    Glad to see you mentioned the time frame this was filmed. Wouldn't hurt to put it in the description. We are thinking of heading there on our way back to FL in a couple of weeks.

      Wyane, you are very welcome, we try to remember to mention the time of year in our campsite reviews, but I know several of them don't list it. But I can say that you can usually get an idea of when it was filmed by the relase date, we are not very far ahead on our filiming. Thanks again- Kyle and Michelle

      @@thewanderingshores I don't have a set plan. I know it will be Colorado to start since I am in Conifer. I want to start with easy to get to locations and go from there. I have some stuff to get done before I can go full time nomad but I'm getting there. 🙂

    That's fabulous the Forest Service is taking care of campers that are left by locals to save a spot. I talked with the Rangers a few years ago, in Cedar City about that. Being just a few hours from Vegas there's dropped trailers all over the Dixie NF. They said even as understaffed as they are, they are working to address that issue into their schedule.

    • @thewanderingshores
      @thewanderingshores  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Greg, it is so nice to see the NF addressing these issues. It really opens things up to everyone to enjoy. We love Dixie as well, we are hoping to visit there again later this fall.

    Thanks, Kyle. I'm wrapping up my 3rd year of full-timing, and have been wanting to camp the Bighorns, so I've been especially grateful for your last couple of episodes.
    I camped Utah's amazing Wasach Plateau for 4 weeks this summer, and about 70% of the rigs parked up there were unoccupied. I hope the Forest Service steps up enforcement there! It's a real bummer to pass up great camp spots that are filled, but not occupied.

    • @thewanderingshores
      @thewanderingshores  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks Paul, glad that it was helpful. We will actually have another campsite review for another area here in the bighorns coming out on Wednesday and then the following Wednesday we will have another one so hopefully you can check those out. Yes, we agree. The enforcement is lacking in a lot of these places where people are just dropping their rigs and letting them sit. We are excited though that the bighorn National Forest office seems to be enforcing the rules. One of the drops that's been sitting here for 10 days since we've been here. Just got removed today by the owners

    Thanks. Good to know about the dispersed camping up there. When we were there all the spots had empty rvs parked in them. We couldn't find a decent spot but their was no one around. We came from Indiana, so it was super frustrating. That's alot of camping spots.

    • @thewanderingshores
      @thewanderingshores  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We know exactly what you are saying, but this is our second spot in the area (and currently in our third- video in the next week or so) but it really appears that NF Service is cracking down on all these people "storing" their campers up here. - Wander On- Kyle and Michelle. I camp a lot in the Bighorns being from Gillette Wyoming. Just to add some info… there are actually 2 grocery stores in Buffalo both on Highway 16 before you head up the mountain. You mentioned the Cenex station with the dump station. The other Cenex station further east about a half mile has propane to fill tanks. I’m not sure about water there. At any of the National Forest Campgrounds that have spigots you are welcome to the water or to use the vault toilets. However YOU CANNOT EMPTY YOUR TRASH unless you have paid for a site. There are also a few NF campgrounds that only have hand pump wells so that makes it harder to directly fill your RV fresh water but you can fill your jugs and then transfer into your tank if needed.
    I haven’t stayed at Elgin park yet but did drive it in my truck without my TT which has low clearance. So many of the dispersed places to get to them I know my camper would be in peril so there’s that. I’m glad to hear you say that the Rangers are cracking down on people dropping off their rigs and leaving. For years this has been a big problem to the point it was difficult to even find a spot!
    Love your channel!!

    • @thewanderingshores
      @thewanderingshores  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you, thank you, thank you... That is great info. So on our way into Buffalo (from the east) we did stop at that Cenex thinking that was the one with the dump. We quickly realized it was not, but I did not see any water. Thats a great lead about the propane there too. I was not sure what the rules about the water were are the NF campgrounds, I know the one not too far from this spot had water, but I thought it best for me not to mention that just incase people were really not supposed to get water there if they were not camped there. Thanks for the info. We really loved Elgin, well minus all the people parking in our campsite to use their cellphones 8) Thanks for watching and even more for taking the time to comment. Very good and helpful video to help find these places. I was wondering if you explain in any video how you decide to pick that exact spot over one that is half-mile away. And how you decide how close / far away from a neighbor is ok. (Not friends you are traveling with like BDR but distance to next unknown person). Might be interesting to film the decision process.

    Do you need 4x4 to drive those roads to get into the blm spots?

    • @thewanderingshores
      @thewanderingshores  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Becky, no, not at all. They are very manageable with two-wheel drive vehicles. Higher clearance might be ideal but honestly you're not going to have any problem getting back in those spots without 4x4

      @@Adventureswithbecky Actually there is no BLM places in the Bighorn National Forest but dispersed camping is allowed in the NF. There will be places that may be shut off by rocks or gates and will be posted no camping. They don’t want you to make a new campsite but to use areas where it has been used before usually easy to find by the hand made rock fire pits. But these places are all over the forest!
