- Marcus Paus is one of Norway’s most prominent and prolific composers.
His catalog includes chamber music, solo works, choral music, orchestral works, operas and several scores for stage and screen, and his work is lauded for its expressivity and craftsmanship.
Important works include the oratorio The Beauty That Still Remains on texts by Anne Frank, Hate Songs for mezzo soprano Tora Augestad on the poetry of Dorothy Parker, Concerto for Timpani and Orchestra written for the Bergen Philharmonic’s 250th season, and the large scale, multi-award nominated symphonic score for André Øvredal’s MORTAL.
2021 saw premieres of Decameron: Concerto Rifugio and Voyage for the Arctic Philharmonic with soloists Petter Richter and Miriam Helms Ålien respectively, the oratorio Litanies on poems by Siegfried Sassoon, as well as the Sonata for Violin & Piano, and Tuba Mirum, a concerto for tubist August Schieldrop and the Oslo Philharmonic.
