Man this is high quality stuff. You deserve far more views and subs. Keep at it bro. Your quality will catch on. I added this comment and pressed the bell notifications for the algorithm for you.
I’ve lost count on how many times I’ve watched this vid. So much good information. This creator is going places.
Long but comprehensive video tutorials with demonstrations aren't common in the WT community, which makes me appreciate them all the more because I have an idea of how much work goes behind it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and going to check out your previous videos. Thanks. You have a new enthusiastic subscriber. You'll be my @DEFYN junior 🙂

The reason for this is explainable. You dont control RPM in manual mode but directly prop pitch.
Meaning in a 51 if you control the RPM manually (which was the case in reality all the time) the prop pitch govenor changes the propeller pitch to achieve the set RPM (100% = 3000RPM)
Meaning if you go fast the pitch is coarse, if you go slow the pitch of the blades are fine.
In the 109 this is different. in engine manual mode you dont control the RPM but really the prop pitch. Meaning if you go slow and you set the pitch coarse (
yooo it's the IL-2 youtuber
Damn this came out with waaay more production quality than I expected.
Also pretty good to show up in a few matches :)
Just commenting to let you know that your content is exactly what people like myself are looking for. High quality footage from a guy who knows what he's talking about and going through all the decisions he makes in a match, seriously awesome stuff man. All the more impressive with how young you are, congrats on graduating and good luck with everything you pursue.
Very informative!! Great video!
Excellent tutorial bro, keep on going! Subscribed 👌
Great video. The way you broke it down and the different chapters. Quality guide.
Outstanding content! Keep ‘em coming.
Video suggestion: an early jet guide (Me-262 or F-80)
Cool video, really like the detailed breakdown!
Nice guide! Thank you so much!
thanks for making this video because 109s are my favorites planes in the game and your content is very good, you explain what you are doing like defyn. Very good content and high quality gameplay
MAN IT'S GOOD
THANK YOU FOR CONTENT CONTINUE WHAT YOU ARE DOING!
Dude this video is just what i needed, i used to be more of a Yak 3/ La 7 but i wanted to try out something a little more high altitude and the 109s always seemed nice and this really helped me understand how to better utilize the strengths of the plane.
Great video and I gotta say, I think you have the best Aim I've seen in War Thunder, I'm impressed by some of your shots, you make it look easy!!!
This is such a high production video man, you really know your stuff. Wonderful video, I hope the TH-cam algorithm blesses you
Great video, getting way better results now!
Amazing video. Just started learning Bf109 F4 so this is perfect.
Awesome tips, thanks!
I didn't realize you were so young until you mentioned just graduating in a more recent video. Your presentation style is great, you're very articulate and you teach in a very approachable manner. I hope your channel grows and grows! Thanks for helping us fly better!
This was very well illustrated and articulated, well done. I have not one bad thing to say and you play the energy game well! You made a comment about the F4 being sluggish now…if you take “Instructor” off you’ll become much more nimble and maneuverable at the cost of stability. You can easily stall or snaproll if you’re rough on the stick. It’s like flying a different plane allowing you to be much more aggressive. Someone like you could outturn a spitfire with the E and F using flaps in the right situations.
Keep it up!
This video was great keep up the work man
I have played this game alot but i still rely on my insticts rather than tactics or strategies. Thank you for this mate

If I remember correctly, the Bf 109s had automatic propeller pitch. The Pilots would change the boost pressure (in at/ata/atü [kgf/cm²]; 1 at ≈ 0,980 bar) and the prop pitch atomatically adjusts to set pressure.
There is also the Ladedruckanzeige (boost pressure indicator) inside the cockpit, pilots would more likely fly with this indicator rather than prop pitch.
Note: I’m not native English speaking and also not an engineer, so maybe Ladedruck is more likely translated to manifold absolute pressure in the context of a Bf 109 DB 605 engine.
Very educational, thank you
it’s always refreshing seeing someone know their shit down to a science. Awesome video man :)
This really helped! Ty a lot!
very good vid, has been very useful in helping me go from hating the 109s to liking them a fair bit :)
if you are taking video suggestions, would appreciate a g.56 video, its not a very specialized plane, but it is pretty fun
I subcribed just because it is 109, I dont really enjoy any utuber playing 109s since Smitty left but u give a lil hope. Keep up the good work 👍
Helped me a lot
Excellent video and channel.
What a guide 10/10 I hope there will be more like a Spitfire Or P-51 done this way, thanks
This is perfect☺
this video alone got me to subscribe, why haven't i found your channel sooner
damn, I love your video. MORE PLEASE!
just made the switch from d9 to g2 trop to grind rank 4 and 5, thank you for this guide, it's great. If you have the time please do make a video of roughly how to fight which planes in each rank, I just don't have the knowledge about the planes like I have of tanks.
Maybe I ask a lot but could you make that kind of vidéos with other planes ?
Great advices and gameplay btw, I already hit that like button :)
These videos take a lot of effort, but I’ll make more of these in the future!
