It wasn’t based off any song or theme, it was composed by a uniformed soldier in the Salvation Army- a band master, many years ago! His daughter became my bandmaster!! 😊
Overall the march lacked excitement and conviction. Compare this version with Waitakere's amazing performance at the 1999 Nationals and the difference is vast. The New Zealand band really did give a perfect performance on that day IMO. Kew lacked excitement and conviction especially up to around 2:45, after that the interpretation was very festival march-like and interesting, but evenstill, like many aussie and English brass bands playing marches, it lacked the X factor that moves hearts. I'm an aussie, but l still think the NZ bands have the ability to play marches the best. btw, this could be my favourite march.
Yeah I don’t like Marches and it probably shows... I’ll still take the 49 Points from Mr Gott who is a Salvationist and was heard to have a lump in his throat in his concluding remarks on the adjudication
I have to disagree, this is the finest performance of a march I have heard from any Australian Band, ever! Regarding the comparison I cannot comment, but surely we are here to enjoy performances, not to criticise or compare. In any case the two are 12 years apart and from different countries. Different apples from different barrels.
Clean and Tight. Well played!
This band is as good as the International Staff Band.
That’s so kind - but unfortunately this band no longer exists which is a real shame
Awesome.
We will keep the old flag flying
My favorite march. It’s always exciting to me but I got no goosebumps this time.🤷🏼♂️
What''s the musical theme or song on which this is based?
