Lol! 😂 Yes to everything you’ve said! Don’t feel bad. The market is inundated with a lot of soulless decks. It’s just the truth. Fortunately, it’s also a time when more independent creators are getting their decks out into the world than ever before, at least that how it feels to me. There’s just a lot of product to sift through. Most of it doesn’t appeal to me either, and that’s ok. I am, however, very intrigued by the idea of this “Hour Glass Tarot” you speak of 😄 (I was cracking up over that).
Thank you so much for taking the time to share my deck with your viewers! I had so much fun listening to you. My husband really liked your genuineness as well( I don’t know if that’s a real word). I’m so happy that you are enjoying the deck, and that you like the collage. The card stock will break in. My deck is pretty pliable now, but if I ever get to do a 2nd edition, I will choose a somewhat thinner card stock and will ditch the gilding. Live and learn, I suppose. 😊 Again, thank you so much! 🥰

Your deck is so lovely. Can’t wait to get my hands on it. I do love the gilding on it. I think it fits well with the whole vibe. Thank you for creating such a beautiful deck for us to enjoy! ❤

I clicked on this so fast. I’ve been dying to get this deck. I love it so much and it feels so me. Hopefully I can find some extra cash soon. I love everything you said and absolutely agree with you. I’m stoked the creator reached out to give you a review copy. I always enjoy your takes. The hour glass tarot made me chuckle. Thank you for doing this! Much love ❤

I don’t know if you’ve heard, but the deck is currently 20% off through Wednesday, in case you still want a copy. 😊

This is a very cool deck, kudos to the creator's vision. I agree with you about the merchandising trend with fandom decks. It's not that people shouldn't have fun with decks from their favorite TV show or whatever, it's the motivations of the companies to make profits from unthoughtful decks typically filled with lazy pips. They are rip offs that don't honor the history or messages of tarot or even try to provide the great art that dedicated creators provide. Thanks for showing this lovely deck.

There's a difference between tarot and other divination tools having origins as games or games doubling as divination tools (playing cards, mahjong, dominoes, storytelling cards, Rorschach inkblots, etc.) VS making caricatures or jokes of something spiritual. In some ways it's fine to make a light-hearted or fandom-y version of something... until it becomes a cash grab or a gimmick.
I recently saw a mass market publisher open pre-orders for a deck created without an artist, using AI. That, to me, enters that "caricature" and "gimmick" and "soulless" categories more than many fandom decks now available. If the "language" you already speak is Alice in Wonderland, Avatar the Last Airbender, Game of Thrones, etc. and that will help you understand the language of tarot... sure, why not! It's the AI decks (even more so when coming from mass market publishers) that I find discouraging and soul-sucking.
