And her reply was just ‘Shut up heather!’ It’s so annoying because they all make fun of theatre kids, yet most of their TikToks are to musical theatre songs. 😂😂
Before I started getting into musicals I used to be a bitch and make fun of my friend bc of her obsession over musicals (but she didn’t mind cause my friend group always teases each other) I found the song “Burn” from Hamilton and I had no idea it was from a musical and was shocked when I found out and then I from there I got into a few musicals like Mean Girls and Heathers.. I actually heard the sound and heard the name heather and that was how I got into heathers, but I never used it in a TikTok because I thought that if you wanted to use a song from a musical, you had to know at least 2 songs.
unpopular opinion: I think its fine that they use the song and sometimes dont know what it really means or havent listened to it. But it is really annoying when they use the songs and stuff and still call MT kids annoying or say that musicals suck. I think they should rephrase it instead as in “I heard that song on a tiktok video”.

I literally can’t listen to All You Wanna Do without thinking about everything that happened to Katherine. Seeing TikTok use it as a ‘look at my new so compared to my previous one’ thing is really unsettling.

my favorite thing about this is how oblivious they are about what the songs are about. like All You Wanna Do is about a teenager getting sexually assaulted, and then killed. What I Know Now is about a woman who committed suicide and is telling the others to stay alive, Say My Name is basically about a demon trying to stop a teenager from killing herself by making a risky deal, Don’t Lose Ur Head is literally about how a girl got beheaded, Sincerely, Me is about a fabrication of emails from a guy who committed suicide and the other guy is using him for basically clout. a lot of people have had bad experiences with people who use theater sounds without knowing where they come from, so here’s a positive experience: there’s a girl who i know (we aren’t exactly friends but she’s considered a “popular” girl) and she was using a theater should and i told her that it was a musical theater number, she asked where it was from and she listened to the whole thing. she’s not a theater kid, but she was open to the idea :)
Something similar happened to my friend. She went up to me and asked me about some of the sounds she used. One lockdown week later and she zoomed me saying she wanted to see Six with me after lockdown ends,

It was Six, and I saw a video thumbmail of an animatic about Six. I just ignored it for the most part until my friends started talking about Six and I eventually caught on with the trend.

I only knew about "Big Fun", I listened to other musicals as full musicals and when I was once singing "Get Down", my sister asked me why was I singing a song from TikTok. I don't hate the fact that they're on TikTok, but I wouldn't like to be seen as a person who just listens to TikTok trends.
