Filipinos soldiers are hard headed people when it comes to the word "SURRENDER". Its in their blood.. "no retreat no surrender..! Just like in Korea "the Battle of Yultong" and others...they were ordered to retreat because the commander of UN sees that it is impossible for Filipino s to hold their position or defense... but they just ignored it. And they'd turn the tides---they'd prevail...! Greetings from Indonesia.. we salute you all cousins!!

Filipino soldiers were used in fighting those kind of people, they had countless of experience against those kinds of situation. You can't just easily trust the other side especially on those kind of situation. In Battle,A soldier must not only use their strength or heart, but also their mind. You can't save someone without a proper mind.Simple."

I’m Filipino. When I had a DNA test, the result was I am Malaysian, Indonesian and Filipino. Its not even either/ or. The result was all of the above, which means we are of the same race. I don’t even know any relatives in Malaysia or Indonesia yet my dna can be traced from these countries.

My seaman cousin once told that the Indian officers on their ship do not give the same level of respect to other foreigners. I believe this general is of the same mindset and therefore couldn't care less about the safety of the Filipino soldiers, he only wants to reduce the embarrassment he was facing of having troops lost during his watch.

As a pinoy, proud ako sa Mga 2014 peace keepers sa UN. As a US veteran, it is never our protocol to submit to any terrorists (foreign & domestic). As a RN working with lots of Indians, my observations with them are they don’t take pride & honor to their work & that often more concerned with the value of money vs their job. Filipinos outclass them in healthcare & job performance.
Indians excel in money making business & tech, that’s it. This is their orientation & culture. That’s what they are good for. They do have crab mentality as well. Lol.

Exactly kabayan pero mga lahing punggal or Indiano wala pa naman silang supistikadong teknolohia na sariling gawa, magaling lang silang makipagmerge sa mauutak na bansa tulad ng japan etc. Mas hahanga kA sa mga Chekwa kaseh ang mentalidad Nila bibili sila ng product tapos pag-aaralan Nila upang i-kopya after that re-modification namn ang kanilang gagawin. Marami na rin akong nakatrabahong mga punggal pagdating sa Pera hindi sila Pala lamang but I'm not generalizing it.

tama lang ang ginawa ng mga tropa, as one of the military personnel, isa sa mga pinaniniwalaan namin ay mamatay nalang kami pero hindi namin isusuko ang baril namin, dahil ang pagsuko ng baril nangangahulugan ng kamatayan, at isa pa hindi nangangahulugan ng kaduwagan ang ginawa nila, dahil parerehas silang mga sundalo, nandun sila para bantayan ang border, kaya dapat bilang sundalo alam na nila na maaring mamatay sila or hindi, kaya dpat ganyan din sana naging pag iisip ng mga sundalo ng ibang lahi, pag nag pabihag ka sa kaaway ibilang mo na ang sarili mo sa mga patay, lalo nat sundalo ka, pero sa dugong pinoy hindi ugali ng pinoy na sundalo na iwanan ang kasamahan sa labanan, kaya sa military hindi pwde ang salitang bihagin, dahil lalaban kami kahit mamatay, wag lang kami mabihag.

I agree...sabi ng isang kamag-anak na sundalo na napalaban ng matagal sa Mindanao. It is always better to die in a battle without giving up. Kasi kapag nabihag ka daw, torture, demoralization at pag-apak sa pagkatao at dignidad mo ang mararanasan mo na mas gugustuhin mo pang mamatay ng biglaan.

Filipino soldiers know how and what it is when talking to rebels in the Philiipines that's why you cannot blame them if they don't trust promises made by rebels in Syria. Kudos to our Philippine peacekeeping force in Syria for not bowing to the demands of the Syrian rebels.

Wow, it could not be denied that filipinos do have the brains and the will to surpass whatever odds that may come their way. Theyiìhad underestimated the capacity of the filipinos. What they missed to consider is that ...the filipino soldiers were used already dealings & fightings with their filipino counterparts(abusaYaf)while still here in the Philippines. I salute to the soldiers who was sent as peace keeping soldiers. Handing over your guns to the enemy to save their captures is 50/50 chances. The decision not to surrender was the best decision ever, otherwise same tactics will be used by their enemies to other contingents. It was a bluff, in war you either be captured as prisoners of war, or die or you win. There is no other option but to win. According to President George Washington, we come to fight and WIN. That is the only option that we have. And bec of that principle, they won the fight with only 500soldiers vs thousands of enemies in Pensylvannia. There were 2 casualties not from the bullets of their enemies, but died when they traverse the raging sea and very cold nights.
