Kabbadi is a really old sports. It’s pretty much considered ancient (4000yrs old) compared to current modern sports, thus why it has a childhood game vibe ( older children’s games come from such sports) and it has that kingdom vs raider vibe. The breath hold is so that the players don’t stall. You have till you run out of breath to score a goal or get back to safety. It adds a bit of desperation and ensures the game doesn’t drag on.
This sport has historical/mythological significance. It might be more than 5000yrs old. Its about a young warrior(abhimanyu) who in battlefield, in absence of his father, Barged in and broke in 7 tierd formation(chakravyuha). But his knowledge was incomplete, he only knew to break in, he attained a glorious death. This game is about doing what abhimanyu couldn't do.

There might be confusion about saying kabaddi in one breath, it's also impossible for umpire to understand raider is said kabaddi in one breath, so that is the reason every raid is only for 30 sec.
Holding hands of partner player also help the defender when he tries to save himself from the raider so take back steps and might lost his balance so he can use his partner to support him to save him from going in the lobby area or out or cross the end line in the back.

You can then cut down on the rules to make it interesting. It is a lot of fun and builds your lungs and lung capacity as you have to hold your breadth while chanting Kabbadi. They holds hands so that when you tackle together you wrap him up and not let the raider get away. You are right we should bring it to the US colleges... Also womens Kabbadi would be awesome and co-ed as well...
Game is super fun. But need lots of flexibility ,strength and stamina and it can cause injuries like joint dislocation, broken bones and torn muscles often. But every worth playing.
Also about chanting kabadi in one breath, the way the word kabadi is pronounced, the ka(badi - this part is said by blowing out and the start ka in kabadi is made with in take of air. So it's not like he is not getting oxygen, one just should not stop saying the word for a second while raiding
Not a child game. Indian civilisation places a lot emphasis on breadth and that is why yoga has so man breadth excercises. In fact the word for breadth „pram“ also means „life“. Breadth is life. Mastery over breadth is master over life.
This sport is like team chess but physically demanding and being agile asf. Its a very old sport which was more of a war training but now it's more standardised with set of rules which make it even more fast paced and fun. Me and my friends use to go in a ground with grass , emove our shoes and place them straight to make a court and it was so much fun but its dangerous as well if you will not play it with caution cause one student in our school fractured his hand while playing!!!
The other sport you were talking about is other version of Kabbadi called circle Kabbadi very popular in Northwest India and Pakistan. In this game only one defender can tackle raider not the team and the mid line is very far away. Much more difficult much more physical.

When you look for kabaddi results on TH-cam, you seem to get two kinds. One of them is this kind of "arena kabaddi" which is played indoors, has a middle-class looking audience including some women, and often has commentary in English. The other kind is an outdoor sport with a larger field, which can be either grass or sand. The players do not wear shirts, and the audience is entirely male and tends toward Indian clothing, and some matches have a lot of people in Sikh turbans. The clothing is the "Persian" Indian kind, like maybe the matches are in Punjab or Rajasthan. The second type is predominant in videos from the US and Canada.
the chanting of word 'Kabbadi' is not needed anymore... it was to be the case long time ago.. now each raid has a time limit... which is displayed below .. it is 30 seconds for each raid.. That's it.
i have played kabaddi in fierce competitions and it was serious to me and let me tell you it's not a kid's play at all. it's a very serious game you have to play tricks and mindgames with your opponents all the time you're playing doesn't matter if you're on defending side or an attacker.
Oh yeah ofcourse. I think a lot of people are misinterpreting what we are saying. We are saying it reminds us of a school yard game. Ofcourse the games have serious strategies when you play it competitively. That goes the same as with playing tag, or dodgeball as a kid and then playing it in a league.
3:24 This game is ancient , played around 500 CE maybe it existed even before that but we have a record of 500 CE to 1500 CE , Kabaddi today as game has transformed several times , at that time it was called Sadugudu or Jallikattu or KAI PIDI etc different names used at different time & different places in Akhand Bharat ( Greater India ). There are evidences available for Kabbadi being played in Iran (Persia) in 2000s to 2500s. So really nobody can tell how it started , but there are instances of Kabbadi & HUTUTU (Man's game) , Sattgotti & KHOKHO (Child's game) being played in Mahabharata's detailed texts. So yes it is ancient.
