I'm told by Nissan that the S mode in these are Smart mode, which learns our driving style for the best driving experience. When I drive these, after 30 minutes or so, I'm getting better real time consumption figures than I can in the Eco mode. Normal mode is best used for open road running as the regenerative motor can spin up too fast when slowing from 100 + kph, and sounds very harsh. The new shape models from 2021 have bigger electric motors in them which are better suited to the long, high speed driving trips that are more likely over in Europe, where these are also now sold. Best average fuel consumption driving around Tga City only, is 25/26 Km per liter, as per car computer.

the noise could be your tyres, I had that issue when I went from Michelin to a second hand set of wheels that had Dunlops on them. I am now running Michelin Primacy's and they are supper quiet all the time...interesting you get better fuel economy in S mode...I find the throttle really touchy, might be because most of the time I am in eco mode. I get around 750 k's from a tank, would love to get 1k

I am thinking of getting one of these on my return to nz, petrol prices suck balls in akl.
26km per litre that is great.
my f cking demio 1.2L was doing 14/L at best!!

Yes the S mode is indeed the smart mode, which increases regenerative braking considerably to increase fuel economy.

the regenerative braking is the same in Eco and Smart mode. Only in the Normal mode is this reduced.

hi, is there any information on the car, that you should know before buying! a note e for your first car.

They are called Nissan Note e-power (which has a badge on the lower front L and R doors plus on the boot lid). Even the standard X models are very cheap to run yet accelerate similar to a 2 liter car. Very reliable as there isn't much to go wrong. Nissan have also devised software that keeps all the battery cells of the High voltage traction batter level, therefore these batteries are most likely life of the car. Main thing is to make sure you keep the air vents under the front seats clear, both right and left side.

Thanks for the review, was wondering what’s maintenance like? 5k or 10k services? And what type of fuel does it need? Premium 98 or 95 ?

To my knowledge they can take 91

I have one regular one(not nismo). it works great, 95 is better than 91 in all hybrid cars. I sometimes use 98 it is more smooth than 95 but 95 lasts longer than 98.

@@ebrahimhashimi5103 91 is fine in the note as it is just generator and does not drive the car at all. I tried 91,95 and 98 and don't get any different fuel economy, it won't hurt to use 95 or 98 but I find it id jus to expensive and is wasting money

91 is fine but you can use 95 or 98 if you like. service id simple, engine oil 0W20 Hybrid Oil 10,000 or 6mths and the gearbox uses CVT oil and get changed every 40,000k's I believe. Brake fluid would be 40,000 also.

The e-power notes do not have a gearbox, they are one speed from 0 to top end. There is a transmission case which connects one electric motor MG1 to the engine which starts the engine, after which is electronically switched to become the core generator. The 2nd electric motor MG2 also drives through the transmission case to a differential out to the wheels. This motor also switches to regeneration of electricity when the car is slowing. There are a few gears for each motor, but neither have any connection to the other. Except by sending electricity through the inverter back to the HV Battery or driving motor. It is a very simple mechanical system, not so much on the Electric side though. They also have a Battery management computer board in the Battery compartment which does a lot of work in keeping the HV Battery correctly charged including keeping all individual cells equal in charge state. Nissan have made something very special in the e-power system.