Thanks for the info great content. Have you tried BF-109 Dora. Rools very nicely.
you made it! 🤗🤗🤗
thanks.
ta-152C next? 😜
Maybe ;)
i am relatively new player(lvl 16) and grinded bf 109 F4, and going to research this treeline further, 'cuz i need CAS aircrafts for Ground RB and Bf 109s are more universal, they are somewhat manouverable(in comparison with other german aircrafts) and have bombloads. Thanks for the video, was very informative, i hope it will help me to grind other aircrafts of german tech tree
Good Flyin good aim.
Just a minor correction to the start (4:04):
The 7.92 mm MG 17 were built by Rheinmetall and not by Mauser. But the 20 mm MG 151/20 were built by Mauser. :)
I love the bf 109, especially the e7. Second plane I got an ace in freely
Clean ass intro clean dives and execution
I love it
thank you
Omg this is a really useful guide! Very nice, one question this type of tactics can be used also with the fw190d13? I'm struggling with his poor elevator controls
Thanks!
You can use these same tactics, but you can’t be as aggressive in energy traps because the 190D has worse energy retention in the vertical and turn
@@MacWithGun i will try! thx
Truly masterful, thanks for the beautiful clips at start and the guide.
If Im in a close fight at a disadvantage and I'm close to the the other aircraft, I like to give him a burst. A lot of inexperienced players hear that and assume I must actually have a shot, when in fact, I don't. They will often go on the defense instead of pressing their turn in an attack, and that's often all I need.
Smart asf my dude , I got to try this
I don't understand how to control the manual engine but i want to try it soon 😂. A question, is 109 still good without controlling the manual engine?
I understand you prefer the G-6, but if you have recorded a good games with the BF 109 F-4, I would greatly appreciate a video adding a text analysis of "what you do and why you do it", just like in the YAK-9U video from 23.02.2024 which also concludes with a 7-kill battle with an F-4.
hello
thanks for the great video, i rly like 109s so it will be of use :)
just a quick technical question, how do you cut throttle so fast (an exemple is when you are energy trapping with the 109 F-4 and the F-6C i think) ? i have to wait maybe 1/2 sec to go from wep to 0% (using mouse wheel or keys). Are you using a specific setup ?
And for the flaps, is there any difference between take off and landing (while climbing for an energy trap) ?
So there’s a nifty little trick you can do with your controls.
In the control throttle, you can to set up a key bind to ‘reset axis’
Very, very cool !
The mini-montage was great, I loved it !
Very good tips, the best thing is that you implemented a lot of examples in this video.
Praise the german engineering and the wonderful "Deutsche Qualität" !
every new player should watch this video
Also the k4 has a longer vertical stabilizer
Thanks for this! What are your thoughts G10, vs G14, vs K4?
G14 is basically a slightly lighter g6 at 5.3
K4 is all around best, since it has better performance at altitudes below 5km and is faster than the g10.
I’d only use the g10 for altitudes over 6km
You are a lot more maneuverable than my plane is
Do you play the entire match with MEC on?
The old school tip was to only use it during climb and inbetween fights to cool the engine off.
I do play the entire match with MEC, yes. I find it more efficient, because if my engine is overheating I can simply open the radiators slightly more, or do whatever else. I can also do other tricks easier, such as the German airbrake.
How to manually adjust radiators?
war thunder affiliate link when? 😜
btw. if you made a decal, could it be defyns, just changed up a bit? or use his wingtipp emblem as decal for confusion…😈
*_How to master… Go up!_*
What are your key binds for your flaps? Because mine are 'f' for combat flaps and then ']' for combat, takeoff and then landing flaps.
F-toggle
V-lower
G-raise
C-gear 😬
It’s a bit weird, but it works for me :)
@@MacWithGun Okay, thank you
Just commenting for the algorithm
I think i need to improve my crew skills, no way i could do that without making my screen black cz my pilot is passed out.
If you havent could you do a setting video?
I’ll cover my settings in the near future!
How do you do it bro :/// my bf109g6 doesnt want to turn more than 7.5 degrees when above 600km/h
This video made me a subscriber.
like a G-6, like a, like a G-6…🤗
yeah. the only higher rank 109 that works for me.
i have a problem with XP-50s that are way above me in the F-4. when having an energy advantage, every 109 is ok…but getting there.
The algorithm has smiled upon you this day.
Never knew of you before but recommended to me, great video all round, might be long but 100% worth the watch
Ok help a brother i play grb and got into aviation for cas but I suffer i get killed with just a small burst and when i shoot like there is no tomorrow sometimes get a kill I don't know if it is skill issue or I use wrong belts or shells or bullets so should i use he or armor piercing for planes that is
He belts is almost always better for killing aircraft. Find the belts with the most HEF, HEFI, or API bullets/shells.
I use 600m convergence without vertical targeting, and make sure you are leading your guns properly.
@@MacWithGun thank you and your video was really helpful as well it.
I just got my first jet. But, I don’t see the appeal for jet gameplay in war thunder. It’s so fast paced and missiles makes gameplay more challenging.
Secondly, I feel like you have to unlearn everything from props, as stalling out people is a recipe for a missile.
