- In this video we are interviewing with Julia Marden of the Aquinnah Wampanoag Nation. She is known internationally for her traditional arts of the Eastern Woodlands. She specializes in 17th century style twining and other fiber arts. She is a basketmaker, traditional painter and doll maker. In this conversation she tells us about the community made Wampum Belt that was made from handmade wampum beads and tells a story of the people. She tells us bits of history that she learned as she worked on her artistry. It is an honor to talk to Julia and learn more about the People Of First Light. Her most recent project was a feather mantle that you can see on her Facebook page. She also tells us about some of the Pow Wows of 2024.
