Your 2nd Channel is AWESOME Ryan! I can heartily recommend the 2nd Channel to your viewers! It's got some REAL GEMS in there! I'm an Aviation Nut! But I must say the 2nd Channel seems just as Fascinating as this Main Channel of yours! THANK YOU! 👍
Thank you again for the red arrows on the displays! I know it takes more time in editing but it’s very much appreciated. The time lapses at the end are nice! Take care and God bless!!
Good Sunday afternoon! Ryan, thank you so much for taking us along! That was some amazing weather for sure! Very interesting and always fun to watch. Certainly enjoy how you explain things. Take care and safe travels! Jack
I know it is much more time consuming to explain all the small details like you did in this video so I really appreciate it. I enjoy learning all the technical aspects and procedures you go through to have a successful mission. This was a really great video, thank you for sharing!
Wow!!! What a wonderfully delightful video! Thank you so much for including the preflight footage, so much on-the-ground information, and beautiful camera shots!!! This one is probably my favorite video of yours so far. Great filming, great dialogue, great angles, great information, and beautiful scenery.
It was great to see Andrew and to see Ethnos 360 teaming up with SIL. Very busy day for sure. Great view of Andrew landing the Kodiac. Great video of the helicopter doing sling loads. The electric fuel pump definitely looks easier and faster than the old hand pump. Thanks Ryan.
I always smile when a pilot says it’s ok as long as the zero fuel weight is in trim. If you get to ZFW you will have more to worry about than the trim.
Always looking forward to the Sunday morning videos. Flying, PNG culture, whatever you're doing over there is a must watch video. Great job Ryan. Thank you!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ You nailed it again, Ryan! I'm AMAZED at the Quality of your videos! What a pity you don't have International Shipments of Coffee! That is the one product I'm absolutely crazy about! I understand the hazzle though. I can't remember having seen PNG Coffee in the stores in the Nordic Countries, so it would have been an interesting one for the taste buds. I don't know what to say: Another FAVORITE video! We're getting spoiled! BTW, take care with your Lifting Technique, Brother. You seem to handle some brutally heavy cargo. Use you legs rather than your back to lift, whenever you can. Blessings from Norway 🇳🇴🇺🇸
Well done on 10 years, Ryan. Thanks for a great video, drone footage, aircraft landing, helicopter action, helpful locals. What more can you ask for! As always, safe flying.
As a simple VFR pilot oh by the way has also had the privilege of soloing in a glider, I must say it's pretty impressive to watch the way you religiously use checklist and never miss emergency procedures spoken out loud. You seem to treat every flight as though it was your first. Very very impressive. I've had the privilege of over 8 in structures in my flying career five of them world-class glider pilots. If you've never spent any time in a glider you must try it. It will take your energy management skills to a whole new level that you never thought possible. At least that's what happened to me.
This was really interesting Ryan, thank you. Giving so much insight into your work. A classic upload from you in my opinion, and why I subbed to the channel in the first place. I know you’ve asked if other topics could be explored and I’ve now subscribed to your second channel, I’d watch it. But I am mostly here for the details on flight planning, the scenery etc. and this was top draw aviation geek insightful.
I enjoyed that landing as it was a good example of the old Pitch/Power discussion. I caught that you used power to keep speed which flattened the descent and it was nice to hear a pilot note when the picture is not quite right. I catch some aviation videos of flights where they sue the autopilot for much of the approach. Seeing you hand fly most of the approach is just fun to watch.
I laughed when you were talking about lbs vs litres (metric vs imperial) and it was only numbers. It reminded me of a few satellites being dumped into the ocean due to mixing imperial with metric and the rocket ran out of fuel.😊 Fun video and team work!
I like the G1000. It’s got to be the easiest nav/AP to get used to. In the sim anyway. Although I’ve flown in right seat in NE England, I’m not a pilot. I like emulating Ryan’s flights in MSFS. PNG is awesome, inspiring. All the best Ryan.
Hi Ryan, I see what you mean about a wild adventure. Nice camera views with the drone. I’m surprised how much weight a Kodiak can carry. Good music and the enjoyable fast motion ride back to was it Garoka? Thanks again Ryan. I always look forward to seeing your videos.
Incredible video Ryan, Wow!. God Bless you & your entire team. Amazing the great work you do. Feeling blessed. We appreciate all you share out here. Thank you. Also, you sir have nerves of steel for what you do.
I noticed that you utilised a auxiliary power pack to start up in Goroka when the consequences of a failure to start when out in the field are much greater. What is the plan if the on board power will not enable start up. The helicopter transfer of building materials is familiar to me as I have used this method to lift 200 tons of materials to mountain tops in the eastern end of PNG to construct telecommunications facilities to Misima Island . I enjoy the you program and your acknowledgement of the people of the villages. Bruce
Many thanks for this video! By the way, you could link your two channels in the "channel" tab of your channel. It's like videos, shorts, community, channels. It's one further thing for your channel. And cross-link both channels together this way and yes, say you have linked to the other channel in the description and in the channels page.... (something like that). You can link several channels or just the one other channel, whatever you want.
Looked like Clay soil on the runway, Clay and water make for a slimy slick mixture if it gets between the brake pads and rotors and also explains why the runway has slick spots.
Excellent video, I think the drone footage really adds so much to your visual story! Does your drone have a zoom, looks like you had some tighter shots with the plane on it's approach to the runway (looked really cool). Great job, Ryan, in addition to your commitment to your flight mission work, you are the epitome of multitasking!
You're a legend Ryan! I am always inspired by the work you do in PNG. Quick questions after your flight training did you progress into Airline work or just maintained charter work? Also, what routes did you take to build your hours? Thank you.
I think since they have no information regarding the water table this is why the runway is always soaked. Most times due to location the water will flow uphill and look like its standing however thats just how the water table will work
@edmoore3910 No however u seem to not have a very good understanding of geography. Although gravity may pull things downward the water table me be leaning to the upper part of the hill which gives the illusion of flowing uphill. It takes a simple Google search to understand the water table.
Ryan, wow busy trip. Almost needed ATC to watch over you guys. I am curious to know if you get any days off. I assume when weather doesn't cooperate you get some down time? Great video work especially drone footage of helicopter and partner aircraft landing. Looking forward to next video. Stay safe.
Ryan, I love your videos and appreciate you sharing all your flying!! I’m a Kodiak 100 pilot myself and I was wondering what that type of ground power battery is that you use. Would you be able to share manufacturer and model? I’m looking for something portable as well. Thanks! I keep following your adventures.
1st & Foremost LOVE your PRE-FLIGHT activities making SURE EVERYTHING is SAFE FOR FLIGHT, Now talking about downed aircraft do you have any info on the airliner at location -2.2618335443074016, 139.4156395878388 (approx. 5km SSW of Podena.)
Hello, I don’t know if there is a way I can communicate with you. But, I’m a pilot who is planning on flying to Goroka and would love to meet you In person. I’m thinking of flying to Goroka sometime this year or the beginning of next year. My instructor in flight school showed me your videos and I have been watching ever since. Love your content, would love to donate to the people of PNG, and I would love to buy some coffee while I’m there.
Hey Ryan, I'm a simmer and have been enjoying and inspired by your videos for a couple of years now. I have spent many sim hours in PNG, and it is by far my favorite place in the world to fly. I have compiled a list of over 700 airstrips on the island, and landed nearly all of them with the Caravan on MSFS. A few are so short and treacherous that they require either the Shock Ultra or a helicopter. I am midway through vetting the list and adding airstrip data. I will share it with the sim community soon. I recently noticed a possibly controversial point. I use reverse thrust frequently on the Caravan to bring it to a stop on some of the shortest airstrips. Of course, I have the luxury of no real risk in trying the most difficult situations. I'm curious what your real world experience is with reverse thrust in the very challenging work you do. Can you share any insights? Thanks for your ongoing inspirations! Here's Norambi on my list: MSFS ICAO/Windy * Airport (MSFS) Location/District (MSFS) Elev Rwy Length Surface Wind Approach Country AYQM AYQM Simogu Airstrip Kainantu Papua New Guinea AYRN AYRN Norambi Airstrip Kainantu 5033 02-20 2701 Grass 1k 060 02 slope Papua New Guinea AYTP AYTP Teptep Airport Kainantu Papua New Guinea
According to the Kodiak AFM, reverse thrust only shortens the landing distance roll by 5%, so in most conditions, it doesn't really do that much. Where I find it does help is when the ground is very slippery and braking is reduced, then reverse i feel is helpful
When you're near the your takeoff limit & you make a trip to the restroom before leaving because every once of weight reduction counts. A joke people just a joke. I realize he could easily of taken on slightly less fuel. Never good when the runway has highway style rumble strips. Gorgeous shot of his landing! Might make the Kodiak Sales Department highlights.

