This is telling me she had to learn to shoot with her right hand (she's left-handed) so she didn't recovered 100% from the finger accident or whatever happened. She only uses the pistol when she's sane and in control of herself. It's her weapon of choice for accuracy. This left hand thing about losing a finger, having a (mechanical?) new one might be foreshowind a new low on her mental health and attitude thereof impacting the plot.