I really want to see if the Bf-109 Z can be salvaged as a useful plane. I purchased it and I just can't make it perform at all. Perhaps you can give some tips?
I don’t have it unfortunately, but you have to play it as a strict BnZ fighter.
With its poor turn rate combined with the slow guns, predicting how the enemy will dodge is key to aiming with the zwilling.
If you miss, then you climb straight up, no turnfighting
@@MacWithGun It took me quite a lot of flight time to get to the point I could call myself anything approaching "good" with it. Boom and zoom is pretty much the only method that works with it.
I remember reading about 109s having some sort of low speed thrust bug decreasing performance. Is this still the case?
Doesn't seem like it. You had to use manual prop pitch below 200kp/h, and put it to 70% (or lower if at higher altitude). This allowed the aircraft to float in the air, in the exact same way that Mac showcased, but since he wasn't using this trick it means that it has been "fixed" by implementing it to the auto prop pitch.
Yeah later 109s 4.7 and above, especially the k-4 have a problem where their engine goes kaput at speeds below 240kph IAS, losing around 1/3 of its horsepower
@@MacWithGun I remember reading that a similar effect exists in all aircraft in WT and that it's a realistic behaviour.
@@blacktiger974yes. That is because propellers lose efficiency at lower speeds. They kinda act like rotating wings and “stall” at low speeds like planes do. However, 109s have another prop pitch trick where below 250kph, you can turn on manual prop pitch and set between 64-70% prop pitch to pull thrust out of thin air. I recommend staying at exactly 64% to get the most effect without overheating and over revving the engine too quickly. You can use it to float in stall fights and it’s saved my virtual life lots of times
which 109 is ur personal favorite?
tried it out today...yup my mistake was climbing with 270 kph and full rads open all the time...
put my rads to 40% and climbed with 290 kph, everything went fine...
K4 and g10 is basically the same engine just k4 uses different fuel
How do you deal with the LF mk9 who are above you ?
I covered this is the first game of my most recent video on the G-14. But I’ll also explain below.
There is a griffon spit above me, I bait him into a short turning fight then run away.
Since he bleeds more speed then I do in turns, I force him into a turn to equalize our energies so that I can then exit the fight and get away from him.
my number 1 problem is having someone behind you and at the same altitude. Even though my plane performs better at higher alts, how do i get myself in an advantageous position?
It depends on what plane you and the enemy are in.
If you climb better and/or are faster, just run until the enemy either breaks off or you have enough space to turn around and accelerate for a merge.
You can also dive to gain speed and set up for a reversal, but it’s more risky. I’d only do this if I was desperate or if my plane is better in a dogfight.
@@MacWithGun ah, the running away i understand. Getting into an advantageous merge i don't understand. It's always 1 turn and they are 400 meters behind me
@@hendrik457 you have to get enough separation so that once you turn around, you can then accelerate up to a decent speed before you head on them.
@@MacWithGun ahh so. It feels so stupid though. That this is the 'only' strategy. I would rather energy trap them. But i can't seem to get myself in a position to do that. For example. Me in a k4 and opponent in a lf mk 9 at 5k alt.
@@hendrik457 for that scenario, I accelerate and then shallow climb, 10degrees or so. Starting At 5km, the 109k easily out climbs and outruns the spitfire. Just run for 2 mins, if you are above him and faster too, then you can start a slow upwards spiral to stall him out
This is that good shit
hey man do you do duels? I think it would be a great experience to duel someday!
Not too often, but do you mean just record duels with specific planes?
@MacWithGun would be cool to see 109 duels vs specific planes and how to fight them, spitty, yaks etc.
@@MacWithGun I mean fuels with viewers maybe
From my experience and this video, I think the Bf 109 is the german version of Michael Jordan, hangs in the air.
Btw you said that the Bf 109F-4 got nerfed, of course! If they were as in real life, they would have been true competitors to XP-50, F2G, P-51H, etc
"Bf 109F-4 got nerfed, of course! If they were as in real life, they would have been true competitors to XP-50, F2G, P-51H, etc"
A tru F4 enjoyer
@@OfficialAnekito, Yes I LOVE Bf 109s but I don't have the skill yet to get average 4 kills per game, but yeah I was suffering when I got it, and I knew something was wrong.
tbh its fine in sim mode, u get alot of aerodynamic advantage in sim controls
@@planeloverpilot4802 It's still a very good plane
You mean k4??
4:00 But those MG 17s are from Rheinmetall, while the MG 151 is from Mauser :O
awesome video! i love the f4 and this makes me want to get back in it
Careful, the flight mode got nerfed and it doesn’t turn as well anymore, but it’s still a good plane.
@@MacWithGun awe I'm sad now I'm playing with the g14 instead
@@moto_45__ fly the g6, it’s the best midtier 109 and my favorite, it’s just a bit overweight
@MacWithGun I was earlier but I found it alittle weak but I've been doing okay in the 14, do you climb straight in or off to the side?
@@moto_45__ Because 109s need altitude to be competitive, I only do a slight side climb, which gives me the alt advantage.
G14 is also pretty good, but I find the G6 to be better because its only a slight performance difference at .7BR lower.