It was not invented by kids. The Kabbadi was game of best athletes in ancient times. You have to use your brain and body strength in a small space. You dont have too much space have to judge and act within split seconds
Just frekin watch just a single match with your indian friend and you will be master of the game, i can assure you that ask him all of the questions during the match all of your will be cleared.
Ok it's and indian traditional game , and this game has two types , one you are watching is national kabbadi and second type of kabbadi is called Circle style kabbadi and both are different ..... national kabbadi is an international game and circle or Punjab style kabbadi is played in Haryana and Punjab(two states of India) and Punjab (Pakistan)
the indian government have set aside jobs for those that are good at kabaddi but dont make the pros. this encourages a lot of people in the country to get good at this sport. In one word if I were to describe the sport, it's heroic. 1 vs 7. It's ancient. The buddha played it. Everyone in south india played it growing up like kick ball in the states. There are a ton of moments in kabaddi that are fun and exciting to watch because it's 1 vs many. the rounds are short. it's even more accessible than soccer (football) because you dont need a ball. There's also a japanese anime about kabaddi that's quite good. Once this gets in the Olympics, it will grow even more.
We can breath while we chant what i think is its to make the sport more disciplined. As the raider enters the court opponents start sledging if the raider start replying them with mouth situation will be hostile.
Wishing you all the success in 2024. If you insist I'd suggest mix up content in terms of reaction to music trailers etc along with sports.( Indian content has a great scope for success just because of the number game and you won't know when you hit milestones like 10,20 , 50 k even million subs. My 2 cents ❤❤❤
@@RealFansSports He brought that up because that is how this game has been played for thousands of years. It is only now that competitive Kabaddi is being played like a modern sport and that the need for more "fair" rules was felt and they switched from the breath rule to the time rule. This game is older than Yoga, and since Yoga itself is at least 6000 years old, that makes this game older than that. Although the academic debate on how old it is is still on, academia has concluded that it is at least 4000 years old. Ancient Hindu Epics describe the Gods playing this sport thousands of years prior to even that era, so some even believe it has been around for around 10,000 years. And the breath rule is how it has been played for literal millennia. In fact, if you see the Pro League raiders carefully, they do chant the word Kabaddi repeatedly out of force of habit. Even I was completely unaware of this time rule instead of breath rule system until I saw the Pro League for the first time.

Game is super fun. But need lots of flexibility ,strength and stamina and it can cause injuries like joint dislocation, broken bones and torn muscles often. But every worth playing.
Another most important rule U ignored is that raider has only 30 seconds to get point or back without point in his side otherwise he would be out
Its one of the oldest games in India, easily thousand or more years old. the format is changed just a tiny bit to make it viable for commercial sports
Also about chanting kabadi in one breath, the way the word kabadi is pronounced, the ka(badi - this part is said by blowing out and the start ka in kabadi is made with in take of air. So it's not like he is not getting oxygen, one just should not stop saying the word for a second while raiding
Kabbadi has given me more injuries than any other sport ever.... hammering bodies towards others isn't child's play.
The USA has their own national kabbadi team, that competes in the world cup..And they are quite good
Not a child game. Indian civilisation places a lot emphasis on breadth and that is why yoga has so man breadth excercises. In fact the word for breadth „pram“ also means „life“. Breadth is life. Mastery over breadth is master over life.
This is the ancient Indian war game... generally played by ancient Army Generals, Royals etc in order to sharpen their war tactics
This game was so ancient that it was used to improve co ordination between men to catch a prey in jungle
It's nothing like chess but I agree with the rest of your comment.
The other sport you were talking about is other version of Kabbadi called circle Kabbadi very popular in Northwest India and Pakistan. In this game only one defender can tackle raider not the team and the mid line is very far away. Much more difficult much more physical.
