Merry Merry, my friend 🎁 ! Check out " Insider" by Tom & Stevie on his Hard Promises album. This song is in my top 10 all time for vocal harmonies. Nobody sounds like these two together.Love your channel, friend!🎉❤
Mike Campbell is underrated, indeed. It’s because he’s not flashy. He just plays what the song needs. Everything is ver tasteful, I’d say. But his tone, his style, his musicality and technical perfection just make him a joy to listen to. God bless Lipham’s Music Store in Gainesville, FL for bringing him and Tom together. (All I ever found there were some strings and a tuner).
All Heartbreaker backing band here. Mike Campbell - lead guitar, Steve Ferrone - drums, Benmont Tench - keyboards, Ron Blair - bass. Also look into Jimmy Iovine, a music legend himself producing top acts from Bruce Springsteen, Dire Straits and U2 to No Doubt. Watch the documentary "The Defiant Ones" to get the full story.
When the Heartbreakers were auditioning for a new drummer, there was a room full of hopeful candidates. When Ferrone showed up, about 3/4 of the hopefuls just left. Those guys knew who was gonna win the job
Was there. Hometown show...Tom returned to Gainesville for this. It was a HUGE event here. He was given a key to City & commented on how his life story is mis-told here often lol. Miss him everyday.
Agree with other comments, hard to find fault with this live version over the studio one. Stevie is just a force of nature. This was a fantastic pairing and a big radio hit if I remember correctly. Thanks Robert K.
The drummer played on the Tom Petty , Geoff Lyne and Prince tribute to George Harrison’s tribute to While Guitar Gently Weeps which I think you have seen . Tom always said Stevie was an honourable Heartbreaker
That IS the Heartbreakers. One of the best American Bands ever. Stevie would have left Fleetwood Mac if Tom had asked her to be a Heartbreaker. Campbell on guitars and Benmont Tench are original band members and were with Tom through the entire Heartbreaker's 40 years together. Great musicians!!!
Always liked this song. So sorry Tom Petty is gone, he has such a good catalog of music with the Heartbreakers. “Something Big” is one of my favorites of his that gets overlooked. Lee, you are hardly a chucklehead, you have a darn good channel.
Petty and his Heartbreakers were one of the most cohesive, smoothest, rocking bands you could ask to see. Add Tom's dozens of great songs and some fun covers and you had an outstanding show 👍
I get emotional when I see this video. Stevie with her delivery and Tom (R.I.P.) Petty's voice and delivery....and I saw them in concert (Live) performing this song twice....and I just lost it! I get emotional in concerts because I think that this maybe the last time seeing this or these artists. Great video. Great reaction!!!
1 of my favorite duets. After watching Lees reaction Im going to have to request the original music video so he can compare them Also get another look at Stevie she never looked better than in that video IMHO
Wow. Missed this yesterday from too much Christmas. Thanks Robert K, this was like the best present ever. So great together with his band. Loved the reaction, L33. Great blending of their voices, it made my day. Blessings and peace all.
Stevie had been asking Tom for a while to write a song for her first solo album. He wrote Insiders for her personally, then decided he wanted to release it themselves. Stevie was very disappointed, and needed a song. Tom and the Heartbreakers had already recorded Stop Dragging My Heart Around for their new album, but gave it to Stevie in place of Insiders. Jimmy Iovine simply laid Stevie’s vocals over Tom’s main parts, deciding it worked better as a duet. Tom was surprised because he thought Stevie was going to record it herself. It became the iconic song that it is. Tom did say that it was frustrating at the time, because with him on the duet, the single from their new album was overlooked. Unfortunate, because A Woman In Love (It’s Not Me) is one of my favorites from Tom and the Heartbreakers.
The Band is "The Heartbreakers. Mike Cambell is playing the lead guitar in this, and the keyboard player is also a member of the "Heartbreakers. It's Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, even though they aren't credited for this song.
Stevie Nicks is less fiery now when singing about a hard time in love, but she and Tom Petty are still a good pair. It was nice to see them. Thank you, Robert K.
I have been in love/lust with her since the first time I heard and saw her.😍💕😊 She's 76 now. When she goes, I'm going to lose it. The last times I broke down was Neil Peart and before him it was Tom Petty. Stevie wanted to join Petty as a Heartbreaker but Tom told her only guys. But, they did make her an "honorary Heartbreaker"😎
Tom wrote this song to put on one his albums when Stevie asked Tom to write a song for album he wrote im an insider but stevie wouldn't sing lead. Tom later said when someone wants you to write a song they don't want a song in style but his style then Jimmir Iovine who produced Tom damn the torpedoes album he suggested that they sing it as duet Jimmy was producing Stevies Bele Donna album that how it came to be
Like you said, great riff, compliments of the one and only Mike Campbell. The backing band is The Heartbreakers. Mike Campbell, Benmont Tench, Stan Lynch, Ron Blair, and Tom. ✌🏼😃🇺🇸
If you truly love these 2 artists together then listen to them sing Insider from this concert also. This whole concert is amazing every song is just fantastic, so miss Tom Petty just think of all the future songs he could have written that everyone missed out on,so sad.
Stevie wanted to join Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers but the band had agreed that there would be no female members. What that would have created…wow!!
The album track sounds almost the same, except Stevie changed the harmony here, and she did some improvs that are not on the studio recording, as they rarely are. There is no romantic connection, but they had the same record producer and she used some of the same musicians on her albums. They were just big fans of each other.
I have read that Stevie really wanted to join The Heartbreakers but they were all like we're a guy band, what about our groovy groupies? But this is all tenth hand gossip ignore me. Talk to Stevie.
No, Tom wrote and recorded it with the Heartbreakers for a new album. He took back Insiders, which he wrote for her and gave her this. Iovine simply laid Stevie’s vocal’s over Tom’s main vocal parts.
Stevie did 3 big duets around that era, THIS (which is the best IMO), "Leather and Lace" with Don Henley, and one I always forget & honestly - I have to go google....... Oh Yea 😂..... "Whenever I Call You Friend" with Kenny Loggins which is good because well, Stevie, and no disrespect to fans but even as a really young kid I didnt get that pairing, still don't & will likely always mentally block that one out!
Hey can you pls react to Fleetwood Mac Gold Dust Woman live th-cam.com/video/ILM_fwJrQ6w/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared or Fleetwood Mac Sisters of The Moon live tusk tour th-cam.com/video/lSTrf50le6g/w-d-xo.htmlsi=P2ZZtIZxGi8-Byy9 Both have Stevie as lead vocal and are just fucking insane performances I thought youd like them
What other tracks by Tom or Stevie should I check out next? Let me know here!
The entire Damn The Torpedos album would be a great starting point.
Merry Merry, my friend 🎁 !

