for makeup... three little drawers FULL of pens. Also have a tray full of clean empty candle jars or jam jars, all FILLED with pens and highlighters... I'm just as bad with all those colored highlighters and mildlighters and pastel highlighters they didn't have back when I was a student lol!!!

    I am addicted to Bic pens. I love cheap pens. The Bic 1.6 mm pens are the smoothest writing pens!

      I'd like them more if only my handwriting was compatible with them. As is, I write too small for 1.6mm pens.

    I make a class distinction in cheap ballpoints. Low-class ones have a price barcode permanently affixed to the barrel. And if a cheap pen has a retractable point and its plunger fails to return to the up position, I dislike it.

    I love those Bic Cristal Exact (Ultra Fine) pens. They write much smoother than they have any right to be for being so incredibly fine. They're even more smooth than the "Xtra Smooth" medium 1.0 Cristals. They do sell Bic Glide Exact retractables with 0.7 tips as well that also write incredibly nice.

    Never lost my love of the Bic Cristal. They're: perfect.

      I've tried Pilot, I've tried CIS (Linc subsidiary), I've tried Pilot. At least for fine point pens, I keep coming back to the Bic.

    Does anybody know who makes the stick ballpoints kept at FedEx counters for customer use? The pens have the company's logo on a white plastic barrel and feature an extended needle-type point similar to the Kum Triball's. The ones I've used have a medium line and smooth, black ink. I've never been able to swipe one.

    I think the Pentel one is actually Pentel K105 with a different refill and caps?

    Gel ink pens are my all time favorites. I'd gone off leaky Bic Crystals years ago, however recently I discovered the Bic Velocity Atlantis 1.6 mm -- which suits my writing style well.

    • @CAMERADACTYLCameras

      I dig the atlantis refills, and use them in some zebra pens. I think that they are basically the same as the bic Xtra Bold 1.6mm cristals. I dont find them to be leaky at all, but if I leave them tip down in a cup for a few days, I will generally have to wipe the tip before writing, or I get that one blob when I start.

    My all-time favorite pen is the Pentel Hybrid Technica in 0.3mm and 0.4mm extra fine ball tip. The pens are hard to find (try a very good art supply store) but fortunately JetPens carries refills in black, red, and blue. Great smooth writing with no blobs or smudging.
    My next choice is the similar form and only slightly lessened performance (more than compensated by many color options and archival ink) is the Uniball Signo UM-151 DX.
    When it comes to mechanical pencils, I would invite you to marvel at the capped phenomenon - The Pentel Sharp Kerry. Look it up!

    Can you give me info on where to buy the Linc Pentonic? Or your other pens. Thank you!

    • @CAMERADACTYLCameras
      @CAMERADACTYLCameras 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess it depends where you are in the world. I was able to buy the Pentonics in a 12 pack on amazon in the US. The rest of them came from Cultpens in the UK. You may be able to find some of them on ebay or amazon too, but usually in larger packs

    I'm the type that got into Muji and can never go back. Got hooked on their hex clicks when in NYC a few years ago after using their capped round bodies for a while, and am so sad I can't find them anywhere now (definitely with Muji closing their US subsidiaries, which haven't carried the clicks in a few years). Might have to do a big enough order to justify using a Japanese shipping intermediary so I can get my Muji 0.38 Black clicks again

    • @CAMERADACTYLCameras
      @CAMERADACTYLCameras 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I found this option while searching for a gel pen without a rubber grip. Almost sent my sister to the muji store near her to find some, but I think they're not in the USA anymore. I'm not sure if they are anywhere. I found the Kaco Rocket though, which has been a great gel pen body. good for gel refills and also the uni-jetstreams. I think Sal on Unsharpen just did a video about this combo.

    My weapon of choice is a Stabilo Sensor Blue Fine 0,3. EAN 4006381114189. A felt tip, so not running with this crowd, but hey, it takes all sorts right?

      Maybe one day I will convince joe to do a video on fineliners and tech pens. I just discovered the Staedtler Handwriting Pen 309, seems like a pretty nice felt tip writing pen. All my other felt tips are for drawing, I would ruin them in an hour writing like a gorilla.

    Re the Asian pens that need to be pressed onto the paper: maybe they are designed to suit character based writing (e.g. Mandarin) rather than script?

    • @CAMERADACTYLCameras
      @CAMERADACTYLCameras 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is an interesting supposition, but I dont think it's the case. Some of the smoothest and nicest ballpoints I have found come out of Japan, Taiwan, and China. They tend to have finer tips, for cramming more lines into a small space (Kanji), but are often super smooth (jetstream, pilot acroball, zebra eq series hybrid inks, and of course, so many gel pens). I think that hybrid or lubricated inks are just a newer development, maybe in the last 15 years, and the draggy korean pens that I got (monami 153's) are just classics from another era. I think they've been around with the same design since the 60's. Similar to the Skilshare US Government pen.
