Your story is very inspiring. I too made a massive career shift when I was 26. I used to be a personal training and taught myself to write code. I have been working as a full-time developer for 10 years now. I recently became inspired to learn something new again and have begun dabbling in music. I have stumbled upon many of your videos and found them to be very encouraging and inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
I have watched a lot of your videos out of boredom but never actually heard your music until now. I listened to your music, you have a great voice and even though I'm not totally into the styles of edm you like. I think you have a lot of skill and talent. Plus you're very driven. Stick with it! Cheers!
Frankly, most people do not have the academic inclination or discipline you have. If you had chosen to go into medicine, finance, or architectural carpentry you would have succeeded. I'm less motivated and less disciplined so its taking me 10x longer. Also, being single is a big help for your own goals.
Takeaway from the video: Courses are a great investment and of huge help! You should get some! Yea, would love to, however.. I'm still in highschool, I have no income, no connections, nothing. So yeah, the video kind of made me feel like "Well shit, I guess I wont get anywere till I get a full time job (which will take 6-8 years minimum since I'll have to go to an university becuse of my highschool choice). Oh yeah, isn't my goal to not have to go trough that in the first place? Shit. So, uh, with my dumb rant out of the way; do you have any FREE courses you recommend? Sorry about the yapp. I felt like oversharing.
I'd say start with the free tutorials, breakdowns & walkthrough videos right here on youtube. There are a lot. Identify which areas you really need to work on the most and study those first, like production, song writing, composing, mixing, etc. Courses are great however I learnt how to make music from probably 90% of youtube content alone. Also learning a daw/program will def speed things up. If you look hard enough you can find masterclasses for free online ;)
