with the extra bodymass the tone is very good.. not just a metal machine.. It sustains well so great for long sustained notes when solo'ing. Mines a hardtail which I prefer for the kelly.

JS32 Kelly s a beautiful guitar I've been thinking about getting one (right now I've got a JS22 Dinky) but I was wondering whether is it suitable for dive bombs and things like that? JS22 has a horrible tremolo bar hahaha No sooner have you touched the bar than it goes out of tune. Or is it better if I save some more money and buy another one?
The Kelly is a nice guitar but the Floyd that is installed in it is less than great. It works, and if you lubricate it and adjust the springs you may get it to work for a couple of days. I would save your money and get a little better guitar. Jackson does make a Kelly (X-Series) that is somewhere around $700.00 that has a real Floyd Rose in it and it looks awesome. I think I paid about $300.00 for this one. Sometimes you get what you pay for.
I do dives with mine all the time and have had 0 issues with it at all, even do flutters and vibrato with mine too. Although with it being a licensed Floyd Rose it does the job just won’t be identical to an original Floyd that are on more expensive 🎸
I got that same guitar. Its a beast and fact neck and i got the trem set up and i can be brutal and stays in tune. I have two ESP. Mh 50 and a mh 150 and the jackson is a bit hotter than them. Its close but it wins .
The Floyd on this guitar is actually a Floyd made for Jackson, so it is OK. As long as you keep it well lubricated it works well, but with time it gets worse as the parts are cheaper made than the regular Floyd. I've had this guitar about 5 years and I do notice it having a little harder time staying in tune as time passes.
Whats your opinion on the volume pot placement? Ive noticed on other kellys them closer to the bridge. I have big hands and think id prefer it like this one but no access to test. Or possibly worse depending on where the hand rests?
I think I like it closer to the pickup than the bridge. The more expensive models seem to have it closer to the bridge. Although I do tend to hit the volume pot occasionally where it is.
Confirmed, i like this placement much more than the "higher end" model placement by the bridge, for how my hand rests! Definitely feels more out of the way.
I've a JS32 Kelly & JS32 Dinky. They're both good guitars.. Although the pots and switches could do with replacing.. I've some DiMarzio's that'll put in the Dinky.. yet the stock pickups in the Jackson Kelly suit the guitar well.

Not crazy about them. They are ok but I’m just used to seeing them in solid colors. Just take some getting used to I guess.