Kabaddi history in the Mahabharata
Deeply rooted in Indian culture for centuries, kabaddi has even found a mention in Hindu books. In the Sanskrit epic Mahabharata, It is said that the Pandava warrior, Arjuna, mastered kabaddi’s skills from Lord Krishna, who adored the sport. The story goes that Arjuna would breach enemy walls inconspicuously and would walk back unscathed with his kabaddi skills.
Kabaddi can get quite popular in the west. Its simple and short (in terms of time) and with big men will be very entertaining
This game is way cooler and way more electric than cricket ...there's hardly any dull moment in the match of 40 minutes ...
the chanting of word 'Kabbadi' is not needed anymore... it was to be the case long time ago.. now each raid has a time limit... which is displayed below .. it is 30 seconds for each raid.. That's it.
i have played kabaddi in fierce competitions and it was serious to me and let me tell you it's not a kid's play at all. it's a very serious game you have to play tricks and mindgames with your opponents all the time you're playing doesn't matter if you're on defending side or an attacker.
So yes it is ancient.
its a traditional game played in parts of india like haryana ,punjab and many more and it was not just a game started by kids
This is a very ancient sport, thousands of years old.
Green colour represent no of players in game
Thank you for that information.
Guys, you should watch matches of PKL(pro Kabaddi league)
We can breath while we chant what i think is its to make the sport more disciplined. As the raider enters the court opponents start sledging if the raider start replying them with mouth situation will be hostile.
Bro u should make a vidio on best of pkl kabbadii
The red color indicates how many players are out and remaining before this raid.
The simple meaning is you have to cross the bonus line to get the bonus point, you can't just touch the bonus line to get the bonus point.
♥️🌺🌹🇮🇳🙏
Dope.
Holding breath is not an actual thing or rule ...forget you heard that ...
It's not I wonder why he even brought that up.
When u say its kids like game im thinking about myself.
I played kabbadi before in tamilnadu as a newbie with a pro members.
Very scary game. You constantly on your edge feels like you riding a bicycle on a rope and you keeps getting hurt. Scar marks everwhere by diving, tackled by opponents, fell down, finger nails. After you completed it feels like a war ended.
So I realized i should go back to cricket 😅😅😅
Cricket is for kirukans. Kabaddi is for warriors.
@@phoenixj1299 insulting a sport shows you neither kabbadi nor cricket player
@@suthishofficial Cricket is not a sport. It's an activity for lazy people. Football is a sport. Kabaddi is a sport. Basketball is a sport. Tennis is a sport.
@@phoenixj1299 🤭🤭🤭 please don't embarass yourself more. It's pathetic
@@suthishofficial You are embarassing yourself with your crappy tastes.
Yes please react to it its cool
They hold hands because the name kabbadi comes from 'Kai pidi' means hold hands. Its 1000s of yrs old. Very old game.
Its is basically extreme tag + dodgeball
kool
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Just find a Kabaddi League match and watch it. Best way to understand the game.
Kabadi is an ancient Indian warfare game
You should touch across bonus line, lift it up and come,u can't touch across bonus line and drag it it.........bonus point criteria
Currently Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) is happening.. every day at 8 p.m. IST..you can watch them
Kabaddi is ancient indian sports
The bulk line is called walk line and one foot in air and one touching it is the rule.... It is not for bonus line
Kabaddi is like group wrestling, with kicks. if you play one round, you will sweat buckets.
Fun Fact this Sports is more older then western civilization 😂😂
U should should watch and play it
When i learned kabbadi it took only 5-10 mins and that too without any video represntation, you americans make everything sound so hard and impossible, but its one of the easiest game around, you go in chanting kabbadi continously for 30 secs, touch someone you get points,it they catch you,you are out thts it
The concept of the game isn’t hard. And it’s definitely easier to learn things while playing it lol
You need to cross the mid line..even finger tips will do but touching the mid line will not be considered as successful raid
Sir you have to react pro kabbadi league it's interesting
yes react on kabaddi on lastest video
the "kabbadi" chanting rule has been given away to a time rule
