Even prior to 'Howrah Bridge' (1958), Dadamuni & Madhubala acted together in 'Mahal' (1949), another cult classic. Remember the song 'Aayega aayega aanewala'. 'Ek Saal' was another hit movie in which they both were paired. In fact, it was Dadamuni who gave breakthrough to Madhubala in the film industry, and she had great respect for him. Madhubala charged much less amount of money for this movie, from Shakti Samantha, only for Dadamuni.