It can be very exhausting
was thinking the same, young mans country

Congrats on 10 years. What a commitment
Man, I love those time lapse returns. It's just so calming, at least to me. Thanks.
Exhausting day you had Ryan but this has to rank in your top 3 video's superb! Thanks for all you put in to each video behind the scenes as well.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Yes, they are good people unloading the airplanes and loading the helicopter for something that isn't even for their village. :)
Love the drone footage of the aircraft taking off and landing!
10 years in the PNG. Providing a life-saving service to many people. I don’t live in PNG, but I do appreciate what you’ve done. 🙏🙏
I always smile when a pilot says it’s ok as long as the zero fuel weight is in trim. If you get to ZFW you will have more to worry about than the trim.
I think he wants to be able to trim best glide speed too..
I enjoy your flights. All the detail that you explain to us non pilots. Great job my friend!

we mix it into our diesel vans

This is a very old video, right? I can see Bell 212's parked on the ramp outside Pacific. They sold all their 212's years ago, right?

Why you do not use the electric trim ? I see you always using the manual one !
I do use it when landing, but all the other times it's Because you can't feel the airplane with it, so your searching rather than going by feel

Ok
I was wondering if your a missionary or just a pilot
YOU HAVE NOWHERE TO LAND IF ENGINE FAILS, WHAT WOULD YOU DO? YOU LOOK SO LOW YOU COULDN'T GLIDE ANY DISTANCE, THATS CRAZY.
Imagine doing this 80 years ago using a basic map and a compass, in an aircraft that had no automatics and was far less reliable.
You crash
