One thing to note is, Penrith recently went through a similar situation with Taylan May. The difference is, they terminated his contract without delays, with professionalism and with class. And as a Penrith fan, I personally think they handled it basically perfectly. I've read a few comments saying that the Broncos should be part of the blame if they don't sack him.......... So what would that say about the next club that will be waiting eagerly for Mam to become available? And I'm sure there would be a long list of them.......... I don't condone what Mam has done at all and he deserves whatever punishment he's given but unless the NRL de-registers Mam, the Broncos should not terminate his contract only for another club to benefit down the track. Maybe a lengthy ban, a huge fine, community service, whatever else, make an example of him but allow him to repay his club and their fans by sticking by him not just until his contract runs out but beyond.
I think they need to be realistic and Reynolds is on his last legs and now mam so like you said why not proper rebuild and do it while your carrigans and haas are still young and not backend of there 20s. Blood a new 5/8 this year
A few additional things about the accident. 1. He went across 2 lanes to hit the Uber head-on. 2. Reports are now surfacing that a 4 year old girl had a hip broken. 3. It was on a straight stretch of road so he can't claim he lost control on a bend or whatever. 4. The maximum penalty for all of the crimes is 14 years' gaol. It's highly unlikely that the NRL or the Broncos will have to take any action. The Qld Court will do that for them. Interesting that a few other TH-cam channels are raving on about whether he should be suspended for 6, 8, 12 weeks etc. In other words he shouldn't be subject to the same laws as the rest of the population because he's a handy football player. I feel like "we all make mistakes when we're young" is a very terrible excuse for "allegedly" being under the influence and driving a car without a license and endangering the lives of other people, in my almost 10 years of driving I have never gotten behind a wheel of a car after having a drink. So no I dont think " we all make mistakes when we're young" is good enough when we learn the consequences of our actions well before 21. We'll have to see how all the drug test stuff plays out but if it does come back positive I dont think a fine and match bans is enough for the severity of what he has actually done.
