Cool fish! And Nice video:), I would really recommend a sandy bottom for a flatfish because then they can burrow completely until only their eyes stick out
It's great to see you got your flounder. Just a word of warning. I had one that lasted about 2 months before unfortunately it got half eaten. The culprit could be one of 3. Fire eel, moray eel or one of my rope fish. Mine was on sand so great hiding for it but unfortunately it happened. I haven't been able to find another to put in my neon tank. I am really hoping your experience is different to mine as I love these fish. Please keep us updated and good luck. They have amazing characters. 😀
@@rachaelpannell6860 Oh no sorry to hear that and thank you for letting me know! I’ll keep a close eye for sure. I was thinking of getting another one but if I do I’ll most probably add him into my 56
@ScoobzNPetz definitely recommend getting more. They are awesome fish especially if you have more than one so I have heard. Keep up with the videos you are doing a great job.
Also figured i'd tell you ornate bichirs, unlike what others have told you, don't grow that fast if you don't feed them to do so. Feed him normally, and he wont reach 12 inches until at least 2 years. 15 inches around the 4 year mark. You have to power feed them to make them monster fish
@@fridaysreaper396 Oh I see! It’s a bit tricky as I have to feed the other fish and can’t really stop him from eating that 😅 but I’ll keep that in mind. Thank you for letting me know!
Ive only ever seen one other person with a freshwater flounder and they are so cool! Although you might never see them 😅 Also that catfish is a chaca chaca catfish which is really cool because they make frog like noises when you tale them out of the water, but you’re right and they are predators that will eat everything they can fit in their huge mouths
@S1xroom Luckily mine contrasts with the black sand so I can spot him quite easily but I can imagine it would be a nightmare in a sand bottom tank 😂 and oh cool! Chaca Chaca catfish is a cool name and that’s an interesting fact about the croaking noise! I may have to try it out one time
@@ScoobzNPetz ye, i was netting at the poles from the bridge and i saw 1 specific pole with a few seagulls. So i decided to net there, when i tried pulling the net up something splashed me. And turns out it was 15-20cm flounder
Yo scoobz i recently went to fish planet. You should some get stiphodon gobys for your interpet they like to bury themselves and create burrows in my tank.
The scientific name you were provided might be wrong. That name belongs to our Australian freshwater sole, which tapers to a point at the tail instead a normal fish tail. The only true freshwater flounder(with a normal fish tail like yours has) resides in New Zealand and gets pretty big, 60+ cm.
I really doubt that this is fresh water flat most of salt water fry of flat are able to live in fresh water or lowest salty water but you can try at least add some salt to water about 0.5-1g per 1l so it gaves you salty around 0.5 to 1 promile 1per/1000 it won't harm some more hardy fishes swordfish płaty danio etc😅
As I wrote Sola hogchocker used to lived in sea but their fry live i light salty and fresh water and when they grow up they back to seat to lay eggs and die😊 please do not make this false info to Young aquaristic lovers when they put them in fresh water low ph and dh it may not survive😢 generaly water should be light salty just a bit😅
