- Play is Iceland's newest low-cost airline attempting to capitalize on the small island country's geographoc location between North America and Europe. The airline was founded in 2019 and operates a small fleet of Airbus A320neo & A321neo aircraft.
Iceland has a history of low-cost carrier's succeeding and failing, with its biggest success being the flag carrier Icelandair which operates hundreds of flights a week transiting millions of passengers a year between or to the island. Stopover packages are popular for travelers young and old on a budget to visit Reykjavik and its surrounding area for a couple of days before continuing on to their intended destination. WOW Air was an ultra-low-cost carrier that operated between 2012 and 2019 that had been successful and annually delivered over one fourth of all visitors to Iceland. The airline's demise was caused by poor decisions and an over-expansion, and much of WOW's executives are now working for Play.

I found roundtrip from Boston to Copenhagen for about 550. Can’t beat that
Flew this exact flight in October as part of a trip to Paris. $327 R/T. Could not believe it! Loved those seats though our return on last leg was an A320 with standard seat pitch. Pity. The legroom as ok on 320 but Awesome on the 321. All 4 flights we had a row to ourselves so that was a plus. Flights were on time, crews were ALL fantastic!! I am a huge fan even when they do reduce seat pitch throughout the fleet. Food was reasonable and high quality. Icelandic hospitality is something else. Very impressive and I hope they make it. Will definitely fly with them again.

@@Tunechi65 no more uncomfortable than anyone else. Seats were pretty comfy and if you’re lucky enough to be on on of the a321s they “acquired”, you’ll have tons of leg room. Otherwise it’s pretty normal. Crews were spectacular. I would totally do it again. Hoping they add my city to one of the USA routes but their plan is to keep it smaller to not fall into the trap WOW fell into.
Loved those sunset shots, and Play looked fine for the price, including catering. But at the future 30" pitch, with no IFE or power, I'm not so sure. I loved all the sunset shots and being back in BOS - hopefully Christmas 23 in my occasional US base.

@@Tunechi65 The seats are actually comfortable enough for economy and not different than any other major airline. Play’s legroom is the best we have ever had in all our traveling years.

Being the prices are in Icelandic denomination how do know if your not being over charged for the items you bought?
The prices are listed in Euros (€). Exchange rates are available from Google and nearly every news and financial website. Knowing the value of the Euro helps you judge the prices.
