    Excellent book, it is. Good to see Prof. C K Raju's work being taken to aam public in this form.
    Consider this basic fact. One cannot really do much work using Roman numerals, yet, we have been led to believe that Europeans made astounding progress in maths, astronomy, and other areas. We must question that basic narrative.

    Is Modi govt. not serious about NCERT textbooks correctly teaching history/mathematics ( in giving due credit to Indian Mathematicians ) ?
    Even when evidence is available, what is stopping NCERT ? And what can a common man do to help in this matter ?

      And what _is_ this "number zero" they speak of? Seriously though, yes, Western culture has become about rhetoric. & you would _think that_ this would make naming this correctly easier.
      That's not how humanity works. Most people cannot conceive of Over-arching Principles. So PC language & culture are applied as sporadically as human rights by the nation that chastises China while maintaining open rooms at Guantanamo Bay.
      While my best suggestion is always to not be duped in any way by any facet of PC notions of right & wrong, this doesn't solve anything directly.

    Let me explain to you the true origin and purpose of the system of YUGAS that predates all knowledge and understanding of mathematics.
    * In 144,000 seconds the orbit of the earth around the sun equals the circumference of the sun (24 hours x 1.66666... = 40 hours)
    * This means that during 5 days (5 x 24 hours) the earth travels a total distance equal to 3 times the sun's circumference (3 x 40 hours).
    * The total number of seconds during 5 days is exactly 432,000 (5 x 86,400 = 3 x 144,000).
    So, now we can also connect this to the Vedic Yuga System which consists of four different periods, namely
    432,000 years (Kali)
    864,000 years (Dwapara)
    1,296,000 years (Treta)
    1,728,000 years (Satya)
    Instead of years, we'll use seconds
    43,200 (half a day)
    86,400 (a full day)
    129,600 (one and a half day)
    172,800 (2 days)
    So, the ratios and number of years in the Yugas numerically represent the number of seconds during exactly 5 days, because:
    1/2 + 1 + 3/2 + 2 = 5 (days)
    Each Yuga holds a Sandhya and a Sandhyamsa which are numerically equal to the central duration (the number in the middle); these are shown below (the first and last numbers given).
    The sum of those corresponds to the number of times the EARTH travels the SUN'S circumference during that particular orbital time.
    36,000 + 360,000 + 36,000 = 432,000 and 36 + 36 = 72 (72 days of orbit = 43.2 times the circumference of the SUN)
    72,000 + 720,000 + 72,000 = 864,000 and 72 + 72 = 144 (144 days of orbit = 86.4 times the circumference of the SUN)
    108,000 + 1,080,000 + 108,000 = 1,296,000 and 108 + 108 = 216 (216 days of orbit = 129.6 times the circumference of the SUN)
    144,000 + 1,440,000 + 144,000 = 1,720,000 and 144 + 144 = 288 (288 days of orbit = 172.8 times the circumference of the SUN)
    Conclusions.
    So, in my opinion, the true origin and purpose of the Vedic Yugas is the ASTRONOMIC RELATIONSHIP between the orbit of our planet and the circumference of the sun, because all numbers of years in the Yuga cycle can be related to the system of counting (86,400 seconds in one day) and the length of EARTH'S ORBIT compared to the DIMENSIONS of the SUN (expressed in the orbital time of 144,000 seconds) during a Sacred Year of exactly 360 days.
    In a Sacred Year, the number of times the earth travels a distance equal to the sun's circumference is 216 (= 360/1.666...).
    To put that into another perspective: the orbital distance during one day is equal to 216 degrees of the sun's circumference.
    Thus we get the following equation:
    216 degrees of circumference x 360 days = 360 degrees of circumference x 216 days
    As a consequence, there exists FULL UNITY between the numbers that describe one year in terms of days (360) and in terms of the dimensions of the Sun (216) and the division of a circle in 360 degrees.
    Compare this to 'the number of Faces' in the Temple of Angkor Wat in Cambodja (54 columns x 4 faces = 216 faces).
    Compare this to 'the number of deities on the bridge who are churning the cosmic Milk' (27 x 2 = 54).
    Compare this to 'the number of towers in the temple complex of Bekheng Cambodja (108).
    Compare the number of vimanas on the various platforms of the Borobudur Temple at Java etc. etc. etc.
    And then focus on the numbers in Egyptian mythology (the death of Osiris) and the great religions from 2,000 years ago...
    Why does the Christian bible talk about 144,000 in the Book of Revelations and what was the original meaning of the infamous 666?
    * EARTH'S ORBITAL VELOCITY per second x 144,000 = THE SUN'S CIRCUMFERENCE x (6 x 6 x 6) = EARTH'S ORBIT around the SUN *
    Aren't the 'Number of the Beast' and the 72 Secret Names of Jehova that were spelled with 216 letters exactly the same thing?
    Don't they in fact point directly to a shared original source that got lost thousands of years earlier?
    Is it a surprise then that both adaptations (666 and 216) had a 'heavenly' connotation/meaning/application in the memory of the people?
    Don't they deal with one celestial object and one celestial phenomenon?
    Take notice that the starting point of the mathematical operation is 43,200 (seconds) and the end of it is numerically equal (432,000).
    Scaling it up by a decimal factor (10 or 100 or 1,000 etc) would give these huge periods of billions of years.
    The explanation is logical, complete, and profound with respect to the field of geometry (which in reality originates from an era way before the rise of the Sumerians, the assumed 'first civilization' on our planet).
    Both 'historical facts' (the assumed absence of highly developed knowledge of physics, math, and astronomy at an earlier stage of mankind and the dating of the time when our ancestors were first capable of practicing these sciences) are obvious lies.
    Unfortunately, most experts (and all academics) lack any real insights into the age, origin, and meaning of our units of time, 'totally ignorant' being printed in capitals on their calling cards...

    We can teach our kids the authenticity of our achievements in mathematics, medicine, etc., but unless we teach our children the falsity of Ariyan theory, all this will end up still with the West. The learning must be total change of our curricula!

    Even a Phd in Physics in the year 2010-13 was ignorant about the contribution of the Hindu or the Indian mathematics. That was the situation in India till then and most of it was politically created to show ancient Bharat as aboriginal and to keep the colonial mindset going. More so to keep the Aryan invasion theory is kept going. It is very unfortunate that our philosophy and civilization were looked down for political hegemony. 12:11

      as you read book and when you come across the forgotten conceps from childhood or college you can search quickly on youtube or google about the topic as you read book which will improve your understanding the book further. you can do this while studying books of any subject. literally internet, google, youtube has become like incarnation of Ma Saraswati symbolically metaphorically. ask her anything.
