You are a true lover of music, and it's so revitalizing to see. It's especially hard to find reactors on this platform that properly understand and love club/edm music.
If you didn’t know, this is RAYE’s first independent album. She was part of a label for 7 years, which ended up being pretty abusive. They told her she would only get an album if her singles did well, which they never promoted enough, she was writing songs for top artists and featuring on songs with huge producers and DJs just for them to not credit her correctly for her work. “Hard Out Here” is her big “FU” to the industry and the white privileged men who kept their thumb on her. She still liked dance music, but as we heard, she is so much more versatile than that. That is why “Black Mascara” was the only dance song on the album even though most of her discography before this album was dance music. I can’t wait to hear more from her, she has been a fav of mine since 2017, and seeing her thrive doing this all on her own is so heartwarming and overly-deserving for her talent. Thank you for reacting!!! 🥰🫶🏽🔥
Thank you for the summary. I had found out a little bit about this after I filmed the video. I'm so happy she's finally able to escape that label and do what she wants.
Thank you so much for this.. I too have been a long time RAYE fan and have been turning a lot of my friends on to her and saw her recently in New York City.. her story, her journey, her lyrics come together in one incredible Powerhouse artist. She DESERVES a Grammy. And now she releases the Symphony version of this album showcasing her incredible voice to a even higher level.
Your review and reaction to this album is the best I have seen. Thank you so much. Now we have 21st Century Symphony release, from her live performance at Royal Albert Hall, showcasing how much of a powerhouse she is. Watching the show and seeing her remove her clothes to sing Ice Cream Man and Body Dysmorphia makes her one of the most incredible human beings on the planet
Great reaction! Yes Raye really put herself out there bravely and most beautifully. Although each single released so far can and does stand on its own, it’s an album best heard start to finish, to travel with her on this journey. Each song taps into the one previous and leads to the next which is a reaction to what you just listened to… SKILLS!!! I don’t know if you’re familiar with Little Simz, but her last two albums (especially Sometimes I Might Be Introvert) also takes you on an emotional and storytelling journey… you should check it out if you haven’t already! (She’s got a new one too!) ❤️