This entire concert in Gainesville is absolutely amazing!
Insider, another Stevie and Tom duet.
Stevie Nicks is my favorite female singer songwriter ❤❤❤
The best incarnation of the Heartbrakers !!! Mike Campbell on lead guitar - very, very underrated

That was a great duet ... song sounds like the studio version
Its unbelievable how much it sounds like the original

Tom had said many many decades ago that Stevie will ALWAYS be an official Heartbreaker.
Always liked this song. So sorry Tom Petty is gone, he has such a good catalog of music with the Heartbreakers. “Something Big” is one of my favorites of his that gets overlooked. Lee, you are hardly a chucklehead, you have a darn good channel.
a great duet!

It’s interesting that you did this after Ronnie Spector, you can hear her influence in these vocals
What a beautiful song ❤ I love Stevie ❤
One of my favorite duets ❤ check out the original too.
I'm so glad we still have Stevie with us. Loved Tom as well but there's something about Stevie. Oh its magic...
I get emotional when I see this video. Stevie with her delivery and Tom (R.I.P.) Petty's voice and delivery....and I saw them in concert (Live) performing this song twice....and I just lost it! Stevie Nicks...
A musical witch.
Thank you Lee!!! Never saw this ❤ yes to everything you said 😊 her art and voice are timeless ❤
Yes you should hear the original, it’s honestly so much better.

What a great live version of a great song! You reaction was pretty good as well....just kidding...Great Reaction as well!

Hello..
Happy Aftermath. ❤
Stevie wanted to join Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers but the band had agreed that there would be no female members. What that would have created…wow!!
Nothing like the original.
Check out TOM PETTY.......LEARNING TO FLY from the same show.....Amazing performer.
Do the studio version! You have to now!

She’s done interviews about this and Tom and has as well and he said the same thing “there aren’t any girls in the heartbreakers” lol
@thedogwoods5716 I believe he also said, " the Heartbreakers are a rock band, and Fleetwood Mac is a pop band."
@@Ginny-t7y So imagine a venn diagram with rock and pop. A lot of overlap, right? RIP Tom, but you were pretty pop too.
That's Tom's band, The Heartbreakers.
Her Belladonna Album came out after she went out on her own. I think Tom wrote it for Stevie to throw in her ex's face.
No, Tom wrote and recorded it with the Heartbreakers for a new album. He took back Insiders, which he wrote for her and gave her this. Iovine simply laid Stevie’s vocal’s over Tom’s main vocal parts.
