Just caught up with this episode. Another cracking show. I have followed Helen on Twitter for a few years now but feel I've learned more about Helen and her work in this one hour slot than ever before. Another book on my list to read.

Howdy folks. Dr Fry does her usual excellent presentation. Lots of new info on the secret war. Very informative learned a lot. Don’t miss it.

Another brilliant and damned informative show. Helen is helluva researcher, she definitely has to do some serious leg work for this book. Can you imagine when records of the women are released what a treasure trove of amazing information. The sidebar was very engrossed and lively today. Thank you Helen and Paul

As Helen said, MI6 _never_ releases any records whatsoever about anything and the only matters we do know of are from official correspondences between them and other government agencies that ended up in the declassified records. And MI5 only releases a small percentage of their files. So the chances seem remote that we will ever learn what happened with these women. It was truly a silent service.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching this in replay as Helen brought us new perspectives about the role of women in WW2 intelligence. I particularly loved the bit about Latimer House. I read a great book called "The German Generals Talk" by Basil H. Lidell Hart which was revealing. I had no idea that Latimer House was connected with this intelligence coup. Brilliant!

As my uncle would have said so eloquently, " Those broads had balls". Indeed. Great show.

Interesting to discover an interview with Jock Colville, Assistant Private Secretary to Churchill during WW2 on TH-cam. Stated that he and Downing Street would not have recognised the term 'Ultra' and that the general codeword used for data and reports from Bletchley Park was 'Boniface'.

    Woody.
Great show as per normal. My always taking something from every talk, whatever the subject.
As a newcomer, was unaware of the huge back catalogue of shows you have amassed! For example, reference was made by Helen to the use of messenger pigeons. A subject you had already made a show on!
May I ask if there is a search function for your subjects? If not, maybe due to a lack of demand, time and cost to you insetting up?
    Many thanks
    Gary

I believe women have a genetic advantage over men in terms of multitasking and other essential survival traits well suited to the field and espionage. Many husband's out there would agree with me. Seriously, mankind has survived due to the combined but differing skills of women and men
